turning off the max box? HD = faster internets?

I've been reading rumour that turning the max settop box's power off will give you faster speeds, I tried testing this, and nothing seems to have changed, so I have a couple questions..

- If I quit using max (unsubscribe) will my speeds at least stay the same?
- Is there a way to get even faster than the advertised "fastest" package (I thnk it's MaxPlus that I have)
- If I get the maxHD, does it give faster internet speed as well? (related to turning off the box sort of)

Re: turning off the max box? HD = faster internets?

late, but info maybe will do someone else good

you get 2 profiles when you subscribe to max

1 for the set top boxes, and 1 for everything else

let's say you have Max Plus, that gives you 3ish mbps per STB, and 5 mbps for internet

if you had 4 STB and internet you'd have a total of 17 mbps of bandwidth. even if you turn the STB's off, you'll still not get more than 5mpbs for internet

the rumour you're hearing is more along the lines of:

needing 17mpbs for everything, but you've got a bad line or something, and you can't get more than let's say 14mbps total

the QoS settings will give the bandwidth to the STB's before the internet, so you've only got 2mbps for internet
now if you turn off a STB, that frees up 3mpbs, so now you can get the full 5
