| | Anon | Re: What's the difference? I don't know about that. But they gave me the exact deal as advertised - 49.95. Didn't say anything about Res. or Biz. but when I check the availablitly on the web, only Biz is in my area. So I assume that's what I got then. | |

| Re: What's the difference? That means that when you did your prequal from their site and it stated that only biz was available in your area, you just went ahead with the registration. When I got to the part that indicated that only biz was available to me, I remembered from their ISP listing here at dlsreports that biz cost $30 more. I didn't continue with the registration. I signed up with Speakeasy instead. So what that amounts to is that they lost a potential customer because the prequal at their website doesn't match what they've posted here at dslreports. It would seem that their prequal defaults to indicate "business only" if you can only receive IDSL. If I were the webmaster, I'd change this glitch in the prequal to avoid the obvious confusion it presents. Moreover, those of us who frequent and pay attention to dslreports may not know otherwise. | |
|
| | | | Anon | Re: What's the difference? It looks like they changed the glitch as when I initially did a prequal, it only pulled up business IDSL, but now it pulls up both Res and Biz. | |

| Anon | SoFarSoGood It took Bazillion and Covad only 3 days to accomplish something that MegaPath and NP have yet to accomplish in 3 months. We are not installed yet, but NP hasn't even gotten Ameritech to schedule a date. I have never spoken to anyone from NP about a problem they were having - Covad identified the problem and called me 3 times in one day to make sure it was cleared up. So I can't recommend Bazillion yet - but Covad is at least moving things forward. | |

| Anon | Bazillion - some good, some bad The good: (1) Very quick install, good coordination between US-Worst, Covad, and Bazillion. Covad technician was very, very nice.
(2) Good price for IDSL ($50/month), plus dial-up option and 400 minutes of long distance each month. Price includes unlimited traffic - other ISPs want to charge $10/per gigabyte of transfer.
(3) Good, consistant thru-put. Speed usually is between 130-137 kB/sec, out of a max of 144.
The bad: (1) Tech center botched conversion from DHCP to static IP, connection down for 1 day.
(2) Tech center accidentally reassigned my PVC (private virtual ckt) to someone else, connection went down for a day.
(3) Front line customer support people are not very knowledgeable and sometimes a little short.
(4) Long hold times when calling for support.
(5) Bazillion accidentally signed me up for 3 DSL line installs instead of one. Took a couple of days to clear up.

| | Everything is smooth!
I signed up for IDSL (144K) Residential service in Kent, WA on 7/20, on a month-to-month basis for $49 a month with 400 min of LD a month. I so far have recieved my acceptance e-mail from Covad and hope for a good install. The free 56K dialup while your waiting for installation is TERRIFIC, I have used over 50 different ISPs in my 6 years on the net and they have the BEST connection speed I have EVER acheived (52,000 bps with perfect transfer speeds). I will follow-up with my post as soon as I hear something from Bazillion or Covad. L8Rs & Good luck!
|
| | Anon | Re: Everything is smooth!
Readers should note that the free dialup is not available in many areas, but "coming soon".
|
| | | When I checked my e-mail the other day I couldn't believe my eyes, Covad and Bazillion actually got a FOC date from USWest/Qwest in TWO business days!!! Iam scheduled for July 31, I will follow up. | |
|
| | | | Re: Everything is smooth! Wow, mind boggling! Qwest showed up 2 DAYS before scheduled! Now, i'm waiting to get my Covad installation appointment. | |
|
| | | | | Re: Everything is smooth! You're lucky! I'm in BA territory Signed up 7-20, got a FOC for 8-23. Ah well... | |
|
| | | | | | Re: Everything is smooth!
Geez, I really feel for you. I don't recall ever hearing anything good about Bell Atlantic, and have heard tremendous horror stories about their DSL.
|
| | | | | | | Re: Everything is smooth! Yeah, BA sucks. How did it go for you? Did Covad come out yet? Another thing that sucks is Bazillion doesn't offer dialup in my area. | |
|
| Anon | Hidden Facts
One thing they forget to tell you about is that they will not do biz with you unless you have a CC.
|
| | | Re: Hidden Facts
I don't see that as a bad thing from an ISP, most ISPs today require a credit card for billing. If you can't get a credit card because of bad credit go to your bank and get a Visa or Mastercard Check Card, it works the same and it pulls everything out of your checking account!
|
| | | | Re: Hidden Facts
I just got my Covad installation appointment today, and it is August 9th. I will follow up again!!
|
| | | | | Re: Hidden Facts Well, I called Covad and had my appointment changed for Auguest 4th from 3-7 PM. | |
|
| | | | | | Re: Hidden Facts
Covad came out at 2:15, even before the scheduled time!! Not ONE problem getting installed, getting speeds of 138 KBps out of 144, and 160MS Average pings with lows of 98MS. I'm VERY satisfied and can't speak highly enough of Bazillion!!!
|
| | | | You mean a 128k upload don't you?
The upload limit is set when the modem locks into the network...it can't be changed.
|
| Anon | Which DSL modem?
Which modem is Bazillion supplying with their iDSL service?
|
| | | Re: Which DSL modem?
Well, Bazillion said I would be supplied with a FlowPoint 144 Router, and still say that's what I have... However, since FlowPoint was bought by Efficient Networks the Covad technition gave me an Efficient SpeedStream 5871 which is the old FP144 in a new Efficient black box! It has a built-in 4-Port Ethernet Hub and internet firewall.

| Anon | BellSount and Bazillion?
Anyone have any experience with Bellsouth and Bazillion? How's the response to installation time?
|
| | | Re: BellSount and Bazillion? I placed an order on Bazillion's website on 9/14. BellSouth came out on 9/21. Covad cameout on 9/23. So it was a little over a week from start to finish.

| Anon | Adventure Begins
Just starting my DSL adventure with Bazillion. The customer service guy (Jeremy) on my first call was helpful (aren't they always?). I then signed up on their web page (basic business service, $79/mo, 144/144kbs). Updates will be posted (watch out, Bazillion employees!) All good news and bad news will be reported. »joyofsports.org

| Anon | Adventure Update (post #2)
About 2 hours after I completed my sign up request on their web site for business DSL, a Bazillion rep called back. Not bad. He was helpful and informative. He said that because of the Verizon strike, it may be longer than usual for getting my DSL complete. No surprise there; this was expected. Maybe Verizon can get James Earl Jones to help with some of the backlog (smile). More updates to follow...
|
| | | Re: Adventure Update (post #2)
Prepare for a looooooooooong wait. BA sucks and this strike isn't helping any. Signed up 7/20, got a FOC for 8/23 -- that's bad enough in itself. Now thanks to the strike, I got a notice that DSL installs are in never-never land and who knows when I'll get it installed (they don't).
Right now it is a race between Verizon (ERR!) and Cox to get me fast access.

| | Bazillion ISDL In Chicago Area
I ordered the 144K IDSL line for my home office @ 49.95/month with 400 minutes of free long distance. I was promised a visit from Ameritech within two weeks. Almost exactly two weeks later, Ameritech showed up and installed the line. Bazillion then promised that a Covad tech would be out the following Friday by noon. Covad showed up an hour late after calling to let me know that they were running behind schedule. The installation tech took a little over an hour to get things running but said all was fine. I took ownership of the Flowpoint 144 and immediately called Bazillion customer service to get help configuring my PC. In less than 10 minutes, I was online at 138K. For nearly two weeks now my line has been up without a single service interruption. Consistently fast and the DHCP assures that I can get a new IP address randomly assigned to me by just powering down the Flowpoint. I have been very happy with the service. Bazillion called me a few days ago to make sure I was satisfied. I said that I am very happy! I hope everyone is even half as lucky as I got. Very smooth.

| Anon | Just ordered
I just ordered their IDSL service yesterday (I'm 20,000 ft from the CO). So far I got an email today with an update from COVAD saying that they will be in touch by email soon to let me know when Bell South will be out to do a loop qual test. So far so good...
|
| | way to go bazillion!
i ordered IDSL thru Bazillion.com on 8-12-2000 and voila on 8-14-2000 my order was accepted by covad. and then by 8-30-2000 the pacbell guy installed the outside line to make idsl possible for my house. a week later i got a email from covad confirm Covad DSL Service Date: 9/7/2000 between 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. they will stop by and install inside wire and setup my PC. i had physical therapy on my ACL injury on that day. by suprise the covad guy showed up at my house when i left for 1hr therapy session at 11:30am. when i got back home he just finished the wiring and setup flowpoint 114-16 router. so i test out my laptop first by remove all network setting and check for dynamic ip...so i was on and happily ever after the speed come out not that bad for what i can get out of IDSL. it range from 120 to 140kbs. down stream seem to be slower than upstream but who would care. it faster than so co 56k - always come down to 28.8 or less. beside all of these idsl stuffs i got 400 free call to usa and canada from bazillion. what's a deal and way to go bazillion. they also have refer a friend rebate so use my userid as qpham76 to get your $50 sign up rebate when you mention my name so i can get $50 too.

len @reverse.mobilenetics | Bazillion's Unservice
I've had Bazillion's service for the past month but it has been down for almost 2 wks of that time. Technical support is a joke and unreliable--they don;'t respond to e-mails, or call back. In order to get any service prepare to wait on hold for a long time. When I requested a manager or level 2 support there was NEVER any available. I cancelled today--Bazillion was a total waste of time.
|
| | Go... no go... wanna try again?
Signed on about a month ago. No service yet. A US Worst (West) rep appeared about a week after my initial call and then... NOTHING.
I called and asked Bazillion what was up and they said I had some serious technical issues ("load coils" to remove). They also said the fix was up to US Worst. It usually takes a couple of months and dances between Covad and US Worst (now QWorst) to get the service installed. I was welcome to re-submit my order or cancel it when Covad finally let me know about the service delay.
Bazillion was very up front about the issue and asked me if I wanted to keep my dial-up service (@ $14.95/month) while I waited. I said sure- then turned around and called AT&T. I'll be installed in two days with free install and service until 2001. Hmmm... tough decision- NOT!
|
| | GREAT SERVICE!
Bazillion customer service was amazing! The service rep I spoke with was very friendly and helpful. It took 3 weeks for my hook-up when I was told it would take 4-6 weeks. Yip, very impressive!! The connection has been very dependable in 1.5 weeks i've had DSL. I recommend giving Bazillion a try if you are unsure about all the different providers! Oh yeah, the free long distance minutes they are currently giving away with their serive is a huge plus!

| | Looking for feedback on Chicago Bazillion users
I am looking to hear from users in the Chicagoland area who have signed up using Bazillion's service. What troubles, if any, did you have with installation, customer service or tech service calls etc. From my browsing around the different providers in my area, Bazillion seems to be the best deal, but I just want to make sure the low price doesn't equal a low level of service. Please post here or email me at aceord@aol.com

| | Anon | Re: Looking for feedback on Chicago Bazillion users
I have bazillion service for approximately 4 months. the service is good when it works. unfortunately , the service is down on daily basis as much as 30% of the time. Technical service is poor. I will try to switch somewhere else.
|
| | Anon | I would like to update my position on Bazillion. I have been using the service now for 4 months. I was plagued by frequent interruptions in service. I was finally able to connect to technical support who contacted covad and fixed the problem over the phone. I am quite happy with the service now. Recommended | |
|
| | Anon | I've ordered Bazillion dsl service exactly 8 weeks ago, and still no connection. I first ordered ADSL, but 3 weeks later they got a notification from ameritech that i was too far from the CO. So they canceled my order, without notifiying me -- no email, no calls. Suspicious, i called on the 4th week to learned that my order was canceled without me saying so. I reordered IDSL, and the rep. i talked to said that it would take about 4-6 weeks. Basically, right back to where I started. 2 weeks went by without a single noticed from either bazillion or covad. I called them and finally got a hold of someone after the umpteen tried. For some unknown reason, my order was canceled! Someone inside bazillion apparently sent an email to covad saying that the customer (me) had called and wish to cancel the order. After I got the mess resolved, covad and bazillion contacted me last week saying that a covad technician will be by to install the modem. I took a day off at work to wait for them (they block the hours from 12-5pm). The technician came and found out that there was a problem with the Ameritech line, basically, a "LOOP NO CONTINUITY" problem. I was inform that i would have to wait for ameritech to come out again, then covad would have to come out and do the install.
On top of all this, the customer support over the phone was very unprofessional. As I expressed my frustration, the tech guy said that "I don't know what to do at this point if your phone company isn't doing their job" and that "canceling the order is the only thing i could do". And for some reason bazillion is always having this "interrupted inconvenience" with their customer support line.
It's a nightmare, and at this point, that 400 minutes of LD doesn't even matter to me anymore. I highly suggest that you spend the money on a better service.
|
| Anon | Guarantees only128k regardless of advertised speed
Technical support answers the calls promptly, but you are unlikely to get any help with any problem, they simply are not trained yet. They are however coureous over the phone. As for the actual service, it is as slow as a snail. When I called thay said that they only guarantee 128k. I do not understand why do you advertise for 800k when you deliver only 128k to your customers. If this is not fraud, I do not knwo what fraud is. On the positive side they give free long distance service. If this what you are looking for, go with them, If you want DSL which you expect to be faster than a 56k modem, look elsewhere.
|
| | | Re: Guarantees only128k regardless of advertised speed Have you tweaked yet? Maybe your computer is still set up for 56K. Also update your Java. | |
|
| Anon | Trouble free
My Bazillion ADSL was installed yesterday. Once the Verizon strike was over things happened pretty quickly. Covad installed the line, checked to make sure I was on line. However they don't support Macs so I called Bazillion for help. Got a very knowledgable person who walked me through the configuration. I now have PC and Mac on the net through a hub. Everything works. I'm a happy camper.

| No service, but no outage (knock on wood!) Rockin! no tech support, but it's all good when IDSL works. It hasn't failed yet. I love having the four-port hub, my wife doesn't B!+ch about long hours of Diablo II, and I'm getting about 120kbps(144 advertised, but im 5 miles from the telco) All I need is for tech support to call me back on a email account setup and message size questions (We get three accounts, I only set up one... oh well it beats the heck out of my normal 26.4K

| Anon | DSL? Yay nay
Signed up 2 months ago, us west and covad have showed up on and off since then, Not much communication going on, I had to get out my cattle prod and attack the guy who last came out here to get any information at all. Im hearing the same "load coils" speach. Im 7000 feet from the co, and im told Im too far for IDSL (!) by a tech who came out and looked at my box, but they still continue sending people. Still waiting. waiting... waiting... impatiently...
