my connection

I have DSL From pioneer internet, and my connection has really high latency, at least 100ms to get anywhere. The first 4-6 months I had this connection my first hop was always 12 ms, but for the las 6 months it is never less than 60 ms. anybody else with pioneer have this problem?

IPTV

every night my connection becomes pretty much unusable. I'm sure it's because of all the tv programming being sent over the phone lines. I'm lucky to be able to download at 200k after 6pm. WTF??? isn't IPTV for use with FTTH? I don't think there's a fiber-optic cable in the whole freakin' pioneer service area. I cant play Halo3 because everyone in my little town is watching their crappy pioneer DTV and its sucking up all the bandwidth. I want some competition. Pioneer is the ONLY option for broadband where I live, and I pay for 3mb download. I want that 3mb ALL THE TIME!!!! AS it stands , I only get good downstream bandwidth when no one in my town is watching TV. Does this seem fair? Am I overreacting? Is there a state agency I can complain to? I have had it up to HERE!!! Thank you for letting me vent, this is a very frustrating situation.

Performance and availability

While Pioneer Telephone and internet has had some problems they have not had anymore then any other internet provider who is trying to keep up with the times and technology. Most of the consumer problems that I checked out for myself from their complaint data base was not the fault of Pioneer at all, but a problem on the consumers end. Ranging from bad cables to low bandwidth caused by splitting their bandwidth with a router between several computers in their homes to simple cable issues caused by accidental tripping breaking or ruining the cables, kids and or pets. Pioneer has tried to keep up with the times and technologies that come out daily. One of the new service speeds for internet is a 6mb or 6000 service that is very fast. However, remember that few sites download stream or anything else at this speed so it is basically a waste for most surfing consumers unless you have a specific that it can be justified using. For example; if all a website can let you have is 400kbs stream then what good is having a 6mb connection? You could have downloaded as fast as possible with their 1.5 or 1500 service. It is unfortunate that in Kingfisher county Oklahoma other Internet providers are not allowed and there is basically a monopoly on Internet service by Pioneer. Choice would be nice!
If a person is having a problem with their Pioneer telephone or their internet service and are complaining about it but not doing anything about it is worthless and no one can help you. The people of Pioneer are really dedicated to having their customers satisfied. Try to contact the IT department, or tech line that they have for you to call. There is a local and toll free number. You might be surprised to find how helpful as well as what length they are willing to go to keep you happy and you connection running perfect. No one can make you happy if all you do is blog bad comments about them and never try and resolve the issue that has you bad mouthing them. A number of variables can and will effect the line quality, the speed and performance of your connection to Pioneer. All cables and wiring must be in good shape and working order or there will be issues. It also must be hooked up correctly. However, before calling them make sure that what ever is wrong isn't something basic that you have missed on your end -- such as poor cable, or a bad phone line cord to your modem that you know your kids or you have damaged either tripp0ing over it or pulling on it until it is defective. These things are not the fault of Pioneer or any other provider. That one is on you!! When you call for technical help and to voice your concerns remember that a kiss on the cheek goes much farther then a slap in the face. No one likes a problem customer with a bad attitude, and all of Pioneers customer service people and technicians will go to great lengths to make the problem go away including rude, critical and abusive customers that no matter what they do they cannot please. Also remember that there is a point that the complaint becomes a customer abusing Pioneer and their employee's and they do not have to endure this and can decide to terminate the call if you become abusive! I have had a number of years experience and dealings over the years with different providers, Technicians and people in this business and I would rate Pioneer to be as good as any top provider is. They are no different then any other technical service that has to iron out the bugs in any changing technology for the consumer to have a reliable service.

broadband initiative

Anyone have details on the fiber upgrade going on now in the Bridge Creek/Tuttle area? They're coming down my street now, lots of orange conduit. A new junction box has been installed outside our house, and a UPS inside.

Thx,

Dave

FTTH

OK, still no word on when the fiber in Bridge Creek is going to be activated.
I don't currently have Pioneer service, so if any of you who do find anything out, please let me know!

Thx

Re: FTTH

Just got a callback on an inquiry. They are currently "splicing" in my area, so it shouldn't be too long now!

Re: FTTH

Another update, direct from Pioneer:

To update you on the Newcastle Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH), Projects, Phase I and Phase II, the Optical Network Terminals (ONT’s), have been installed on customers’ homes and the conversion process has started, which consists of cutting the customers over to the new fiber service. To date, Phase I is 85% complete and Phase II is 43% complete. The number of customers impacted by the conversion of Phase I and II total approximately 1,613.
