T Mobile tower locator

Pretty surprised when I found that T Mobile shares its cell tower locations openly.

So figured I would post it to help anybody looking to go with them
http://www.t-mobiletowers.com/Default.aspx (They even have pictures of most of their towers)

Their coverage map seems like it would be pretty accurate (more so than I can say for AT&Ts or Verizon maps.)

The only quibble I have..is that I think not all their towers are set for 3G, so you won't know where exactly your getting your 3G speeds from..if at all. Wish they would add that to their cell tower locator map.

global SMS via AIM

quote:Just IM the screen name +17185551212, where 7185551212 is the phone number you want to SMS. Add the number to your buddy list for easy access. The +1 country code is required, and (correct me if I'm wrong) this only works in the US. Update: James writes in, "Your tip on sending sms to cell phones also works globally - a friend and I txt'd back and forth via AIM Mobilehttp://lifehacker.com/software/notag/instant-message-a-phone-36537.php

looks like there is no way to send an international SMS any more?

when I try to add a number it only accepts US numbers

and if I try to add the number as a screen name - it says buddy is offline

maybe I'm missing something? :(

[T-Mobile] T Mobiles HSPA+ test network in Philadelphia

So after looking at this thread
http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/Coverage/3G-Expansion-amp-HSPA/td-p/254526

I dug a little deeper to find some info about T Mobile and their "upgrades" for HSPA+ and saw this on Wiki
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolved_HSPA#Deployment

quote:T-Mobile USA has announced its network will support HSPA+ and most upgrades should be completed by the end of 2010. As of December 15, 2009, T-Mobile USA are testing in their Philadelphia market.

So then I searched for reviews on this and found this
http://jkontherun.com/2009/12/08/t-mobile-21-mbps-hspa-network-hands-on/

From that link..check this out..

That's his MOBILE speed test using the new Nokia N900, which from their website claims this
quote:HSPA, maximum speed up to 10 Mbps (DL), 2 Mbps (UL)

http://www.nokiausa.com/find-products/phones/nokia-n900/specifications

The Nexus One phone also supports HSPA+
http://www.google.com/phone/static/en_US-nexusone_tech_specs.html But doesn't say the maximum speeds it can handle..I'm guessing its the same as the N900?

So finally, is anybody here lucky enough to be using T Mobiles HSPA+ test network in Philly? Is it open to customers or just a "insider test"?
