What is PWS? (#5801)

PWS is an often used acronym for "Personal Web Space", a service included with your Verizon account.

Section 9, TOS Revision VE-4.12 states:

"9. PERSONAL WEB SPACE: Personal Web Space ("PWS") may be made available to you as an optional feature of the Service. Additional terms and conditions applicable to PWS, including pricing if applicable, are posted in the PWS area of the My Account page on the Website. In the event of a breach by you of this Agreement or the terms and conditions applicable to PWS, Verizon Online has the right immediately to terminate your PWS without notice. Verizon Online has the right to delete all data, files, and other information stored on or for your PWS upon termination of your Service for any reason. You understand that we do not provide telephone technical support for PWS."

10 megabytes of space, however, many older accounts are still set at 5MB. The folks at Verizon are aware of this problem and are actively working on a solution to mass-migrate thousands of accounts instead of doing each by hand. News will be posted in The Verizon newsgroups 0.verizon.adsl and/or 0.verizon.announce when the problem is rectified.

1. Start by logging into https://support.verizon.net/members/pws/pws.cgi or - You will be prompted for your username and password. Make sure the "[x] remember me" checkbox is marked and accept the Verizon cookie.

2. If this is the first time you're accessing your PWS, you must activate your webspace from: https://support.verizon.net/members/pws/pwhreg.cgi

3. Once activated, you may manage your webspace by going to: http://members.verizon.net:800/cgi-bin/ - Once there you will be able to review your space usage, allocated amount of space, and other administrative tasks.

Switch to /public_html . All your content must begin there. You should have an index.html or index.htm file as the Verizon webserver will NOT generate directory listings on the fly.
