@216.22.x.x | News server online, when? When are you going to get a replacement usenet service online?

@dslx.net | Re: News server online, when? They've finally replaced their news-server. Seams to be a webusenet/usenetserver service with fairly decent retention.

| Re: News server online, when? News server has been off-line in one way or another for the last 1.5 weeks. Oh well..
Note: Even when it was on-line.. It was erratic at best with several configuration issues..
One of which, is that Agent unable to properly thread the articles. (Suspect missing info in x-over/x-hdr records).

| Usenet News server, no more.. The Usenet News service DSLexpress was using went out of business a couple of weeks ago.
I called DSLexpress yesterday, and learned that they have no replacement service lined up. Thusly, no DSL express supplied Usenet news service until further notice. :-(

| Re: Usenet News server, no more..
It's been a while.. Good news.. DSL express's USENET news server is online and working.
The news server for dslx.net customers is named "news.dslx.net"
Note: I suspect that you may have to set up a new usenet reader instance to avoid local article number conflicts.

| fiber on my line? i Just recently ordered DSL from DSLexpress. They activated it and everything. But they also said that i have fiber on the line and that i don't need a DSL modem. so the day of the activation comes and i run my cat6 from my patch panel all the way to the out side of the house where the NID (Network Interface Device) is. Open the NID and don't find any fiber or anything that looks like an RJ45 jack. i was told that is all i have to do. Plug my cat5 into the NID and plug the other end into my router. any ideas? | |

| Dslx dumping PVC's for aDSL connections.. After 3 years, I'm leaving dslx.net
BellSucks(south) is dumping PVC's (bridged 1384) for ALL of it's aDSL circuits(including resellers). Substituting bridged circuits with PPPoE session based crap.
BS .. PPPoE sucks for Servers.. any error and it breaks the fragile virtual pipe..(and there are a lot of errors in BS equip).
It takes action from the client side to re-initiate a new PPPoE connection. Meanwhile your outside traffic/web requests/email/etc.. are being dropped.. no thanks.
Lucky for me.. I'm still directly connected to a CO serviced by a CLEC. (Covad).. So I'm switching to Speakeasy.net .
Thus, I bid a fond farewell to dslx.net. A note worthy ISP who is getting screwed over by BS.
