Sycamore Illinois and Water Hardness

I'm purchasing a home in Sycamore and I'm trying to determine what capacity of water softener I need. I checked with a dealer in DeKalb who wouldn't give me a straight answer. They just want to sell me a system and don't want to give out information that I could use to shop around. Called the city and was just told "it's very hard".

Anyone here live in the northern part of Sycamore (around Mt. Hunger Rd. and Rt 23) and can tell me how many G/Gal of hardness I'm dealing with?

I can get a softener at Sears between $400-800, but I can't determine which one I need without having some idea of the G/Gal.

Thanks!

2009 Chicago White Sox Thread

Hello All
Time we start preparing for the Championship on the south side....question remains whom will be our 2nd baseman, 3rd baseman, and perenial problem center field position.

I'm hoping Getz turns it around. I'd also like to see Anderson used only as a utility

Insurance

Anyone here have Allstate? If you don't have Allstate who do you use for homeowners and auto?

I just got my renewal for homeowners and it went up $270. I am waiting for my agent to contact me. Someone from his office said they had a rate hike in IL for 2008 because of hail damage and because I had a claim last year. They paid out about $1000 the rest was deductible because of the hail damage. Yet on the renewal no mention why the price increase.

This was a reason I left Allstate awhile back on the auto side.

I am looking at State Farm, Farmers and American Family.

16" Softball - Bat Question

So what makes a good softball bat for the 16" league? Somebody here must know, I mean we all live in the 16" capital of the world.

From what I've gathered the heavier bats are better, as long as it doesn't slow down your bat speed. But I haven't found much more than that. Does anyone know a good length and weight distribution?

I've read about all the slowpitch bats, but they don't specify 16" or 12". The most popular slow pitch bats are 34/26 (-8) but that sounds a little light for a 16" league, I don't know though. Nobody on my team really knows either, since this is only our second year and we're a young group of guys.

Wrigley Tour. Here are a few pics.

For those that have never taken the Wrigley tour I highly recommend it. Well worth the $25 and the parking in the players lot is free.
Even if you are not a Cub fan do it, it's a very interesting look behind the scenes.

The last shot is my favorite and one of the last ones I took. I love how it has a feeling of high anticipation and excitement.

This was the first time I have been in Wrigley in 15 years other than 2004 when I tried to get tix on the day they went on sale.
I have a problem with the crowds and all of the drunks. I have been thinking of going to the Road to Wrigley game in Aug.

Work Zone Speeding Tix

Looks like IL just upped the ante on the work zone speeding tickets.
Used to be that some work zones might have a camera van and you might get a ticket.

Starting July 1 2009 it will be every zone will have a camera and everybody 1mph over will get a $375 ticket 2nd offense is still the same $1k fine but now includes 90 day suspension of license.

They just read the updated press release on WGN radio.

Remember 45MPH in the work zones guys.
