You might have received a small box when the technician installed this modem. This is actually a USB adapter that would let you use the modem on with a USB interface if you do not have a network card. However, the company that made those adapters do not support it anymore, and drivers are only available for Windows 98,ME and 2000. If you migrate to Windows XP, the incompatibility might prevent Internet from working. Network cards are cheap now, it is the best solution!

Note: Com21 does not exist anymore. Castelnet recently acquired them, and you can find a little bit of information about Com21 hardware on their website.
