| Anon | Lack of Follow-Up Background:
Moving to NYC, need bandwidth for my company.
Ordered a 1.1mb SDSL line from them in April of 2000. Was susposed to get Free Equipment, Free Install and a Class-C (256) ip addresses
Reality:
Between Phone Calls and Covad Email changing dates and stating "This superseeds any previously communicated dates" Bell Atlantic keeps showing up when i'm not there.
Company called InterConnect from CA charges my Amex for $299. When I call to complain I eventually get someone who can make a tiny shred of sense from the problem and I discover its from Internet Channel (INCH). Call Inch they say it will be fixed .. nada 65 days later, Oh Amex .. Fraud !!!!
Finally get installed early May, but no one has IP addresses for me. Sent email a week later get a response "your addresses are 10.0.0.x", whoa, doesnt look like valid addresses to me. Turns out they use NAT but will not disclose that even when asked during order process.
6 weeks have gone by. I send email, 7 days later I forward copy of email, get a response. I respond a day or two later, no response, forward a copy again, 7 days later a response.
They have tried every story they can about how they would have to justify to IANA, how it costs them money (yea a whole 1500/year for 256 class c s (thats 65535 addresses) I dont mind paying reasonable markup on services but they want $300/month for what they committed to in the first place. (65,000 times markup)
Tech support is not 24x7
When I did have an outage I got marginal service getting my problem resolved (Tho they claim they monitor Business class routers, they did not know I was down till I called
So, $299 installation, and marginal service.. And i'm a Business Customer .. I cant imagine what residential service is like |
