[FOOD] Coming to CT, where should I eat?

I am headed to CT near the end of the week. I'll be up there for not quite 2 weeks. As a belated birthday present, I have been told I can go out to eat at the place of my choice, within reason, of course. Since I don't know what is there too well, I said Pepe's for pizza, but I am thinking that there might be other great choices.

My favorite foods:

Salvadoran
Vietnamese
Thailand
Some Filipino (I love Halo Halo and Calderetta)
Mexican (the real stuff)
Some Japanese
love Italian
love Indian
Cuban and related Islands such as Puerto Rican
Some Chinese, if it is really authentic (no junky buffets)
German/Swiss
French
Spanish

My favorite 3 foods are pizza, pupusas, and Phô. The latter two are Salvadoran and Vietnamese, respectively. I also love Vietnamese/French sandwiches, they are the bomb!

Basically, I like a lot of different foods, so I am open to ideas.

[RANT] New oil contract $4.59/9

The new oil contract arrived. It is for $4.59/9! That is quite a jump from the $2.52/9 I was paying.

Has anyone else got a price for a new oil contract yet?

[House&Home] Got some sudden RV questions

I was thinking of adding an addition to my home, but while surfing about came up with a possible alternative. It is an over-sized RV. The RV would provide more space at lower cost than an addition. It could also function as a guest house (even though it is an RV it is over-sized and isn't the type that runs around on the roads a lot).

In Danbury, the town is currently on a kick of fining vehicles parked on the grass. In an attempt to cut down on illegal immigrants living 30 to a house. I do not know, if an RV can be parked on grass. Does anyone know if there is a state ordinance about parking RV's on grass or in yards?

Currently it is semi-permanently parked only a few feet from a property line in Ridgefield. However they may have different ordinances than Danbury.

To move the RV requires an over-sized permit, however I'm told it was moved by a large pickup truck. Does anyone know who I could contact to move an over-sized load about 5 miles, and get a large RV set and leveled?

I have at least one semi-picky neighbor, and want to make certain I'm within our town and state law. The RV has a title as a Connecticut vehicle and plates to go with it.

Any input would be appreciated. It is 40' long X 12' wide x 13' high. Input is appreciated.

[INFO] Didn't realize i needed two dishes!

Well I finally went with a HD TV and after calling ATT to upgrade my system they say i need two dishes. I always thought i would need only a box upgrade. Does the drilling in the roof harm the roof? I have an old roof and will not go along with them if they want to install two separately. If they install both on the same support .. is that heavy? Wonder how much one of those dishes weights?

[INFO] Google maps car in Danbury

There was a car with a Google Maps sign on the side, which had a strange camera mounted high on top, as I pulled into my local fast food restaurant this afternoon. I think it is used to map streets for Google. For anyone interested and in the greater Danbury area, we are getting our streets mapped.

[INFO] Statue of limitations for personal injury?

I got injured in a parking lot. I had just walked out of a building, and was walking toward my car when some guy was backing out and hit me. I was lucky and not injured to badly. I was knocked to the ground and lost some skin on my knees. Luckily he stopped when i hit the trunk of his car with my hand. But all i could see at the time was the rear wheel coming at me. It took me a good 20 min to get up .. i think the adrenaline screwed me up mostly.

I got rushed to the hospital with sirens going (very embarrassing)I have good insurance and i called them about it and they said don't worry it will be taken care of. I have the police report and he did get warning for improper backing.

A friend reminded me today about what if something comes up later. Should the other guy have to contact his insurance company? I think it's 2 years for statue of limitations in Conn.

Happy Independance Day! (Fireworks Video in High Definition)

I recorded this at the Danbury Fair Mall yesterday.

http://exposureroom.com/members/Basspig.aspx/assets/7947a8c2ec854864a8944428a3f3526c/

Shot it with two, full-raster high def video cameras, one recording at 60fps and the other at 24fps. Mixed the two together to produce this video.
Sound recorded with two large-diaphragm studio condenser mics, driving the DAT-quality inputs on the XDCam.

The online video is only 720p and heavily compressed, but still holds up well for a video online. You can also download "original" Windows Media file, which is somewhat better quality than the recompressed Flash. 199MB download.

[FOOD] Stop n Shop

I've read, and seen on TV news, reports that there is a gas which can be added to meat to make it look better (redder) than it would normally (without the gas). The idea seems to be allowing older meat to look as good as newer meat to encourage purchase.

Today, I bought some really nice looking meat from Stop n Shop in Danbury. It looked very fresh. It was 2 pieces, one piece slightly overlapped another. The overlap told a tale. Where the meat was apparently gassed, it looked nice and red. Where the meat was on top of another piece of meat, it was brownish, not brilliant red.

I cannot be certain, but strongly suspect, that Stop n Shop has started to gas its meat. This is an FYI, if a piece of meat looks too good to be true at Stop n Shop, be careful. I don't know for sure if Stop n Shop is doing this, and I don't know what other chains are doing. However, I wish the practice was banned. It is deceptive to artificially color meat to make it look fresher than it is in my opinion.
