| Anon | Best ever!
Here in the Wichita Falls area I priced my DSL options carefully, and it became very clear that Cyberstation's package was simply the best. I use their free RealAudio servers for my homepage, and the 5 e-mail addresses blow away all of the other DSL ISPs here in town. Service has been second to none, and the help desk is manned by people that are kind and intellegent and that answer calls until 11:00PM. Thanks, Cyberstation!
| | Anon | Cyberstation is not good
I dont know why you like cyberstation. I got thier DSL the day it came out and its SO slow. I *paid* for 1.5MBPS down and 384k up and i dont get near this. I average 20k/sec on downloads from the CST ftp. WTF is up with this? I ping like crap while playing online games. I had ISDN before cyberstation DSL and im going back with ISDN because its faster. cyberstation has crappy tech support they couldnt help me with a problem, then i figured it out 10minutes later. Im sorry i cannot recoment cyberstation as an isp
| | Anon | Lag? Not on my End...
I havent lagged any since I got this thing going. Maybe im just at a good distance but I have been pretty happy with my speed in video conf. and in online games. I will agree with you that IPC tech support does suck, but im not seeing where you come up with the problem with the speed. I average around 40-200 kbs downloads depending on the location of the server im connecting to.
| | Anon | DSL
I was second or third to get DSL thru CS and have been happy with service and support. I think they got a bad rap at first when IP communications (their DSL provider and the same provider for most of the rest of the city) couldn't get their act together. I for one like the fact that I pay 45.00 a month and other ISP's here in town charge 20 bucks more a month. It cracks me up when people bitch and moan and yet no place can be perfect (ever gotten a wrong order at a drive thru?) The real test is when you can call and get a real live human, or even bring your machine by up until 11pm and get help. Thanks cyberstation and all the folks who work there for all the help you have given this computer novice.

| Re: DSL
I just got Cyberstation in Dallas, Texas and I have been very impressed with their hard work on making sure I got connected and with the speed of the line. There were some minor problems with my installation and my line was delayed about a week past the first install date. However Cyberstation was very helpful with IP Communications and pushed the account through to get me going. Ever since I have been up and going and my line is very fast! Sometimes it seems faster than the T1 we have at work! I don't play online games and the main thing I was looking for was the always on service anyway, but I am happy with the speed I am seeing - I could never go back to dialup. Another thing I was looking for was a company that would give me a static IP number so I could access files at home from work. Cyberstation helped me set this up and it is working great. Overall I am very happy.

| Hassle since word go. But they fixed everything
I don't have a record of exact dates, but I am working on two months since I ordered the service from Cyberstation. The first clue into how well together this organization is came when i faxed back the contract, and then never heard another word from them. A week later I called back and they claimed not to have to received it, nor had they taken the time to call me and let me know they hadn't. They faxed me another contract, which I requested a verification on and received. They called me back to get payment info and gave me a ball park of thirty days (around Sep, 14 2000)before the lines would be tested out. After being told they would contact me when the inside wiring team was coming, I told them that they would have to call another number because the DSL line I used strictly for internet and there was no phone on it. When they called to let me know they were coming, that information had never made it to them. No telling who is at fault with that one, but I ended up suffering their mistakes. I found this out by calling on the 15th to find out why, again they failed to contact me, even though i had gone ahead and hooked up a phone to the internet line. On this call, instead of calling IP communications and trying to get a little urgency on this, they asked me to do it. I couldn't get through to the inside wiring department but a helpful guy from IP told me he would have the message passed on to them. When, predictably, this didn't happen, I called back the next day and was able to talk to inside wiring and scheduled an appointment for Monday the 25th. For the first time in this ordeal, something occurred almost as promised. The ip guys showed up and got the lines set up for internet, and I would add they were very pleasant and helpful. The problem was they didn't have a modem. IP called CS at around 2pm on the 25th and they were told CS would overnight a modem to me that day. Tuesday, I called CS around five when i didn't receive the modem and was told that they had not only sent it 2nd day, they hadn't gotten it out on Monday. Only upon my request to know when I would receive my modem, and the suggestion to go check it out was I told I would get it by Thursday. Well today is Wednesday, and I happened to check my bank and found that they saw fit to deduct the money for the service, without even checking on whether or not I was actually active.
Through this whole ordeal, I never received one apology nor a hint of embarrassment for these inconveniences.
Needless to say, if I do not receive the modem tommorrow, I will be canceling the order and going with another provider. I really hope the incompetence to date is not an indication of the service I am going to receive this next year, assuming they can actually deliver on their promise to get my modem to me tommorrow.

I feel bad for not updating this post earlier, as Cyberstation has done everything in its power to rectify the situation I was in. This is actually a follow up to a number of problems I had getting my DSL installed. The last post I was frustrated with the install time. As it turned out, most of the problem was due to IPC and Federal Express. After seeing my post on this site, I received a call from the Chris at CST and he bent over backwards to remedy the problems I was having. I have been up and running for a couple of months now with unwavering connectivity. Additionally, any questions I have had, tech support and billing have resolved them quickly and efficiently. For a nice change, first impressions aren't always the correct ones. Good to find a company that cares about their product and their customer.

| | Anon | These Guys ROCK!!! I ordered DSL from Cyberstation two weeks ago. The modem arrived a week later, and the install came one week to the day after that. The gentleman from IP communications was one of the nicest you can expect. If he does not mind, his name is Michael. Everyone was very cooperative on both sides. I was a little skeptical about leaving DirecPC, but it was all worth it. The speeds are great, and I have yet to expierience any down time. For the price, this is the DSL provider of choice!

DO NOT use cyberstation DSL. Its slow, a 56k is just as good, if not better than thier DSL. I download at about 13k/sec when i should be getting well over 150k/sec. I ping horrible while playing games online. Thier DSL constantly goes down too. It was down over 2 weeks one time. Once again dont use these people.

| Fe Fi Fo Fum why cant I out ping a 56k'er
How can u say this is good? I ping the same as people with 56k! They always say they are looking into the problems but never fix them! Im sick of the excusses. They need to fix it instead of blaming other people for the problems. Plus I have called them many times and the secretary takes a message and says they will call me back. They have called me back 0 times. The only impressive thing they have done is help me get the dsl to work after they gave me the wrong cd to install the dsl. They need to get there act together and solve some problems.
ps: The only one there that helps is Andy, the others have no clue.

| Re: SLOW DSL
Mr. Sellman,
First or all I would like to make a few things clear, foul language and immature comments are not welcome here. Everyone at Cyberstation understands that you are not satisfied with your service, even though by your own admittance we have worked tirelessly on your account, you seem to find it necessary to constantly rant about how we have "mistreated" you. We unsuccessfully poured extreme time and effort into getting you satisfied. After trying everything under the sun we then released your contract so you would not be confined to unsatisfactory service. We DID NOT have to do this, but we decided it would be the least we could do in return for your dissatisfaction.
You make it sound like our entire service is a joke, but with the exception of one other customer (that mix-up was not from our end, and for what happened I would say it was recovered well) you and Mr. Walker (aka: Scott Hall) have been the only 2 individuals to show dissatisfaction with our service (Mr. Walker has 2 tickets with IPC open trying to patch things up for him). I ask you, Jerrod, what more do you want us to do? You anonymously post reports with foul language and indecent comments thinking no one knows who you are, but considering you are the only customer on the 63 network speaks for itself.
I'm trying not to be rude or derogatory here, but if you step back and look at what we have done then its really hard to find a reason as to why you are still flaming our reviews.
Out of the 3 dissatisfied customers mentioned above:
1) We released your contract after exhausting everything we could do to try to appease you.
2) "budfive"'s case was a result of a CPE being mailed to the wrong address (was resolved any complications).
3) Mr. Walker's case has 2 trouble tickets open with IPC trying to resolve his issues.
3 out of 200; not perfect but certainly not the complete anarchy you have made it out to be. I apologize if I have offended you in any way, and even though I represent only myself and not the official views of Cyberstation Inc. I just wanted to take a moment to respond to the accusations you have made against a corporation I am proud to represent.
Respectfully, Andy Reedy Cyberstation Inc.

| Just speaking the truth here
This was taken by my friend on Cyberstation DSL. He ran the 2wire.com bandwidth meter 3 times and this was the highest reading he got. He is on Cyberstation 1.5Mbps / 128k CST DSL. As you can see hes not getting much better than 56k performance. I ran the same test with my DSL (from webfire) and I got a 675.3k reading, over 10times better than my friend on cyberstation DSL. My webfire DSL is 768k / 384k. While playing online games my friend pings 300 + to servers in dallas (which is a 2 hour drive from here) and i ping in the 20s. Webfire DSL is the only way to go if you want to get your money's worth. Here is the pic of my friends speed test.

| Re: Just speaking the truth here
I believe it should be noted that the 2wire bandwidth tester isn't exactly the best out there. While it suffers from the usual things like internet congestion and the like, i also noticed that it can be "manipulated" to the will of the web surfer:
The link to the test results is 2wire.com/bandwidth/bmresult.asp?kbps=BANDWIDTH where the ASP script fills in the BANDWIDTH area with the value after testing. well, if one were to enter something like, oh, say 64.5 Kbps and claim that it was the speed that they got then it would display that in the screen. For instance, take a look at my "speed test:"

WOW! it appears that i have the fastest computer ever!
Who's to say that someone couldn't have fudged the previous posts like i did this one...
Also, i have Cyberstation and my speeds have been great since April when i first got it. this guy could just have a poorly-configured computer or some other interference. -- "Create something that is idiot-proof and they will build a better idiot." -- "Create something that is idiot-proof and they will build a better idiot." | drumstikks : We did not manipulate the 2wire test in ANY way. My friend and I both went there and I got a reading of 670something kbytes / sec so I KNOW it was functioning properly when my friend tested it 10seconds after I did. You are paying for 1.5mbps / 384k while mine is only 768 / 384 but i can guarantee you I will download faster, upload faster and ping better in online games (I upload at 70+ kbytes / sec while im only paying for 384k, im quiet happy about that)

| Going good so far
well got DSL installed today, signed up with Cyberstation little over 3 weeks ago modem arrived and so forth and install happened today.
Everything okay so far. About the only tihng I can suggest is that with the modem we get an initial config sheet listing IP address and so forth.
Hopefully once the new bandwith comes in it will help the speed on my connection but for not definately not complaining, averaging 400K download which is still a lot faster then my 56k dialup.

Happy as two peas in a pod right now, DSL service has been great from CST. At times bandwith does get constricted but that is during peak times and it is still faster then dialup.
Stable and reliable, I definately recommend getting the 5861 router, it costs more money but it is definately worth it.

| Cyberstation, To be or Not to Be Ok, well I've now had Cyberstation DSL for oh, id say 3-4 months, and have had a few run-ins with them. First off, Their new T1, yea right, thats what they've been saying since, oh, let me see, NOVEMBER. So No dice on that. Secondly Lets talk about The Reliability of the DSL, well today is April 15, so on April 14th at 7:30 PM My dsl went down AGAIN and it did not come back up till around 3am April 15th...For something that is supposed to be connected 24/7 that sure dont seem like 24/7 to me. Ok, now once in a while is ok, and i wouldnt mind it going down every few months, but theres a catch! This is the 6th time my dsl has gone down for a minimum time of 1hr in the past 4 days! Ok, 6 times down in 4 days, NICE Connection! Two thumbs up on that one Chris! (Btw Andy And Matt are the only two techs you have that are any good)Ok, Next Matter of Business besides the Absolutely HORRIBLE reliability. The Speed! Ok, im paying for an advertised 1.5mb Download DSL! Cool, sounds good dont it? huh uh, not gonna happen. I D/L on avg around 25k a sec. Yes, that is better then my 56k, but I do know of many times that i have Gotten D/L as low as 5k a sec. My 56K usually got around 6k a second (and when i told one of your techs that chris, he bluntly called me a liar and said 56k can only got at a max of 4k ...so you didnt get that much), well i believe i know how much i have downloaded at, but whatever, yall know everything right? Anyways, I just did a DSL Speed check from both places right here on DSL Reports, and i was right at 310 up 100 down, nice D/L for an advertised 1.5mb down and a 100 UP??? WTF is that??? Thats like not much better then 56k's up...my lord! SO i guess my question is this: When are you guys gonna get your act together and do something about this crap? The speeds are horrible, the Reliabily is so bad its sickening. The Tech Support is decent if u can get Matt or Andy. Heres the Bottom Line of the Whole Thing. If you can pay the huge amount for Web Fire DSL GET IT, its about 3000 Times better then Cyberstation (i know from personal exp), yet it costs 600 dollars to get (which will hopefully change soon and i can switch), but until then im stuck here with CS, Which is better then 56k Yes, when it is up. I wont say everything bad with no good. Yes Majority of the time it is up, and it is better then 56k, but still not anywhere close to what DSL speeds should be. Well, thats all i have to say about that matter, Now its your Turn Chris...What do you have to say? | |

| preach it brother rhino I agree with the rhino. I had cyberstation dsl for about 8months and it was horrid. It would go down like he says and you couldnt browse the web or do anything until it got back up. My dsl with cyberstation went down for 2 and a half weeks, yes i said TWO.
I averaged 5-15k/sec downloads when i should have been getting 130-150k. Thier tech support is horrid like the rhino says, you might as well get a bat and start beating on your modem to fix it; thats about as good as cyberstation tech support is.
For online gaming i constantly pinged over 200ms to servers in dallas,tx (two hours from my house) and constant packetloss.
While on 1.5Mbps / 384k Cyberstation dsl i would ping on average 45ms to my GATEWAY. I should have been pinging 10ms on my own gateway. Now with 768k / 384k webfire dsl I ping around 20ms to cyberstations gateway. That is LOWER than cyberstation users get to thier own gateway.
All in all I recomend webfire, southwestern bell, or quik dsl over cyberstation. Infact I recomend 14.4k AOL dialup over cyberstation dsl.

| Our SDSL is smokin fast!! I highly recommend Cyberstation for business users like myself. We have a small graphics design firm with 12 computers in our office. We send and recieve a lot of large files, and host our own web and mail server. I ordered the SDSL after talking to Cyberstation's owner, Chris Salmon, who was very knowledgeable and helpful, and answered all of our questions without sending us to a different department or having to "get back to you on that" the way the SWBell people did. We got the 1 megabit SDSL service for only $260.00 p[er month, which was also less expensive than most of the people we looked at. It is SMOKIN' fast !!! We had ISDN before and this is like a whole different world. The line was installed about 4 weeks after we ordered it, we got the premium install and the IP Communications technicians that came to our site were very fast and professional. We were up and going that same day and have not had a lick of trouble since then. We had some questions about setting up our router to do mail and web service and James, a cst technician, walked me right through it without any problems. I also like the way Cyberstation actually answers the phone when you call, instead of putting you on hold. When we have left voice mail with them, they always call back, which personally I prefer over waiting on hold. Overall I have to give Cyberstation "two thumbs up" on service, speed, and support.

| GREAT SERVICE I found Cyberstation (or CST for short) here on DSL Reports. We have several properties around Texas that we manage, and needed a provider for 23 locations. Overall the experience has been very good, but not perfect. Out of the 23 orders placed several were out of range for DSL, on these Cyberstation was able to provide an ISDN solution (though it is more expensive and we have to pay a separate charge for the ISDN line). On some others the availability check showed we were OK for ADSL Share but later we found out we had to change to order to ADSL Link, SDSL, or IDSL to complete the order, which was a bit frustrating and delayed the start of service. However other ISP's we have dealt with have had the same sort of problems, and in fact we have been very happy with the care and responsiveness of CST personnel - they truly go the extra mile for you. We have had a few problems with IP Communications, such as poor quality wiring jobs or scheduling delays. However that is balanced by the willingness of Cyberstation staff to get involved in solving on-site LAN problems which, in our experience, is unusual - most providers refused to touch our LAN's. We don't have a big IT department so this was a big help to us - it wasn't free but it was reasonable as opposed to Bell who would want outrageous money to work on our internal problems. Overall from start to finish our 23 orders were all up and going in a little over 2 months. This is better than some ISP's we have worked with in other areas, but slower than we would like. Speeds are good, and the connections are solid. One of the things I really like about CST is every staff member is technically oriented and overall they seem to know the technology inside and out, even including the technology in our on-site LAN's. The owner and officers of the company seem willing to personally get involved and make sure that every problem is resolved, and we like that. They respond quickly to our requests for information and help, however they seem to respond more quickly to email than to any other methods, if you use these guys get comfortable mailing help@cst.net - they always got back to us quickly using that method. We needed static IP numbers and routable subnets, and CST provided these with very little extra charge, that was another big help. Overall, very good service. I think this is one of the companies that is going to make it, if the motivation and hard work of their owner and staff is any indication. I would recommend them and we WILL use them again.

| Cyberstation News? Any news on Cyberstation, Inc.? We use them for a corporate VPN and they have recently been selling us accounts through Megapath. Does anyone else have experience with the CST/Megapath combination? Overall we are very satisfied, with just one issue with a Cisco PIX being the only problem we have seen from them. Anyone got any news regarding this company ? | |
