Recent Ping issues during peak hours

I have noticed that during peak hours I have some pretty intense ping issues. Normally I get sub 40 MS coast to coast on the CableOne 10 meg plan, but at night recently it jumps to 200 local, and sometimes 250 or higher for 1000+ mile connections. This has been pretty much ruining my COD:MW2 sessions, and I am wondering what is the likely cause.

In ping plotter it is hard to tell if it is CableOne or the ATT backbone causing the issue, normally first hop is fine, but then the next 2 hops, which look to be internal CableOne addresses like 192.168.8.49 are like 180 MS, then all the other hops only add a few MS for a total of around 200. Now I think this means that those second and third hops are the issue, and then the rest of the nodes (which are the ATT backbone) are passing the data along at the normal >2 MS speed.

I just wondered if anyone had any insight or similar experiences with this recently. I am not even bothering to call at the moment because I doubt the phone tech will even understand the issue, but if no one else is having the issue then I will probably call to get it checked (because it could be specific to my connection).

Also, I heard there is a new 12 Meg plan, is this in all markets or just some areas? It is not listed on the cable one website, so I am wondering if it is market specific. What does it cost per month?

Still bad

Shame on cableone

Someone here claimed that many of the northwestern customers are suffereing bandwidth issues because of a backhaul problem, if thats the case WOW 2 weeks and still no resolution. I love paying 90 dollars a month for 200 Kilobytes a second YAY!.

Im starting to think it may be a smarter idea to go to qwest 7mbit plan at least its never thottled and it gives what is advertised.

Ill report back in 1 week, when I do decide to do this.

So, why did I get throttle last night??

I have the 10d/1u package for about the last 2 weeks. Been pleased with the speeds and have done numerous speed test and cableone has delivered.......

until yesterday

around 6:00 pm I notice that I was throttle to 5megs..and what's even stranger is that my computer was off all day yesterday...I just turn it on. I have nothing else connected to my network. I have no wireless at all so nobody is hacking my network. I did several speed test to differant sites that previously, was showing I was getting little more than the advertise speed. When I try to access the cableone bandwidth site.... it's not working at all and this morning it still is down.

So, I'm trying to figure out why I was throttle down. I hope this doesn't start a trend.
