Problem with firewall and remote access through a 2701HG-T

I've recently installed XAMPP, a web server. I forwarded all the necessary ports, 80 for Apache, 21 for FileZilla, etc. and everything went out pretty good.

The problem came when, after some testing, I'd notice that when accessing the server from inside the local network, it has no problem to do it. And when accessing it from the outside, using the public IP, it works, buy tends to time out a lot.

After investigating the problem, and discarding the whole load of possible culprits, I ended up in the router's firewall.

When the firewall is active and with only the necessary ports forwarded, it tends to cause the time outs. But when I enable DMZPlus for the PC that hosts the server, it works without any problem.

I know many would say, -leave it in DMZPlus and the problem's over-, but I would not like to do that, as it isolates that PC from the local network, besides making it hugely unsafe. Would there be any way to use the firewall normally, with only the necessary ports forwarded, without the problem of the timeouts?

Thanks in advance.

2701-HG B Public IP issue.

Hello, so here is a quick rundown of my setup. I have a server that was freshly installed with server 2008, it has a dual port nic. I just installed this 2701-HG B and got everything connected and all the devices can access the internet just fine. I also have a bank of 5 static IP's.
To configure the public IP for the server I did the following.
1. Enabled the "Public Routed Subinterface"
2. Gave it the first of my 5 static ip addresses x.x.x.24
3. The subnet att gave me 255.255.255.248 is not a valid subnet for this IP so I used 255.255.0.0 and the router took that just fine.
4. I went to the address allocation table and found the server NIC that I want to use for my external connection. I then disabled the firewall on this connection and told it to use a public IP, from the dropdown I then selected the next IP in the range ATT had provided x.x.x.25
5. The router then stated to renew DHCP which I did and now the server's external nic gets the ip of x.x.x.25.

I cannot ping this nic in the server from an outside connection. Could ATT have given me incorrect information in terms of my static IP bank? Or did I configure something wrong in setting up the public IP? Any ideas?

Port Forwarding Issue, Stealthed Ports? [2700HG-B]

Firmware version: 5.29.109.5

I'm wringing my hair out here guys. I'm familiar with port forwarding and I've done it before on an old 2wire (recently fried) with much success. Added user-defined applications and assigned them to my computer, multiple ports. Even had the comp DMZPlus'd but to no avail.

Every time I tried to port forward anything and check on http://www.canyouseeme.org, none of my ports actually can be seen. The connection always times out. When user-defined applications are not assigned and when not DMZPlus'd, the connection is refused, so there's a difference between the cases. I believe the ports are just invisible or stealthed.

Even turned off my software firewall. No difference.

Tried to see if it'd be different on a different PC with different software firewall that uses the same modem. Same results.

So any help would be appreciated, because I already searched through the forums and google'd it for the umpteenth time to see if I can find a solution. It seems that a few people have had the same issues with the 2701HG-B before.

Would consulting a tech from my ISP actually help resolve this issue?

Connect Wireless Automatically

I have a 2Wire 2701HG-T that I use for my wireless in my hotel. What do I have to do to so that my guests computers are automatically assigned an ip address on their computer. I always have to force the address onto their laptops. And that is a pain in the @#%.

2700HG-B keeps powercycling

Started early 09/24 (like around 0200 EDT):

My 2700HG-B started powercycling by itself every 15-20minutes.

This is the least of my problems though. I cannot access the web interface (port 80 is closed), it's stopped doing DHCP (nothing listening on UDP 67), and holding in the reset button for any length of time does not reset it to factory settings (in fact, it just reboots the device and the device connects to DSL just as before).

As I posted over in the ATT Northeast forum, my personal theory is that CMS pushed a bad firmware update.

Help? :)

Unlocking Bell Sympatico 2Wire 2701HG-G Modem

Fellow Forum Users:

I've posted a note about the the 2Wire used by Bell Canada's Sympatico Service some time ago. I wanted to force the 2Wire into bridge mode ahead of our own home wireless router.

While my original note received some good answers and solutions, the results were negative. No attempt to unlock this blessed piece of technology worked. I calling 2Wire support which resulted in assumptions that the firmware was not locked down.

There has to be a way into this modem. Why would Bell lock it down if they couldn't get into it to do their so-called 'troubleshooting and snooping'. How ever they log into it would be the only way to reset it, I would think.

Anyone have suggetions?

1800HG wireless keeps shutting off

It's only recent that this started to happen. I just got windows 7, but this started happening just before, so its not windows 7 thats the problem, but the wireless in the modem keeps shutting off every once in a while. Like once or twice a day...

Another thing I notice with this modem is that when I go to the "home" menu for the modem, under Home Network, I still see a bunch of computers connected to the network. They are all names of computers that we plugged into the network some time before and they just stay on that list and aren't grayed out. They are colored, indicating that they are connected to the network. Does the modem really think that? I don't know why else the wireless keeps shutting off. I don't do much downloading through out the day...

2wire 1000sw DHCP Class changed, how to change it back?

Windows Vista Home Premium on wireless laptop
2wire 1000sw
xbox
Onkyo TX-NR807

So... first of all newbie here, please excuse any non-technical terms.

So my IP for my network used to be 172.16.0.1. Then I got a router to use at mom's house for wireless. I hooked it up at home to test it and also to see if I could use it temporarily to hook up my xbox and Onkyo to the network at the same time until I got myself what I needed. It came up with the IP 192.168.1.0. It is a Dlink WPN824v3. It wasn't working how I wanted, maybe because I ended up with two routers?

So now I haven't had the Dlink hooked up and the 2wire is using the 192 IP. Googling has led me to believe that I am now on a lower class setting for IP ranges. I don't know if this matters at all but it seems to me I'd like to get it back to what it was before. Or is this better?

I don't know if I changed anything to make this happen. I was playing around with port forwarding to get TVersity and xbox to work together. Now I'm trying to get my Onkyo network working so I can use the internet radio function and I cannot get it to work. It is coming up with the 192 IP as well.

So I figure I should get my router back to the original class/IP settings, can anyone tell me how to do this? And does it even matter?

Thanks.
