Hello all,
This is my first post here. I have been loosing my connection very frequently for the last three weeks. I have tried calling the customer service number three times, but to no avail I am still having the same problem. I live in Wauregan and have had cable internet for just about five years now. I never used to have any problems until recently. I was told about a week ago by a tech named Eric that there was problems with some wires running from Rte 12 into town and that it was being worked on. Nothing improved and Thursday I called and talked with a tech named JJ and he said Nothing was wrong with my connection and I needed to have a tech come to my house. The earliest appointment I could get is Sep. 8th. I know of two other customers in town that I had convinced to get your service that are having the same problems. I don't see how this could be something with my hardware . I am hoping that one of you guy could shed some light on the situation for me. I am including my modem log from this morning in hopes it contains a clue. It has been very strange lately.

|
| 1 edit | Modem replacements are only as required. You cant just come in say I want a new modem, and have at it.
For customers with Ultra (6mb package) and a Surfboard 3100 they should have already had their modems replaced at or just after their upgrade.
If you do not have Ultra (the only one that will not go fullspeed on a 3100), and your modem is functioning, then you would not be elegable for a modem replacement.
For now, self subscription is still in place, this may change in the future.

But it's nice to know I'll get one if mine dies.
|
| | | | | Re: Ultra not going anywhere. The Surfboard 3100 is capable of transfering approximately 5mbit per second (due to the 10Bast Half-Duplex port on the back), so it will not have an issue with the 4mb package, however you would only get ~5mbit on the ultra package. | |

| | New Metrocast plans Looking at the new Metrocast page for former Eastern customers, it appears there are 2 problems with the new plans:
1. The $39.95 (for 4.0MB/384kB) does not appear to include the $2.95 "equipment and maintenance fee", so the total would be $42.90/month. True or not true?
2. The prices all say "w/ Expanded Basic Cable Service or Higher". YIKES. A customer who currently has limited basic will have to fork out an ADDITIONAL $30+ a month for that!
DSL anyone? | |

That's a bummer. I will have to change my email on a hundred or so sites. I will also have to retrain all my contacts.
