Horrible upload speed

I'm on the 3 / 640K plan. My upload speed is dreadful. Has been for a long, long time. I finally talked support into sending a new modem and it went from 80k to 105k. Does anyone have any ideas why I can't get anywhere near 640k?

DSL v Cable for Gaming

I will soon be simultaneously running 5 mb service from Embarq and Charter Cable. I want to be sure that the pings are acceptable on the DSL for online gaming before I cancelled the Charter service. I have three children who would disown me if I messed up their gaming experience. My eldest has gotten me hooked on Battlefield 2142 so I have a personal stake in the question.

I have been reading about fast-path vs interleave. Could someone please post exactly who I need to contact to try to get switched to fast-path since nobody I have spoke to so far has a clue. From what I have read, there is no guarantee that I qualify for fast-path...something about the level of line noise in my neighborhood. Could someone clarify this, please.

Embarq Customer Support

Have had Embarq DSL (1.5/512) for a year now and service has been very good. Today, after 4 days of subpar down and up(900/32)I called Embarq Tech Support.

The Tech Rep was courteous and knowledgeable and walked thru a couple of areas that may have been problems. We were able to get modem to regain original speeds, but would occasional drop back to slow speed. Resolution to replace modem.

I realize that everyone's case is different, but I can only salute this person(Yemi)in Orlando.

Wanted to express a good result and thank you for the service.

Going From 3MB to 5MB Need some advice

Hey guys my family decided to suprise me today and upgraded our service from 3mb-5mb. I didn't even know 5mb was available here. I can see the DSLAM out the window so distance wise I'm good ;) Anything else I should watch for? I do have one of the newer 645 modems on DHCP (not a 660) that concerns me some but I see some folks running 5mb with a 645. Any advice would be appreciated this is my first upgrade.
