You must NOT install Access Manager (also known as Tango or Enternet) in Windows XP.

DO NOT USE ACCESS MANAGER WITH WINDOWS XP, IT WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS!

*Note that Access Manager is not needed with Windows XP or Vista.
Instead, use the built in PPPoE client or install RASPPPoE.

Access Manager is the connection software used to connect to Sympatico for customers with older computers running Windows 95/98/ME.
Access Manager is supplied to Sympatico members in the Sympatico High Speed Start-up kit.

You don't have to use the most recent version of Access Manager. However, upgrading Access Manager will sometimes fix or improve your Sympatico high speed Internet connection.

Download the current version of Access Manager.

NetAssistant is an optional, but free piece of software that can help diagnose and automatically repair problems with your Internet access, email, or web browsing.

Its features include:
- live chat with a Sympatico technical support rep
- Sympatico rep can remotely fix the problem (with your consent)
- self-diagnosis and repairing of computer, email and Internet settings

The program sits in the Windows system tray. It requires Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP and Java to run. More information and download link is available here: »www1.sympatico.ca/help/local/bel···res.html

As a Sympatico HSE or Ultra subscriber, you get 10 free hours of 56K dialup access per month, which you can use when you are on the road or if your high speed service is not working. Dialup roaming is available for free where local Sympatico Dialup numbers exist. Otherwise, long distance charges may apply. Click here for a list of dialup numbers.

While expressly prohibited in the User Agreement, Sympatico seems to tolerate its customers running servers. There have been no reports on this site of customers having their service suspended for running a server.

The exception is the use of SMTP servers, since all traffic through port 25 is blocked. See /faq/8457 for more info.
