First of all, before you start it is warned that this is an unofficial guide compiled from inputs of the South East Asian DSLReports community . Any information provided here is to be used on readers own risk.

Your Telekom Malaysia Kasda KE318D is shipped to you with restricted admin privileges and to get full access of your Modem you will need to login using a Root User

1. Configuring Kasda KE318D as a router

Login

- Open your browser. Type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar.



- At the Log-on Screen, Please login as admin with the password telekomst



This is how the default configuration should appear when you log in for the first time.

2. Quick Configuration

It is located on this page »192.168.1.1/MainPage?id=25



After everything is filled up click Submit.
Note: Under PPP, Be sure to put in your assigned streamyx username and password.

3. NAT (Network Address Translation) - Port Forwarding
Click the Services tab. It is located under NAT Options, once you get there select NAT Rule Entry. You can also simply type this address »192.168.1.1/MainPage?id=14 which will bring you to the page.


Click the Add button to add NAT rules., then select create a rule for NAPT (Network Address Port Translation)

Enter the details as above and hit Submit.

This is an example of port forwading for a Bit Torrent client. In this example, The rule is set to forward port 6881 through 6890 for a computer located at IP 192.168.1.2.
You may have to modify this rule to appropriate the IP address.

Once you are done creating the rules, Go back to NATS, select "enable" and click Submit. Now your setting are saved. See The picture below.


4. Port Mapping - IP Filter rules

Select IP Filter

Set Security Level to High. Everything Else should be set to Deny.

No We are gonna create 3 new IP Filter rules. (This is optional)
Rule ID: 5 - allows all outbound traffic

Entries highlighted in pink color are the only amendments you need to make. Click Submit after making these entries.

Rule ID : 500000denying all incoming traffic

Click Submit after making these entries.



If you need to allow some incoming connection, say for a p2p application, you simply place a rule somewhere between the rules 5 & 500000. Firewall rules are processed in order, counting up from zero.

Rule ID : 6881 allows remote connections to BitTorrent apps

Click Submit after making these entries.

Note: Rule ID 6881 is for your BitTorrent applications. You may have to modify this rule to suit your requirements.

Important Note: When you return to the main IP Filter page, scroll to the bottom of the webpage.Click Submit

5. Commit & Reboot

Select the Admin tab and click Commit & Reboot. This is where your going to apply all the settings to the Modem. First, click Commit and then followed by Reboot.

After doing this, your final settings should be as shown in the picture below

A cap is put and configured to limit the Download and upload speed on DSL. TMnet offer variable speeds and Higher cap (more speed) means more money.. Most users however are capped at 384kb Download and 128kb upload
