8/29 - 9/1 Rolex Vintage Car Festival in NW CT

Likely the most spectacular car show on the US East Coast,
from antique Formula 1 collectibles, to mid 50s rag top Ferraris, to stuff like'70s Volvo wagons with 327 Chevies in
'em, or restored Unimogs, Land Rovers & Willys. Then there's a few hundred US antique cars.
You name it, and if it runs or rolls, and it's probably here.

Fishers in northeast CT?

No, not fishers as in rod and reel, I was thinking fisher cats.
I saw something cross the road yesterday that looked like a cross between an otter and a ferret. Bushy fur, dark brown. I was able to stop and watch it for a while.

Are they common this far south in New England?

[INFO] Use MMO (Marvel Mystery Oil) As Heating Oil Additive!

Well that's what I do, and I had started in early 2007, when the price of oil started to go up. I've tested one of my 2x 250 gallon tanks out with MMO 2 quarts (32 oz) and 1x 16 oz into 250 gallon tank.

Per 100 gallons = 1x 32oz of MMO
Per 50 gallons = 1x 16oz of MMO

What this does is raise the BTU level to hotter flame that heats the house quicker and thus using less oil to do it. Also keep fuel line clear and gets rid of the sluggish dirt that get burned up the chimney.

I have oil steam water system with tankless water heater for hot water. I've replace the boiler also as it was bad when I got this place up here. I got Crane radiators which are newer was here prior.

The new oil contract arrived. It is for $4.59/9! That is quite a jump from the $2.52/9 I was paying.

Has anyone else got a price for a new oil contract yet?

Connecticut Faces a School Tax Revolt

This is a very interesting article from the Wall Street Journal: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121944926645165231.html

quote:This spring Avon, Farmington, Stonington and Ridgefield -- all affluent communities -- rejected the politicians' original spending plans. On June 17, the voters of suburban West Hartford, where public schools have often ranked among the best in the state, rejected the town budget by a lopsided 7,037 to 3,711. As of the end of June, a record 85 of Connecticut's 169 municipalities had or were planning budget referenda; and the median approved spending increase was 3.8%, lower than the 5% last year and 5.3% in 2006.

Great Olympic OPening Ceremonies

Did ya'll see the opening ceremonies last night? It was incredible. Between the technology and the human precision in the various sets, it was breath taking.

Hat's off to the folks who worked so hard to make that happen.
