Toyota finally gets a black eye!

It's about time they get a black eye.All the years of American vehicle recalls got slammed bad by the media.Seems Toyota got in a crack now.First blaming the floor mats. Now they don't even have any idea why the fly-by-wire is getting stuck at part throttle.I hope the consumers finally realize Toyota is not all the great.
It will hurt their sales by not being able to sell the cars in production with the same recall parts installed.Still seems funny.I have yet to see the BIG T in the background on the local news channel like they did Ford.

Worst car you've driven/ridden in?

Thought this might be a fun topic to discuss. Think back to all your automotive experiences and think about the worst car you've ever had to drive, or ride in.

Mine was a rental car, a Daihatsu in Guatemala. It was a manual with no indication of what gear you were in. Needless to say it was a rough ride, and Guatemala's horrid roads didn't help.

what say you?

Bracketless Wiper Blades

I tried the Rain-X brand Latitude blades and was not impressed. The blades worked excellent when new, streak free and always stayed tight against the windshield even at speed. But they did not seem to hold up well in the snow and ice conditions here. The edge seems to wear and start streaking in less time that a $20 blade should. The cheap $2.50 Anco blades lasted longer.

But I like the idea of a bracket less blade. No hinges and brackets to freeze up in this winter weather. No rubber 'boot' over the bracket to fall apart like in standard winter blades. So I tried the Bosch Revolution. So far so good. Streak free and seem to be holding up well in the weather. They were on sale for $12.

Have any of you guys or gals tried any of these new bracket less blades? What brand and what is your opinion?

Why Should I Buy "Dexcool" Anti-Freeze Instead Of Normal?

My car's ownership says that I should only buy Dexcool anti-freeze for my Chevy Venture, but it's freaking expensive, why shouldn't I use normal green anti-freeze which is half the price?

Do you use synthetic Oil, or bean based Pensiol? I switched to Synthetic for my car. I mean why not? Get more than 3-4 thousand miles for just a little bit more. I know a lot like Castrol GTX, or Mobil One. Does anyone use that Royal Purple synthetic oil?

Do You "Cool Off" Your Car In Long Trips? (Ridiculous!)

Okay this might as well be a sister thread to "Do you warm up your car in winter?", I today had an arguement on the subject of people letting their cars "take a rest" while in long, cross-state drives. While I endorse warming up your car in winter I think that letting your car "cool off" in long drives is ridiculous.

I work for a company that has dozens of these diesel engines that are used for dredging and pumping water out of ponds and extremely wet areas where buildings are being built. These pumps are sometimes running at about 75% to 80% full throttle for up to 4 months, 24/7. They are only stopped 5 minutes a day to check the oil. These things are in the same spot during those 4 months.

Now why would I pull off the road to let my car engine's "cool off" on a 12-hour trip from Buffalo,NY to North Carolina for example, as many people do? If my company's truck engines can run at 75% throttle for 4 months straight while static, while should I worry about my car's engine running 12 hours straight with 70 m.p.h. winds hitting the radiator cooling it off?

Discuss.
