[ps3] HDMI Cable

I got my kids the PS3 for Christmas, I assume it does not come with a HDMI cable.

Does the PS3, take any standard HDMI cable or do I have to pick up a special PS3 HDMI cable...hope that makes sense....

We already have an Xbox and a Wii, and the only available slot I have left on the main TV is HDMI and I assume with the Blu-Ray quality wise, HDMI is my best bet.

Also what type of video input cable is included (I got the 120GB standard version), I assume just standard component cables come with it, and also does it have a VGA output?

BF: PS3s selling out, 360s selling good, wiis not selling

Anyone else having this happen? This was in Atlanta stores.

PS3s were selling out, 360s were selling excellently (but not as good as ps3), and the Wii was just sitting on shelves being ignored.

I have NEVER seen this happen. Every BF I've seen has had a rush on Wiis.

[360] 360 programmable controller?

Hey guys, I've been looking around but can't find anything. I need a controller where I can re-map the xbox controller buttons for different games.

For example. I want to the function of the left trigger to be controlled by the right bumper..

My hands are almost fully paralyzed so it makes i difficult to reach all the buttons. I don't want like that rapid fire mods etc, just something where I can change the button mapping to work for my hands.

Thanks in advance

I'm trying to figure out how to change my name on my account. I did sign up for a 30 trial and got to use that name. But want to switch it over to my regular 1 year account.

Do i sign into that 1 year account and try to change it from there? Didn't seem to let me..

[ps3] messenger that works on ps3

Short and sweet, what IM pages/services would let me log on to my AIM/MSN/etc. from the ps3 browser? Typing from it right now, since I didn't realize how long avast's boot-time scan would take on my main system. :(

**EDIT**

So far, I've tried Meebo, and it doesn't even load anything on the page.

Also tried eBuddy, and that won't even let me try to sign in, as it's saying it's not a supported browser. :(

PS3 or XBox 360?

I am thinking of buying one of them but i dont know which one to get. I am used to the playstation paddles. I know Xbox has Halo which is a plus for that. But I also want to use it as a computor in my bedroom. So which ever one is better at online. Just give me your reasons why you like one of them.

How can MS detect if Xbox 360 has been opened?

I have an xbox that was fixed a while ago for RROD. Today the DVD drive failed in the system. It's not covered by warranty so I figured instead of paying the price for a new console to get it fixed I'd just do it myself.

Anyway, I didn't have any seals that broke while opening the case. Is there an intrusion detection switch or something. There was one sticker on the front but it just cleanly came off the other half.

International compatibility

Hey guys this may be an off-the-wall question, but do consoles have the concept of Regions like movie DVDs do? IOW if I buy a PS3 game in the UK would I have any problem playing that game on my PS3 in the U.S.? (and vice-versa, insert any country)

Actually that brings up another point: the TV standards in the various parts of the world would have to be handled by the console hardware, but is there anything at the software level (the game itself)? For example, the old NTSC vs PAL, or all the newer HD standards - do the games have to be rewritten or is that just handled at the hardware level?

[dsi] Nintendo - built-in memory

Question for you folks.

If photos were stored to a Nintendo DS and were inadvertently deleted.. can they be retrieved?

I know there's software out there for recovering files from cards, but not sure if possible if it's the built-in memory that stored it.

This handheld has no SD card.

[ps3] Which version of PS3 would you buy? Why?

My son is really working us to get a PS3 now that the prices have dropped. With all the versions available now, which is actually the most useful? Will any of them play PS2 games? Our PS2 died, yet we have lots of PS2 games that were purchased over the last few years.

Just trying to make an informed decision before taking the plunge. Last year he bought a PSP with his birthday cash and ended up with the 3000 slim model. Only afterward did I discover PSP modding and that his particular model had that ability removed. Since I really despise many of Sony's business practices anyway, I want to make sure he gets the PS3 that's the best bang for the buck. :)

Thanks!
