Im on Blueyonder

So far I have had very good service. Been using it for more than a year now.. and im on a 1mb connection. I believe its much better than the rest of the companies.. good value for money.

IP Renew...

Im trying to renew my IP address and it wont seem to renew, any ideas?

I have tried ipconfig/renew and i tried 'repairing' my connection from xp's network settings. Any help much appreciated, ty

Try turning off the modem, unplugging network cable and Coax cable, Turn modem on, insert Coax and then network cable to PC. Works for me every time.

Blueyonder No Probs

Iv Been Usng The Corporate BY Service now for over year using the 2mb service, I Dont Have Any problems or complaints, this is by far the best broadband service that I have had the pleasure of using to date..

Blueyonder 1Mb

I am on 1Mb blueyonder account and am really happy with it but every now and them my ping is very, very high. Not sure why, oh I know connection speed differes depending on amount of people loged on but I think it's still much too high, will have to call them to get it rechecked.

Blueyonder Test Speeds

Lookong at this page - I am new to the Forum - I see rather slow results.

I have been with BY since the beginning, about six years and have had a reliable service all that time.

I now have the 10 MB package and consistently log downloads at 7 MB actual time.

The only problem with BY is the bad servcie and the threat that NTL taking them over will fould up what is currently an excellent system.

I have signed up with new SKY - my satellite TV service - who offer a package of unlimited usage and speed 10 >16MB very cheap because I am already a customer. Actual performance is very variable, the service weak and the email module not yet working. Still it may imporve with time.

Blueyonder/VM 20mb

Upgraded from a 4mb connection to the 20mb connection and shortly after realised i was getting VERY slow speeds (akin to dial up). After three months of reporting it to VM they finally told me that it was my modem causing the trouble as it was 5 years old ...despite me asking their technicians many times!

If anyone is having trouble getting the 'proper' speeds - or anything that resembles speed go to their /gofaster website and check your modems are compatible because they won't tell you even if you ask!

i have no problem downloading at 2.35mb/sec whilst typing this

Hi and thanks for the information - I just upgraded to the 20M line but only get a 10th of the download speed expected. I explicitly asked Virgin Media if I needed to upgrade any HW and they explained that there was no need to. My modem is more than 5 years so I'll now go and check and let you know the outcome.

Had same problem last month, upgraded from 4mb to 20mb but was only getting 8-10mb after "upgrade".

Checked VM web page on modems and it listed my old Motorola modem ok for 20mb but ordered free new modem anyway (Scientific Atlanta 2100) - it came in 3 days and installed fine no problems... (tele call to VM to activate mac address for new modem needed - 5 minutes later online).

Now consistently get 12-20mb depending on day week etc. Interestingly using speedtest.net web page and London server tends to show lower speeds than the Paris server....
