The Office Suites - 2009 Member Choice Poll, thanks to all our participating members, had a fine turnout this year - 489 participants
(vs. 393 last year) and a total of 649 votes.

A growing, public awareness of alternatives is clear...

Microsoft Office (including Works and Office:Mac), not unexpectedly, took the lead with a total of 368 votes which computes to only 56% of the vote.

OpenOffice.org earned 184 votes, garnering a whopping 30% of the total vote (vs. last year's 3.5% of the vote).

Other suites being used in numbers, include Apple iWork (Mac), Corel WordPerfect Office (Win), IBM Lotus SmartSuite (Win|OS/2). About 2% report no need for an office suite.

Special thanks goes to our All Things Unix and All things Macintosh members for dropping in to participate. It has helped produce a more realistic and well-rounded set of results.
