So far, So good

I called to hook up service at my new address in the DTC area...they were able to offer me a 1 year contract at $59/month for 416/416...also, they are having a promo this month that provides a rebate for the $250 connect fee. Also, the are having $100 off the equipment fee of $229. So, we'll see if all this pans out...they told me 4-6 weeks.

Re: So far, So good

Well, it looks like something is rotten in Denmark. Turns out they can't get me 416, instead they hooked me up at 208 and basically told me they NEVER said 416 to begin with.
I guess their policy is to call their customer's liars.
Anyway, they told me if they couldn't get me up to 416 they would cut my monthly rate down.
I will post an update later.

Re: So far, So good

Did the company tell you for sure they could get you 416 or did they say that you could get possibly up to 416. Possibly up to are the key words when calling for DSL service. I do sell DSL and I get a lot of customers that take possibly up to as a guaranteed speed.

Re: So far, So good

They said it would be 'At Least' 416 maybe up to 784. But the trick was they said it would be AT LEAST 416.

I am pretty upset. I wish I could get cable.

Re: So far, So good

How far are you from your telco? Just this week I had ViaWest/NorthPoint install their so-called "I-Speed" which sounds like the same service (up to 784, $59/mo), and it's been great so far, but I am just 4 or 5 thousand feet from my Telco.

Re: So far, So good

The bandwidth provider doesn't set the speed you will get. Its all about the distance.. Its not their fault you live too far from the CO. *sigh* Give it some time, technology continues to advance, maybe one day soon there will be higher bandwidth at farther distances. Just be glad you aren't using a modem to connect.
