| | | Linksys Setup
Setup Page: setup screenshot ALL USERS ROUTER NAME: Enter what you wish or leave it blank. DOMAIN: Enter your ISP's domain or leave it blank. LAN IP ADDRESS: 192.168.1.1 (default router IP do not change) (you will thank me later if your router ever loses its settings)
PPPoE USERS: (x) OBTAIN AN IP ADDRESS AUTOMATICALLY
PPPoE (x) Enable USERNAME: Your Username. PASSWORD: Your Password. (x) Connect on Demand: Max Idle Time 0 Min. (x) Keep Alive.
STATIC IP USERS: (x) Specify an IP Address: Enter your IP address here. SUBNET MASK: Enter your Subnet Mask IP here. DEFAULT GATEWAY: Enter Your Gateway IP here. DNS 1,2,3: Enter you DNS IPs here.
Status Page: Status Page: status screenshot
PPPoE USERS: In this status page you will find very useful information if you plan on using internal static IP addresses.
Once you have setup your router, and connected.. you will find on this page the following information that you may want to write down:
IP ADDRESS: This is your current IP Address (very important) SUBNET MASK: Your current Subnet Mask DEFAULT GATEWAY: Your Gateway IP. (important for traceroutes) DNS 1,2,3: Your DNS IPs. (very important)
Network Settings: PC network screenshot
ALL USERS All you need in here to share your connection on each PC is the following:
1) NIC (network interface card) any brand and speed will do 2) TCP/IP (the internet protocol)
You may have NetBEUI for internal file/printer sharing.
TCP/IP ADDRESS: pc tcp/ip screenshot
ALL USERS: My suggestion here is that you setup a Static IP for each of your PCs.
Now I like to use the following range of numbers 192.168.1.101 to 192.168.1.199 .. but you may use what you wish.
TCP/IP WINS Config: pc wins screenshot
ALL USERS: Just make sure that you have WINS Resolution disabled.
TCP/IP Gateway: pc gateway screenshot
ALL USERS: Enter your router's IP address as your gateway. 192.168.1.1
TCP/IP DNS: pc dns screenshot
ALL USERS: ***** VERY IMPORTANT ***** Remeber I had you look at your status page of the router for your DSN numbers. This is where you must inter those IP addresses.
If you do not enter the DNS numbers in here you will not be able to browse the net unless you know the IP number for all the sites out there.
ONCE AGAIN >> HERE IS WHERE YOU MUST ENTER YOUR DNS IPS
