[Hockey] Official UFA trade thread

So as not to clutter up the "draft" thread, lets put our July 1st deals in here.

I'll start off with a tasty tidbit that was talked about on Sportsnet earlier (as a possibility). Calgary sings Bowmeester. To clear cap space, they trade Phaneuf to Ottawa for Heatly.

This could be a potential jackpot for Ottawa. Get rid of a high priced player who doesn't want to play for them, and get a young solid defenseman in return. Pair him up with Cowen, and that is a defense to be reckoned with. And if Heatly though Clouston was "tough on him", I can't wait to see what he thinks of Sutter. Sutter will kick his ass if he gets out of line. :D

For $65 home premium seems like a good deal. Don't know why it has to be $15 more expensive (thats more than 25%) than in the states. We are always getting screwed like this...

Well I hope it lives up to its reputation.

'Epic' songs

I put an old Eminem CD in the car stereo for shits and giggles and 'Stan' came on and he was rapping on and mentioned Phil Collins "In the air of the night" and I thought: Oooh, wish I had that song playing right now, remembering just how great a tune it was and how it has withstood the test of time after almost 20 years.

For something completely different, NiN "Fawk you like an animal" always got the ladies hips swaying erotically.

Throw some more out there, I feel like music tonight :)

He's at it again ! Fantino and his OPP are now going to enforce a law regarding kids under 16 out after midnight.

quote:Police are now warning parents that they will be enforcing the Child and Family Services Act, which states that children 16 years old or under must be supervised by someone 18 years old or over, preferably a parent, when they are out between midnight and 6 a.m. Otherwise, police said, they will apprehend the child without a warrant.

When a child is apprehended, the parents will be contacted and be required to pick them up.

Moen Filter ClearChoice 9500

When we bought our current house it came with a box of 2-3 filters for the Kitchen Sink.

It is a Moen Filter ClearChoice 9500 filter.

I can find it on the Moen US site for $30 each replacement filter. They don't seem to ship to Canada.

Anyone know where I can get these replacements in Canada? You'd think if they sold the sink here, the filters would be sold too. They are not at the Home Depot, Lowes or etc.

Change of plans. Forget Washington, how about the EastCoast

Change of plans happened.

The family event we had in Washington (Re: Crossing the US border for my American wife) was canceled. Too many people didn't want to travel this year.

So I have 1 week of vacation starting July 11. My wife asked "Is it possible to see Nova Scotia & PEI?"

So, given 1 week, and not a huge amount of cash, is it possible to see enough of the East Coast to be worth the cost of a flight?

It's last minute, so don't know what to do / expect.

Any suggestions are welcome :)

Billy Bishop is officially credited with 72 victories, making him the top Canadian ace, and according to some sources, the top ace of the British Empire....

In my digital painting I am portraying Billy in his Nieuport 17 fighter which his mechanic painted the plane's nose blue after Billy shot down his 5th enemy plane...Blue nose was the mark of an ace...

More information on Billy Bishop's career here...

I created & painted this image using Corel Paint Shop Pro X2 and Corel Painter IX.5...

Canada's commercial seal hunt protested on nation's birthday

quote:OTTAWA — One of the biggest celebrities on Parliament Hill Wednesday capitalized on the opportunity to speak out against Canada’s seal hunt.

Clad in a powder blue T-shirt with an image of a seal pup drawn on it, Sarah McLachlan condemned Canada’s commercial sealing industry, calling it “perverse and sick.”

McLachlan, the musical headliner at the Canada Day festivities in Ottawa, told CTV news she sees no reason that the hunt should persist.

“It’s terribly inhumane,” she said. “It’s archaic and horrible and I want it to stop.”

Lindsay Rajt, a spokeswoman with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, said the organization was “absolutely thrilled” to see McLachlan perform in one of its “Save the Seals” T-shirts around the same time PETA members across the world were preparing to demonstrate against the Canadian seal hunt.
