[Internet] Tampa (Pasco) Moto SB6141 - Slower speeds when not re

I bought a Motorola SB6141 to replace my BHN rented Motorola SB5120. After getting it provisioned on the network I've been receiving RR STANDARD speeds which CS/T3 calls and a hands-off field tech visit have not resolved/shed any useful information.

I previously was subscribing to "Turbo Plus" (20/1) and upgraded to Lightning 60 (60/2) to fully utilize with the new D3 modem, however the best I can get is 12/1.2 which BHN CS/T3 says is "within Turbo advertised speeds."

The modem reports within range parameters from what I've been told.

Down: 615-657 bHz, SNR 37dB, Pwr -1 dBmV, QAM256
Up: 242-362 bHz, 44-45 dBmV

1% errored CWT

After doing some searching, and having a hands-off-equipment roll out visit.. I know:

1) There is newer firmware that can only be applied by BHN according to Motorola,

2) My line has next to no packetloss, line simulated 82/6 stream today

I have an appointment for a charged visit in a couple days that will allow the BHN PC Tech to make any changes to my equipment at my cost/authorization.

Other ISPs apparently push the newer firmware.. anyone have a similar experience with this equipment with BHN?

[Internet] Best Routers for Bridged Networks

There has been a few pages in the http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r24683436-Get-The-Most-Out-Of-Your-Wideband-Connection~start=180 thread about which routers are best for those bridging there BHN cable modems.

@ispgeek and myself have recently purchased the ASUS RT-N56U (available from Amazon for $130, www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0049YQVHE ). So far this router, which runs 802.11n in the 2.4 & 5GHz ranges simultaneously, is nothing short of incredible (for a router, that is).

@ispgeek ran some tests, here is the info quoted from the other thread:

So far so good. I maxed out my Netflix connections at 6 and only stopped there because I ran out of accounts to use (had to borrow from everyone in the family as I'm limited to only two streams at once) and it didn't even phase that bugger especially with everything else going on with that connection. I imagine the guys at DD-WRT are working hard to port a version for it as well but honestly the UI isn't all that bad and it's packed with features already. Pretty much anything you can think of is already covered in the stock UI.

Here are my last speed test (off my site) results with it...it just doesn't get much better than this folks...

[Tampa] Cable Box reboots at least one time per nigh

Before it reboots there is a warning REBOOT BY HOST PROVIDER
- then it will go on for a few minutes before the reboot interrupts your show for minutes .In addition we have the weekly test of the emergency signal ( almost every two or three days - yeah you gonna tell us federal law or whatever requires you FCC rules - why NOT DURING COMMERCIALS or when our great politicians hold boring speeches ?
Why this constant rebooting during between 2- 5 at night???
Are we cable watchers of a lesser value and being punished for having different work schedules.
There used to be a time when things were SIMPLE AND WORKED
FOR A LOT OF LESS MONEY

There are people who have a convincing reply for everything, their
brain shifts gear and they find the best excuses in the world and convince you it can't be done in another way - a guarantee to succeed in life.

All we are saying is this is a COMMON ISSUE COMMON COMPLAINT
BUT IGNORED . Why not FIX it that is does not need to reboot ? Or at least say . Please reboot your box within the next 24 hours and the CONSUMER CAN SET THE TIME WHEN IT REBOOTS

[Internet] Netflix Open Connect on Brighthouse networks?

Netflix is now offering 1080p "Super HD" movies, including 3D movies. I went to their site, https://signup.netflix.com/superhd, and it says:

"Your Internet Provider is not configured for Super HD yet."

"How do I get Netflix Super HD?

Netflix Super HD requires that your Internet Provider is part of the Netflix Open Connect network. Please contact your Internet Provider to request that they join the Netflix Open Connect network so you can get Super HD."

So, I'm here to ask Brighthouse to join the Netflix Open Connect network.

Thanks.

Twitch.TV VoD Painstakingly Slow Load

Trying to watch most any VoD on Twitch.TV results in 2 seconds of loading, 1-2 seconds of playing, 2 seconds of loading and so on. If I pause the video it will continue to load for a while and then I resume play and it catches back up to the buffered point fairly quickly.

Everything I can find on this is the isp and the routing of how it handles the traffic to twitch.tv. Is there any available work around for us users in CFL?

Thank you.

[TV] Whole House DVR pixelating/stuttering issue

I noticed there was a bright house tech on here. Maybe he can figure this out because it has been driving us crazy for the last few months. We were hoping it would fix itself but it hasnt, seemed to gotten worse.

On the non dvr box in the bedroom if we try to watch recorded programs, almost every time it seems, the program will start playing but will be pixelated and it slow mo/stuttering. When it does this exiting the show and trying to replay it yields the same results. The only way to resolve this seems to be to unplug both the bedroom box and the DVR box in the other room. Once they are plugged back in and reboot, i go to play to recorded show and it plays fine. it is very aggrevating and i am about to switch from brighthouse to another service because of this.

I have checked my SNR and db levels on the boxes and also the MOCA speeds on the diagnostics screen on each box and they all are in the proper range. Is it a defective box then? Which one? The dvr or non dvr box?

Please help.

Thanks,

Mike

[Bakersfield] Does BHN offer internet with same bandwidth up/dow

All I see are asymmetric internet packages that have incredible download speeds but comparatively pathetic upload speed. I can download a linux cd in a few minutes but the same cd would take 10x longer if I sent it to someone over a file transfer. You can say its what customers want (faster downloads), but how would they really know if you never offer anything different. The internet shouldn't be modeled like a car.

If you could add a product, feature or make a change...

I've been pondering this thread for some time so here goes...

If you could be CEO for a day and add a product, feature or make a change to the way BHN does things what would it be? Think long and hard about your answer. Be specific and be prepared to defend your decision (in all the right ways of course) because someone might disagree with you.

There are some ground rules though. This thread is not for rants, complaints or lower my bill stuff as there are other threads and forum sections for such things. Everyone is expected to remain civil and respectful and on topic at all times. Any deviation from the above and I will request that the moderator remove your post.

The purpose of this thread is to openly discuss what you feel would be a great addition to BHN products, services or an improvement in some way and also to put you in the position of CEO making those big decisions for just one day. :)

You just never know who's watching and you might have a great idea that makes everyones life just a little bit easier or more enjoyable.

[Internet] Connection Issues - Both Connectivity and Gateway

Hi, whoever decides to read this, I've been having a few issues with my internet for quite a while and I've also fixed a few that I've encountered (such as moving the modem to the other side of a metal cabinet resulting in much less connection issues).

I'll try providing as much information as I can, but I can't connect to the actual modem at this moment (would require a restart and by the time someone reads this I would most likely have to restart it again) so I'll just wait to provide any of those details later if need be.

Occasionally my internet will "cut out" for a few seconds at a time (5-15) and then be fine for a few minutes (1-20) this will happen for multiple hours but won't happen frequently. During the cut outs all internet connection is lost and I have to wait for a few seconds before it comes back. More information provided with this little issue, I noticed that during the times of connection loss the event log in the modem was giving a few "Critical (3)" errors specifically during the few hours it was acting up.

Here are what the errors look like:

It first starts out with a DHCP lease renew (I believe? I'm not experienced at all with modem/internet terms) and then goes into some errors that I've read are common if you see them only occasionally and don't experience any sort of connection issues.

Notice (6) DHCP Renew - lease parameters Time Prorocol Servers modified

Critical (3) Started Unicast Maintenance Ranging - No Response Received - ...

Critical (3) Unicast Maintenance Ranging attempted - No response - Retried...

Critical (3) DHCP FAILED - Requested Info not supported. *This bit makes me think there's an error with the DHCP server?*

Notice (6) TLV-11 - unrecognized OID

Critical (3) Started unicast Maintenance Ranging - No Response received - ...

Critical (3) Unicast Maintenance Ranging attempted - no response - Retried...

Critical (3) no Ranging Resposne received - T3 time-out

It then repeats that process exactly two more times over the next four hours. So, the first line was at 6:31 and it ends at 10:37 with a Started Unicast Maintenance Ranging - No Response received - ... error.

I'm assuming the modem (by the way, since I haven't mentioned it yet it's a hybrid router+modem by Ubee) restarted after this considering I was able to log into it and view these error logs (nether I or anyone in my house touched the router before, during, or after these errors).

Which brings me to my next issue: Basically, 9.9 times out of 10 I can never connect to my modem via the default gateway (192.168.0.1 as shown by ipconfig/all), whenever I attempt to I receive a "The connection has timed out The server at 192.168.0.1 is taking too long to respond." error.

I'm fairly sure it has nothing to do with any firewall/antivirus software on my computer as I've disabled the firewall + behavior blocker manually during the internet issues and completely closed the application as well.

Oh, I've also noticed I can't connect to the gateway via the secondary computer in the house that is hooked up to said modem via ethernet whenever it is bugging out for my own computer (which utilizes wifi).

I think that's all the explaining I need to do.. So I'll just provide information regarding to hardware.

I *think* I've narrowed it down to either faulty hardware, wiring, or my adapter.. Maybe even a combination of all of them. Oh, the power levels of my modem were normal as well. When I looked the value that is supposed to be between -5 to 5 (some people say -10 to 10) was 0.9 and the value that was supposed to be between 40 and 50 dB was 47 with (what I believe was the SNR.. It had a weird name like "Mx(other letters which have escaped my mind)" was around 35.

By the way, I don't know much about IPv6, but if there are any benefits to having it enabled/disabled information about that would be helpful. =)

P.S. Long stretch of text, but I was expecting spoilers to create a small button to minimize/maximize the text size. Oh well! Any help is much appreciated!
