Internet and digital phoneIs it true you can't buy your own cable modem if you have both Bresnan internet and digital phone
| | |
Re: Internet and digital phoneim pretty sure you just have to have a comparable one and have it programed correctly
| | | | |
I called Bresnan and the person told me I could not use my own modem even if it was the same model of the modem that Bresnan used. He said it had something to do with the digital phone service. I was wondering if anyone else had both services and used their own modem.

I think they need to fix their network to accommodate for the current bandwidth first.
They finally fixed my area about a month ago...probably because it is their largest market, but many more places see less than stellar speeds at night.

Until docsis 3.0 is adapted by Bresnan, we won't be seeing much in terms of more "speed". I would prefer that they deal with the latency issues first. If most people read how DOCSIS 3.0 works, they'd understand it's MUCH better than 1.1 or 2.0. Plus, DOCSIS 3.0 isn't a "drop in" replacement. They have to make sure the new gear is going to cooperate with the existing fiber/copper infrastructure. They also have to replace ALL of the CM/MTAs in place. Not an easy task. Also, it's most of the other people (light users, elderly, etc) that keep the old stuff purring along, so they have to go to their house and upgrade their cable modem (if they let them). Now, if there was a month that Bresnan said "Trade in all DOCSIS 1.1 and 2.0 modems and we'll replace it with a DOCSIS 3.0 one", probably half of the people would get the message and the other half would require a truck roll.

It's on the way, but major markets will get it first. Bresnan just completed a 10Gb ring that runs from Seattle through Billings, Casper, Cheyenne, and Grand Junction, and terminates in Denver. It will allow for better access to off-net (off of bresnan's network) websites and services. Speeds should begin to increase as these markets will now have access to better 1Gb+ internet connections through Seattle and Denver. I've heard rumors that D3 may be implemented by the end of 2010 in some of these areas, but I don't know if that's true.

I LOL at that thought, but compared to the other cities in this region, it is a major market!

Re: Rumor or FactI still cant get over the fact that the population of Wyoming is only about 300,000 It may be one of the markets that will get D3 rolled out first. I'm not sure what speeds Bresnan is planning on launching, but I wouldn't be surprised if they came out with 30mb or (oh please oh please oh please) even 50Mb packages.

They spent a lot of time/money upgrading their major markets to Cisco 10K and Arris C4 CMTS units that are D3 capable, so I know for a fact that it's coming soon /Cheyenne just received the C4 upgrade and another 1Gb of Internet capacity in the last month or so, and I saw a HUGE increase in speed.

Re: Rumor or FactYea, I finally saw my pings drop from 500ms+ to less than 100. It only took them 6 months.
I was literally 2 weeks away from canceling.
btw, Wyoming has a bit of 500,000 people now. I'm not a huge fan of the state, but it beats commuting from Fort Collins every day. One thing I do like it is cost me $15/year to register my car with the state. Can't beat $1.20/month to drive my car legally!

I take it the 10Gb/s ring didn't help the link from Butte to Billings or is there some other issues going on right now?

omega: what part of town do you live in? Is it old and crappy cable? I live in the Sun Valley area. Local ping times to cheyenne servers are about 25ms. I do ping tests to Los Angeles and New York, and they average in the 45-50ms range. It's obviously got to be a cabling issue with your neighborhood, to your house, or the modem. If it was at the head end, it would affect all of us. Didn't see where you mentioned speeds. If it was over subscription, that would normally suffer too. But I guess that could be a possibility on your local node. But it's good that your latency has improved. I don't work for Bresnan, but I did use to work for Qwest and installed and designed more DSL than I can count. So many times the problem is the last mile. Neighborhood wiring, house wiring, modem, network, etc... Sounds like at least the quality is moving in the right direction. mike...

Bresnan Customer Service TOP NOTCHJust had to comment. You all know that I've had nothing but good service with bresnan since I've had them. I recognize that some out there aren't happy with their local connections, but mine has always been good. 15mb down (Closer to 15.75) and 1 mb up. Worst times, when all the kids get home from school, it's still better than 12mb down and 1mb up. Usually around 25ms to local server tests, and about 45-50ms to east and west coast. Well, for the last 3+ weeks, my service has dropped considerably. Pings were fine, tracert were normal, all was good; except download speeds were about 3-3.5mb. 13-15 different speed tests; downloading files; etc... all were in the 3-3.5mb area. Called Bresnan and spoke with Erik at tier 1 and Zan at tier 2. If I'd been paying for 3-5mb service, I'd say the service was acting perfecting. We did all the normal tests and everything looked good, or at least "Normal" for my setup that I've always had. They escalated the ticket to the local shop who was going to schedule a truck roll out on Monday. They mentioned some issues with Sprint (Backhaul) and they looked at that. Not sure if the local shop/head end worked on the situation friday during the day, (They didn't come to the house); but some time on friday, everything was back to normal. Modem power levels are a bit high, but within specs of cable modems, (Plus they are the same levels I've ALWAYS had); and now the speed is back to normal. I'd just like to say that Erik and Zan at Bresnan were both what customer service is all about. No, nothing is perfect. And sometimes there are snafu's and fubar's. It's technology, and I expect issues from time to time. (If you don't expect it, then you're not realistic). But what matters is how the customer service handles those snafu's. Mayb my issues were automatically fixed when the sprint issue was being addressed. Maybe I got lucky. Maybe a tech was working on something locally and it fixed me at the same time. And maybe customer service really didn't do much. But that isn't important. What is important is that they didn't just blow me off. They called me directly at my house. They emailed me at least 4 times. They stayed up on it. And that is what I want from a company's support staff. I'm not expecting perfect uptime service. That's not real. But the customer service is real. Unfortunately, there are times that bresnan can't fix issues immediately because they inherited some crappy local facilities and cabling. I'm fortunate that this isn't the case for me in my neighborhood. But they do see to be working on all that. Just wanted to say thanks to zan/erik at Bresnan and that if anyone does have a problem with their service, I believe bresnan will do whatever they can to help. later... mike....

Re: Bresnan Customer Service TOP NOTCHHmm, I have been having the 3mbit issue as well. I should probably call.
But I agree, their customer service is pretty good. My DVR decided it no longer wanted to be a DVR last night. I couldn't record or view previous shows. I called them this morning and within 10 minutes the issue was fixed.
I'll probably give them another call about the 3mbit issue but it isn't that big of deal at the moment. Mainly because my pings are low.

Voip Concerns - Unblockable numbers, Second Opion Please!Hello all, I've got a whopper for you all, and require a second opinion. I currently subscribe to Bresnan Triple play and my concern has to do with the phone service.. my EMTA is a ARRIS TM602G DOCSIS 2.0 As of late I've been getting a lot of SPIT (Spam over Internet Telephony) Mostly idiot robo calls or people who want people I have no clue about. They are annoying and harassing, and very hard to report to the FTC or the FCC for that matter. These people call at the most inconvenient times, and fill my voice mail box with half messages and half audible garbage.. Yes, I've been on the do not call list for over a year, both nationally and in my state.. I've had my telephone number for 15+ years and I don't care to change it.. I've removed my self and the phone number from the national marketing association, and other worthless attempts to enjoy a single dinner without some damn telemarketer or debt collector who thinks my name is Vernon.. (It's Gabriel...) Some times these callers have fully formed ANI (telephone numbers) that I can put in our block list for a couple of weeks, and report, and that normally gives the jerks the hint.. More often than not, the headers simply say unknown with no telephone number, or worse a malformed telephone number. Bresnan's current system allows these to pass. They are not blocked.. I'd really like them to be blocked.. Unless you have a phone number I can call back or report to the FTC, you don't need to call me.. I've called Bresnan and was told that they don't control *ANYTHING* regarding the ability to block these types of calls, and if they are getting past the anonymous call block that is already in place, they cannot (or WILL NOT) block them. So, I called back, and asked if one could get the SIP authentication information, so that I could process the call & headers myself using asterisks or another VOIP solution. Even if I have to supply my own EMTA I'm okay with this.. I was told I could not, that was a violation of their terms of service, and that no SIP authentication information is generated.. I was told that my only option was to speak to the commercial side of the company.. and pay twice as much money for the same thing.. Well, I do know a little about SIP and I KNOW that my EMTA does talk with them via SIP over a separately provisioned channel in docsis. That they authenticate via a MAC, but there is still sip traffic I could listen to, and either handle the call myself, or hairpin the call, and drop the idiots before it actually rings my phone! I technically can hair pin the call directly outside their modem, but based on the information I've researched , I'm not going to get any of the headers I could use to identify and report these idiots. The splash page where I go to manage my phone is provided by NET2PHONE, and as far as I can tell, they provide SIP authentication!!! I'd like to know what you think, and if you know of a better way to handle this situation.. HELP! Gabriel

Re: Voip Concerns - Unblockable numbers, Second Opion Please!Bresnan's digital phone is not Internet Telephony. They're regular POTS lines that are carried over the cable modem and then converted to analog at the MTA. They don't cross through the Internet at all. It's not SIP either, it's H.323 (they do offer a commercial SIP solution though).
As for the SPAM calls, legal action (or the threat of) is the most effective way to stop harassing phone calls. You can activate call blocking on your phone service and block the numbers if they call repeatedly.

said by cablegeek01:As for the SPAM calls, legal action (or the threat of) is the most effective way to stop harassing phone calls. You can activate call blocking on your phone service and block the numbers if they call repeatedly. @ CableGeek You cannot block malformed telephone numbers, nor can you block "Unknown" or "Private" numbers. This is at the CORE of my issue.. When the Caller ID header is "NULL" or Malformed and or has less than ten digits, the system passes the call and will not allow you to block them! Bresnan does not have the ability, or refuses, to provide the ability to block "Anonymous", "Private" or "Unknown" calls. (Including Caller ID headers that are Null or less than 10 digits) * I know because I DO block the numbers I can, and I DO have anonymous call blocking turned on.. "Null" Headers still get thru! Let me state.. I don't get calls from foreign countries, nor do I WANT *any* calls unless there is a number I can call back and raise hell on, or report to the FTC, FCC, or Local Law Enforcement.. Secondly, how do you harass a Automated Robo Call?? Thirdly, Asterisks can still act as a MGCP Gateway (Version 1.8) I could still have the full headers from the call, process the P Assurance ID and or the other caller header information, and use it to report and drop these jerks. Another Question, because my "Features" are controlled from net2phone, they are (thru Bresnan) still providing the DID right? Finally, While I don't disagree that it could be MGCP, my conversations with the "Staff" there, was the reason I said it was SIP.. I will confirm this.. Again, do you have a better solution?

I am not sure but couldn't you write a script into your router that would block "malformed" numbers? or maybe a script that sends all such calls to an endless loop of some elevator music? Not sure at all and maybe just wishful thinking.

Tychicus, That's the kicker.. as it stands right now, and is my complaint. Bresnan told me flat out, that access to the network with my own equipment is a TOS violation. So apparently even if Asterisk can act as a gateway, they don't care, for security reasons. (I can see their argument, but I'm not convinced.) Thus, the only header information I can obtain, is thru the EMTA's FSK burst.. (Caller ID) In order to obtain that, I have to install a Hairpin device directly behind the EMTA. That's an addtional device, drawing power, using more wires, and additional set-ups, and more delay, alas more to go wrong, to digitize a signal that was once digital, back into to digital and then turn it back to analog if it goes to one of my POTS phones.. on and on and on!! That is unless apparently, I spend twice as much for service.. (Horse-hockey) All of this is because they can't or WON'T filter malformed calls, and headers that are EMPTY or NULL when requested.. Apparently because they are afraid some one in a foreign country can't call you. I think they leave this loop hole open, to allow this kind of crap to go on!! IF it was SIP, I could obtain the P-Asserted-Identity Header, P-Preferred-Identity Header, priv-value, etc... EVEN if the Network Asserted Header was anonymous, I could still gain valuable detail and information about the call.. In short, Caller ID does not send this kind of info, But SIP does! As cablegeek correctly pointed out, Bresnan "Digital Phone" is NOT "VOIP". There's a big difference between digital phone and voip. Personally, I recommend getting REAL VOIP. One of the best, and least expensive providers in the country is "VoipO.com". Check them out. Even if you lose part of your discount for NOT having a triple-play, you will only pay about 1/3 the cost for your phone. You'll also have a lot more control over it.
But if you want to try and keep bresnan phone and fix your problem, it is possible. Treat the OUTPUT (Analog signal from the bresnan phone box) that you normally connect your phone to, as an FXO line. Think of it as a C.O. line. Make this your TRUNK line to your PBX (Asterisk Server). Then, you can do whatever you want in the Asterisk. Bresnan has no control over what you do with the analog portion of the signal once you have it. Yes, this is double conversion. Yes, a slight delay. But unless you are willing to get "REAL VOIP", which bresnan is NOT, this is where you have to start. Once in your asterisk, you "might" have a chance of filtering certain calls. Best of luck.

Christcorp,
I agree with exactly what you have said. I can and do treat the output of the MTA as a CO trunk. I've been using this as a solution in part since koolkid responded. I have been looking at VOIP providers that don't suppress the privacy headers or the other "Identity" information. Do you know if that service provides unlocked privacy headers?
The information I got from a Bresnan agent before, wasn't completely clear, and as far as I know, it is MGCP not VOIP. However, Asterisk 1.8 will have full MGCP support, so the point as far as I can see, is mute.
What I have a problem with, and the reason I'm venting and griping here, is the fact that Bresnan refuses to restrict calls that have malformed headers.. I pay for a service, and they don't deliver.
My Goal is not to have to run a PBX!!! I pay for a service, and I'm having to Rube Goldberg a solution, that they advertise!!
Again by this definition I'm referring that the Telephone number is not a full 10 digit number, does not have the required CID (ANI) info, and it's also annoying that the toll numbers, that have suppressed their identity as well..
Now I know that there are reasons why companies like Bresnan, would allow this, as some international and satellite calls don't provide a full SS7 route or ANI / DNIS info. (If I understand the reasoning).. However As far as I'm concerned they are full of crap, and let me explain why.
Any international or satellite route, goes thru a domestic trunking station somewhere *domestically*.. A SS7 channel *IS* generated from that point on.. a code of "International Call" and a 0xxxxxxxxx Designator could be applied with the simplest of ease..
I live in, and Bresnan provides services in the "USA". Where I live there is Enhanced 911. This means by tariff, they have to provide to law enforcement or other emergency services the number, and address of any subscriber on their network. The same is true with 98% of the United States.
This means they have information to provide to a SS7 channel "Identity". Granted, users of such a service have the ability to bock their information, but the headers on such a call are part of the tariff. "Unknown" is different than "Private/Restricted".
This is "supposed" to be part of a Tariff, and Call-blocking is supposed to prevent numbers that are blocked from ringing thru..
I wonder if they do this because they get kickbacks from these advertising companies. Or perhaps they are truly incompetent blobs of flotsam, who can't manage a telco network.
Either way, it's freaking annoying and disgusting at the same time.. I see no common sense reason why Bresnan allows this, or allows malformed headers..
I forgot this.. If the call is originated from a VOIP provider over IP, to a SS7 gateway, the session information is still retained, even if the SIP headers are forged, the Orig IP is still part of the headers..
Sorry I've rambled.. I'm still pissed..

Go to » www.voipo.com and send them an email. I helped develop that voip company and think very highly of them. I use them, and since going live, I've backed out of the business side of the company. But they are probably one of the best companies available. If you email them, and refer to their engineering department, they should be able to answer all your questions about if their service can do what you want it to do. If you'd like to go to their forum and ask the owner/CEO directly; his name is "Tim", aka "VoipOTim" go to: » forums.voipo.com/. You can mention that we chatted and I recommended you speak with him. They know me by christcorp and by Mike. Now that they are up and running 100%, they have a full engineering and tech staff that can answer all your questions. This provider was built on 2 years of alpha/beta testing. The entire service is based on what the customers wanted and not what the company wanted to provide. I definitely think you should check them out. Also, Tim is on THIS forum in the VOIP section. You can ask him a question there also. Mike....

On our Comcast CDV line;
Anonymous Call Rejection only works with Private callers with the privacy flag intact. That means no null/Out of Area.
Even then, the recording they play has no sit tones, so that automated dialers don't stop trying to call and make repeated missed calls in incoming list.
Otherwise they let through all sorts of bullshit numbers like (567) 000-5693 eg an exchange starting with a 0 or 1 is never assigned. (411) 693-4255 etc.
Call blocking or Forwarding selective only has room for 12 numbers. It will not accept the bullshit numbers, and no wildcards.
Even then, the recording they play has no sit tones, so that automated dialers don't stop trying to call and make repeated missed calls in incoming list. I have played with forwarding them instead of blocking and sent the calls to a disconnected number that have sit tones.
I now use Phone Tray on this line. The trick is to use a recording with sit tones so that automated dialers will stop calling. The actual voice part of the recording is only for the occasional human that may be listening to the audio. For Private, Out of Area, and 0000000000, my recording says I don't accept blocked or unavailable callerid, please unblock your callerid and call back. A legit human caller will hear that, while robo dialers just hang up right after the sit tones. All other blocked callers get a standard disconnect message.

Massive Slowdowns NO MORE! Goodbye Bresnan HELLO Qwest!I hope you Bresnan jerks are reading this. It is I, bigburd who posted the original massive slowdowns post that managed 705 replies and over 15,000 reads AND YOUR NETWORK IS STILL IN A SHAMBLES EIGHT MONTHS AFTER THE OUTTAGE AUGUST 2009! Well guess what! I finally had it with you and your crappy service that slows down to almost nothing at peak times. Today the Qwest guys came in and ran a new line for my second Qwest DSL line (My first one has ALWAYS been solid and runs the speed i pay for) and in one week you not only lost my internet money, but I am dumping your crappy television service which I pay way too much for to watch what seems like a bottomless pit of infomercials and commercials. That's right I am out from under your greedy little pay-for-what-you-dont-get thumbs! You can tell Shaun Baqaj there is no need for him to send another truck without notification to my brother's house thinking I am him either. Mr Baqaj has proven to me he couldn't network two tin cans and a string with any real success plenty of times so I don't need to be reminded by your brainless cronies. No more lies from your inadequate tech support, no more of your little cronies dropping in to forums such as this one and continuously making up stories about how your company has/is "implemented solutions to make things run faster and better". We've all heard it a million times and it is all simply a lie. The fact is you have been throttling the network traffic all along, you have had full control of how fast our service is and you have done everything in your power to cover that fact up. So with that I say: GET YER FRIGGIN HANDS OUT OF MY POCKET CAUSE I AM NO LONGER PAYING FOR SOMETHING I NEVER GET!! BYE BYE BRESNAN FOREVER!
THE FCC NEEDS TO TAKE CONTROL OF THE ISP'S!!! UNTIL THEY HAVE RULES AND GUIDELINES TO FOLLOW THEY WILL ALWAYS BE ABLE TO MESS WITH YOUR TRAFFIC TO WHATEVER END THEY SO CHOOSE!

Crappy connection? Check your router!I go through routers like water sometimes. Eventually I got sick of it (around a couple years ago) and built my own using Linux.
It's not that hard, and can handle ANYTHING. Here's the list of routers I went through:
Linksys BEFW11S4 (802.11b router. It would lock up in 2-3 minutes as a router, now runs without problems as an AP.) ZyXEL P-320W (802.11g router. I got 5 of these on eBay for cheap.. They would lock up in around 4 minutes as a router, but run great as an AP.) D-Link DI-514 (802.11b router. It didn't even survive a minute as a router. It now runs perfectly as an AP) D-Link DI-624 (802.11g router. This one lasted around 10 minutes as a router. Now an AP without issues)
It seems no one makes a solid router anymore. Once you shove a crapload of traffic through it, it locks up. Now, if you want to pay $200+ for one, go ahead.
My best bet was to build one. My main router is a Dual P3 @ 1GHz with 512MB of RAM running Gentoo Linux. Overkill, sure.. but what's nice is I haven't went down at all.. even my secondary router (P-200MMX, 128MB RAM, Gentoo Linux) runs without issues when I do maintenance on the primary.
So, the next time you think it's your connection, PLEASE check your router first. It could be locking up on you. If it is, just head to your local Goodwill/Rescue Mission and grab an old Pentium or PII and set it up.
If you decide to keep your wireless router and use it strictly as an AP, follow these steps.
1. Connect router directly to your computer. 2. Do a factory reset on the wireless router. 3. Disable the DHCP server on the wireless router. 4. Set up the IP of the wireless router to x.x.x.2 (or something) 5. Save settings and reboot the new AP. 6. Disconnect it from your computer and plug it into your switch. Only use the LAN ports, don't use the WAN port. 7. Log into the AP (x.x.x.2). 8. Setup the SSID and Wireless Security settings. 9. Save, reboot, and you're off to problem free Internet.
Remember to setup a DHCP server, on your new router. Both Wireless and Wired boxes will talk to each other without issues.
If you want any pointers, I'd be glad to throw some your way.

SuddenLink, Knology Eye Bresnan CommunicationsAll I can say is.. It figures.
Since Bill Bresnan is gone, the CEO can do whatever he wants with the company. Talk about backstabbing everyone, including the customers. Sell out while you still can, I guess.
I'd love to have a nice little chat with the CEO. I hope Bill haunts his ass forever.
If one of these other companies takes over, you can bet your ass that services are going to suck like never before.

Slow uploads as of recent?I've browsed here for a while, concerning Bresnan's internet service, and I've seen ups and downs in people's usage of the service, but I have noticed something strange the past year. Maybe it has been discussed already, but I would not mind to start a current discussion on the issue.
Anyway, I have Bresnan's 15/1 service, in Lander, WY, and for the past year I have noticed that I rarely get the advertised upload. The download is quite fine 90%, but I average about 250kbps on the upstream. Does anyone know why this is? I am not the only one with this issue in this town, and I have switched modems, and debugged routers, so its neither of those issues.
Occasionally, I'll have my 500-600 kbps upload, but during 12pm to 4am, it seems to just tank hard.
About two years ago, I used to work for Bresnan, and I left when they were just implementing phone service. The service was pretty nice back then, and I know they've done alot of changes since then and now, but their current performance is.... interesting.
Anyway, if there's anyone who would know what's going on, I would greatly appreciate a reply. This board moves slow, so I don't expect an immediate reply. Thank you.

Re: Slow uploads as of recent? My experience on the 15/1 package is almost the exact opposite. I can usually get very close on the upstream (within 100Kb/s) but the downstream is what seems to be lacking here. It had been getting better but the last few days have been declining again, not as bad as it was but noticeable.

Ping has doubled latelymy ping has doubled to around 100 to all servers. here is a tracert of google, what do you guys think? I play games and now every server I have a ping of at least 120... Support has done nothing to help OF COURSE.

Lag Spikes in GamingFor the last week especially, I have been getting brief, but annoying, lag spikes in all of my multiplayer games. I have an awesome ping in every match, so latency is not an issue. My ping usually ranges between 20 and 60ms. But every 30 seconds to 1 minute, I get a 250-500ms spike (not indicated in the game, however). Before I know it, I'm dead. I've tried Counter Strike: Source, Team Fortress 2, and Call of Duty: MW2 -- all with the same problem.
Not sure what it is, but it's ridiculously annoying.

Helena ProblemsI had been getting a solid 8mbps & 105 ping connection up until about 10 days ago, now I am lucky to get 3. I always used the Kalispell server on speedtest.net. My tracert shows horrible ms on some Level3 servers. I actually called Level3 and told them about it, and they fixed it the next day. Bresnan, however has done nothing to help my connection since I ping just fine in network. Thank goodness I get 8Mbps on that bresnan.com/speedtest site!
Now I ping over 200 to Kalispell. I don't care so much about the downstream, but I'm a gamer and I can hardly get any pings under 100 on Counter-Strike, or any server for that matter. MW2 for PS3 (which I tried wiring straigh from the modem itself) I can't get better than about 115 MS.
Has anyone else noticed any bad slowdowns in Helena lately? I'm out by Rossiter school.

Competition/UpgradeSince TCT doesn't have a forum here on DSLR I thought this was the next best place to post especially since Bresnan and TCT have been in a heated competition in the Powell market for awhile now. It seems as though our TCT internet was upgraded from a 10/5 connection to a 20/5 connection either yesterday or sometime over the weekend. Price wise Bresnan is $52.95 standalone for 8/384K service and TCT is $42.45 standalone for 20/5 service. Here are comparisons of Bresnan in Powell from a friend's house (he has the 8/384 basic tier) and TCT in Powell from our house. I told him to monitor his Bresnan connection to see if it is consistently that low or if it is just peak times... Bresnan 8/384 TCT 20/5 Billings Casper Cody

CablecardAnyone have experience with cablecards on Bresnan's service? I called and asked if they have cablecards and they said yes, but I would like to know if anyone has actually used one through Bresnan. I know the DCH STBs that Bresnan uses have an M card installed at the factory, but I am interested in third party hardware. If so, how much is the monthly charge for the card, do they lease M cards or just S cards, and how did the installation go (self or truck roll required)? Just put in a preorder for Ceton's Digital Cable Quad Tuner PC Card...hoping for the best...

Re: CablecardLooks like it costs $1.99/mo to lease a cablecard from Bresnan. Since I only need one cablecard to handle the quad tuner that would be saving me $28.01/mo (instead of 2 dual tuner DVRs at $15/mo each)...Should equal out the cost of the tuner in about 14 and a half months. Not too terribly bad I guess, should be worth it though I think. Won't be back in Butte till mid August, currently have my inet on seasonal so will upgrade when I get there.

Price hike and other changes Page 1 | Page 2 |
Looks like Bresnan is doing a 7% price hike as well as some other changes. Basic internet is going from 8Mb/s to 12Mb/s and the Speed Plus tier is going from 15Mb/s to 18Mb/s. They are also adding some channels both SD and HD. It seems it might just be for Butte, but not sure. Anybody else get this in their last bill? I have the paperless/online billing only but they sent one this time.
