<title>Terminating Embarq DSL before contract is over.</title>

<description><![CDATA[I had no problems with Embarq until a about week ago when 
I started getting a lot of service interruptions and now no internet at all.

I called them this morning they told me that my IP has been reported for "spamming/phishing" or other policy violation.
 :huh: :(

I asked the lady to be more specific but she kept repeating that I violated some policy.

Now when I asked her to cancel the internet because I have no service, she said I could not because of verbal contract.

What are my choices here?

I am not completely leaving Embarq.  They are still my home phone provider.]]></description>

<title>Cabling(between wall jack and modem)</title>

<description><![CDATA[Three times (twice in last 4 mos) 1.5 down/512up has dropped to about 800dwn and 26kup.

None of the normal checks changed or revealed anything.  Call to customer service resulted in changing out the cable between wall jack and modem.  ("New cables" from modem exchanges listed below.) Each time, the service was restored to normal, about 1.46 dwn and 460 up.  CS Rep says..."those cables go bad"

Questions:
 
What do you use between wall and modem?

Have/Do you experience same issues?

Have a cat 3 (two pair)from NID(and splitter) to a two gang wall jack (voice and data).  Wall to 660 bridged modem to Linksys router.  Running 2 wired XP's and 1 wireless.  All stable.  Have replaced modem twice in 2 1/2 yrs per customer service, before cabling issues.

Thoughts and suggestions appreciated

<title>Embarq DSL Pricing</title>

<description><![CDATA[I've had cable internet service from the local cable company for years now, and the service just keeps getting worse and worse.

I was checking out my options and saw that Embarq lists their DSL service starting at $29.95.  I was interested in the 3.0MB for $39.95 so I called them up.  They ask if I want internet and phone, I tell them just internet.  They tell me it will be $54 a month.

I've never had DSL service before, so it may be well known to everyone else that you are required to pay for the telephone line, but it came as a shocker to me.

The website doesn't have any fine print, asterisks, footnotes, nothing that says DSL service requires local phone service.  In my eyes, this is very decieving, almost like a bait-and-switch.  Why advertise $39.99, knowing full well that it costs much more than that.

I argued with the customer service rep for about 20 minutes on two different occasions, and no avail.  And of course there is no local office in greenwood, sc to talk to someone in person, i'd have to drive several hours to the closest town that has an office.

I was actually blown away,  I was practically begging to become a customer, because i've heard many good things from friends and neighbors about their service.  Most companies nowadays are practically giving away the cow to rope in new customers.

If they would honor the $39.99 price and not require an additional phone line, they could probably put the cable company out of business.  I have two cell phones, why would I need a landline?

Does anyone else feel that the way the pricing is displayed on the website is more than a little misleading?  I would expect maybe some taxes and regulatory fees, but to completely leave out the fact that you must have a phone line?]]></description>

<title>embarq customer service still a joke</title>

<description><![CDATA[my dsl is slow tonight so i tried the chat support only to be told that they couldn't help me and that i should call for support.  i did that and after 20 minutes and two different speed tests i was transferred to "advanced" support.  i have now been on hold for another 30 minutes.  i should be getting 5meg but am getting less than 200K.  last time it took several calls over 2 days just to be told that it was a system problem and that they were working on it.  i am still on hold - I wonder if anyone at embarq can actually provide any useful assistance?  ]]></description>

<title>Can not Get Basic Phone Service let alone Broadband service</title>

<description><![CDATA[What does one have to do to get Embarq to provide me phone service .  I am moving into a new House in north Carolina in a new development.  One half of the development is all lit up with Embarq and the folks on that side are happy with the service.  I live less than 3 miles from that side and i can not get basic phone service.  I have gotten all kinds of excuses from my address does not exist , to it is not on the E911 registry to the developer has not given them access.  All of which i have found are not true ( sent embarq a copy of the contract they signed for easement).  Not sure how i can get them to help .

<title>Speed low from 7-12</title>

<description><![CDATA[Hey guys I've been using embarq for more than a year now never had such problems 3 days ago I started pinging high on game servers (cod4) the same thing happened the day after. So I thought I might have a virus/spyware on my computer using my bandwidth I decided to format my computer and reinstall windows but seems like it didn't work and the problem is with the isp. I ran a speed test and it came out to 2.01 mbps I've subscribed to 3.0mbps and never before have I fallen below 2.9-8mbps in speed tests. I ran the test again during 12:15 am and my speed was 2.9 mbps.
I'm not on wireless and its definitely the isp. When I chatted with a tech support online she said 2.01 is in the range and seems normal????? I know its not and the speed tests show its not either.

What should I do?
usually I ping 79-81 on chi servers now my ping fluctuates from 80-140 it keeps jumping up and down.

<title>Horrible latency on WOW</title>

I can ping all servers and they are fine but when I get in the game it just dies. I am running through Wine on linux, but I have previously played and had fine.
