[TWC] I'm now ineligible for the promised $200 gift card

So we were talked into switching from our telco to TWC and part of the promotion at the time was that we had to keep our account in good standing for 3 months and get a $200 gift card. So end of four months and nothing yet so I called up. Come to find that we were suppose to register for this card in the first month, provide all this paper work that we did come from a competitor. The rep never told us about the registration. Just that we had to keep our account in good standing. So two reps down and now up to a manager to see what can be done. So far the story is sorry but there is nothing we can do for you now.

Anyone else have this issue or have any suggestions?

Website will not load within a 20-30 mile radius

Has anyone ever had any luck reaching one of Time Warner's network engineers? My internet overall is working fine, but the one secure site I need to access for my job has been unable to load since May 1st. An area is apparently affected, as the site also will not work at friends' places who live 20 miles away. People with Time Warner who live further away, the site works with no problems. A friend suggested that TWC is having a routing problem from the CMTS in my immediate area to the web server where the site is hosted and that they might have changed up their peering. I really need to get this resolved since my job depends on it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

[TWC] How are these signals?

Hello,
I just moved and again signed up for TWc and the standard service. I think the standard service is 15MB/down.

I am having issues here. When I check my speed it is between 2 and 5MB, and sometimes bursts to 11MB.

How are these signals?

[TWC] UGH! IS TWC preparing to cap us?

Why else put this on TWC support page unless it is in preparation to cap us?

I couldn't check my usage because I don't have an account at TWC to log into and I see no reason to have such an account since I pay my bill in person each month at Oceanic's office and I call Oceanic if I have a problem or go to the office so I don't need a TWC account for chat that I don't use.

This checker is so new that if you click on the FAQ link there is nothing there yet.

IPv6 is live in Austin

I swapped my modem from the 6580 that TWC rents to my own 6141 and was wondering why I was only getting connectivity to one of my computers (phone wouldn't connect on my WiFi).

As it turns out, TWC has now enabled my account for IPv6 and my router had no idea what to do (it's just forwarding the v6 traffic on).

It also appears as though my workstation's MAC address has been tied to my TWC account, such that no amount of modem rebooting will re-associate the MAC to the router (which is odd, since I've never connected my workstation directly to the modem). Thank goodness for the cloned MAC function on my router.

Proof: went to bgp.he.net and...

Prior to getting the MAC cloning in place, I couldn't access v4-only sites (and I had to manually add Google's v6 DNS to get v6 resolution up and running). It's a lonely world out there on v6-only, though Google and Facebook are 100% available.

EDIT: Even more odd, my modem says that it's in IPv4 Only mode. Yet I'm definitely dual-stacked (though Time Warner Cable's v6 peering is pretty bad).

Twitch.tv Issues (Chime in!)

Figured I would plop this post here and see how you may fare on watching streams on twitch.tv after 4:00 PM (EST) to around midnight or 1 AM EST. (Yes you reading this post! Even if you don't have TWC!)

Here's an example:
http://www.twitch.tv/draco_/c/2139496
(TWC Hudson Valley NY, 30/5... when can we have 10 Mbps up?)

FYI, I can cast (read: upload) just fine to Twitch in upwards to 4 Mbps regularly without much issue for my 1080p cast. So the upstream route is absolutely fine to their ingest servers. Watching streams is a whole 'nother matter and that route appears completely broken. Sometimes the throughput appears lacking, but other times it sharply fluctuates and causes *any* bitrate pushed by that caster to stall completely. Very similar to YouTube videos as of late that are stalling out from downloading or just having varied speeds.

Also, just putting this forward: Traceroutes are pointless since they do not reach the destination. This has been going on for months now. Opening a VPN to Japan (therefore changing the route) appears to resolve the issue. I've heard even TWC in Texas and Ohio have had similar ongoing problems. And yes, this has been posted multiple times on help.twitch.tv as well.

Either way, just wanted to open some specific discussion to any fellow viewers on TWC having similar problems. Chime on in! Let us know if you're experiencing the same! Where you're watching from and when? I would love for TWC to chime in and help or work with Twitch or the route to them, but I sadly don't see that happening unless more people speak up on this. So this is my attempt to spark a flame to this issue.

I401.0 TLV-11 - unrecognized OID - should I be worried?

Today morning there was work performed in my area and I had loss of sync, now everything is back but modem shows these notices in log:

I401.0 TLV-11 - unrecognized OID anyone know if this is anything to worry about?

Yes I did try searching and got some answers but in most cases people have other problems when this error occurs like net going out and resetting, and I have no problems but I wonder what this notice means.

When I looked at docsis document all I could find is this:

TLV-11 Failures
Init TLV-11 PARSING Notice TLV-11 –
unrecognized OID
I401.0 73040100
docsDevCmInitTLVUnknownTrap

"Event due to detection of unknown TLV during the TLV parsing process. The values of docsDevEvLevel, docsDevId, and docsDevEvText are from the entry which logs this event in the docsDevEventTable. The docsIfDocsisBaseCapability indicates the DOCSIS version information. The docsIfCmStatusDocsisOperMode indicates the QOS level of the CM, while the docsIfCmStatusModulationType indicates the upstream modulation methodology used by the CM. The ifPhysAddress value is the MAC address of the cable interface of this cable modem. The docsIfCmCmtsAddress specifies the MAC address of the CMTS to which the CM is connected (if there is a cable card/ interface in the CMTS, then it is actually the MAC address of the cable interface which connected to the CM). This part of information is uniformed across all CM traps."

But I am not sure what this means.

TWC dallas just a matter of time before 8 ch. downstream?

Looks like the TWC Dallas system cleared out 2 QAM slots to make room for 8 channel DOCSIS bonding and these were the changes:

57MHz new QAM that carriers Discovery Channel HD
147MHz new QAM that carries what was on 675MHz
231MHz new QAM that carries what was on 681MHz

these QAMs are currently open to make room for 8 channel bonding:
675MHz
681MHZ

So I am wondering does anyone know when TWC will start to move each hub in North Texas to 8 downstream bonding? ???

[TWC] Switching to bridge mode and using a netgear wndr4000 rout

I have the Extreme package from TWC and the UBEE modem/router that they gave us is just awful. I am unable to play ps3 for more than 5 minutes before it just lags uncontrollably (while my 4 bar connection is maintained in-game) and I eventually get kicked completely off the PSN and am unable to reconnect unless I restart my ps3.

I've had some issues getting the modem to bridge mode and getting the router to work. When I switch the modem to bridge mode and use the router and get my desktop wired it says I am connected to the internet, but I'm unable to actually access the internet. Can anyone help?

[TWC] Moca confussion HELP!

How to setup Actiontec Moca adapters ecb2500c with TWC internet?
(Actiontec will only allow me to speak to sales prior to purchase. I would like to have everything I need b4 that in case I need to return devices for some reason)

------------------------------------------
My Setup:
Outside home:  Drop->3 way splitter
______________________________________________

Inside home:
Room 1 wall coax-> STB
                  Room 2 wall coax->modem->router
                  Room  3 wall coax->STB
------------------------------------------------

I want to provide Ethernet via Actiontec Moca ecb2500c btwn room 2 and room 3.

1)What is the proper setup for My Setup (above)

Setup 1:
Actiontec (sales department) says to split the wall coaxial in Room 2 btwn modem and Actiontec and then connect Actiontec to Router ONLY via Ethernet.

BUT
I also see setups where

Setup 2:
wall coaxial (no splitter)->Actiontec adapter-> coaxial out (STB) to modem AND Actiontec ethernet out to router (basically using the Actiontec as a pass through device to the modem)

>If I connect as Actiontec describes(Setup 1) how will the Moca signals travel?
Will they still somehow flow into or out of my modem. and if so is this a problem? Do I need a POE filter on the Modem?

>If I use the Actiontec as a "pass through" (as in Setup 2) to connect to the modem via coaxial do I need a POE to "shield" it from Moca signals?
or just a POE b4 the Outside three way splitter?

any help appreciated

Motorola SB 6580 Modem Status (Own)

Modem status >>>>>>>>>>>>^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Hello Community,

It has been 6 weeks since my initial install of Time Warner's Ultimate package. I am switched from Windstream, and so far
I am pleased with Time Warner's service. I know DSL pretty well, this is my first time over coax. So I have a few question's some experienced members could answer and provide advice.

I have a Motorola SB 6580 which I purchased new from Radio Shack. I have done some research on what a good line over coax should be. More less, asking is their room for improvements that I can take advantage of. As we all do, we try to clean up the line as much as possible.

However, this was a new install. before I moved to my new residence I asked TWC if they would run a drop out to my home.
They did, and the line ends at my house. So the technician shows up, and I asked him if he would run a direct line from the drop to the modem. As it follows, he did. He run RG-11 hard orange coated coax. Then he run RG-6 for the phone line.

I am ignorant to coax lines forgive me for this next question.
When the line is run directly to the modem from the Tap, is the coax grounded at the tap? Or does the modem itself have the coax grounded? I fear line impulse noise or other line trouble soon, due to the line not grounded at the grounding block on the house.

I also think that my power is a bit high, it will run about 1.9 during the day and about 2.5 at night along with a decent frequency jump on all channels but one, also I loose about 1 db (SNR) at night. So I then thought that the RG-11 was a bit over kill, but the run is about 115ft that is including the pole. I am thinking of downgrading the cable to quad shielded RG-6

I am open to advice, opinion's, so what is your opinion?

Also the cable is still top side, i forgot to mention.

[TWC] I managed to get a Cisco 3010 D3 modem provisioned

My sbg6580 is starting to flake out so I decided to buy a modem I found this modem on Ebay for $34 shipped to my house. I had one of my old friends at Time Warner activate it and it worked. It did take a while for it to start working. I had to do a factory reset to finally get the internet to work on it and it works wonderfully.

The firmware page is very basic, but you don't need much for a stand alone modem.
