It took me a while to figure this out, but I saw this tip in tivocommunity.com and it allowed my Tivo to dial-in over my VoiceWing VOIP connection.

Set Dial In Number: (Just choose your local area code or previous local #) it doesn't matter what is in here

Set Dial Prefix: 7039409705,,,,,

Set Call Waiting Prefix: None

Set Tone/Pulse: Tone

Set Phone Available Detect: Off

Set Dial Tone Detector: Off

I just noticed this forum is under "ISPs". Huh? VoiceWing is VOIP, not an ISP.

Re: Voicewing is CRAP

When you sign up and E911 isn't provided acct is suspended, not deactivated. You need to call in to deactivate. Not their fault you didn't call in when you got the e-mail saying to do so.

VoiceWing Multi-Line accounts down Globally

Someone at VoiceWing messed up badly as all Multi-Line customers (they say) are down and have been since around noon PST. It is now 2:15pm PST. This is hours after I had successfully transferred my old telephone numbers over (14 day process). Successful only after discovering that Verizon had cut off my old POTS lines early (around 9pm) and the numbers had yet to be transferred 13 hours later!

After 30 minutes waiting for a technical support person I was connected to a helpful and apologetic tech who added my numbers in and tested the lines. There was no explanation as to why this took 13 hours and a phone call initiated by me.

Now, after a second call for the latest problem I got the funniest statement by a tech yet... "That is a problem and we are working on it..."

Okay, maybe everyone hasn't seen the latest Verizon Wireless commercial where an unknown carrier tries to lure a Verizon Wireless customer away with cardboard cutouts filling in for "The Network". The Verizon customre pushes over the cardboard cutouts and the unknown carrier rep says "That is a problem and we are working on it..."

WHAT A JOKE!!! I only wish I'd been recording the call.

Re: VoiceWing Multi-Line accounts down Globally

Update: The nightmare continues...

I have had the worst luck with VoiceWing. To go back to the beginning, I placed the order and they had trouble with the 911 verification on multiple occasions causing my credit card to be charged 5 times as they kept trying to get an account opened. My address wasn't in the 911 database? VoiceWing got this straightened out within 24 hours and my phone adapter was shipped. I got the multi-line account for $45 bucks a month.

My adapter arrived in a couple of days and I followed the installation instructions exactly. It didn't work.

I got tech support on the line and they weren't familiar with the Actiontec router (The one that comes with VerizonFios). So, me being a Network Engineer, I walked the tech through my setup stating that I had created a static NAT for the telephone adapter...

The tech kept insisting that I needed to make the adapter the DMZ host... (Same thing since I have 5 IP's). So I did that and it didn't work there either.

We gave up for the day. I got a much more informed tech the next day and he found that the telephone numbers hadn't been put in the configuration (DUH).

We got it working immediately without being NAT'ed and everything was good...(well not really... the numbers got lost out of the config file one more time and service went down for 12 hours) until we tried porting my old Verizon POTS numbers to the two new VoiceWing lines.

911 didn't work again and this time the account was suspended (NO PHONE CALLS IN OR OUT). How does this fix the 911 issue? Now not only can't I call 911 but I can't call the police or fire department on the regular numbers. Not to mention the business that uses these two phone lines. It's been 40 hours of outage now and VoiceWing says they are making progress...

After 24 hours down, I purchased a Vonage adapter, got it home, signed up for service and had a Vonage line working in 10 minutes from plugging the darn thing in. I would have used Vonage in the first place, but they couldn't port my old numbers over.

Voicewing Outage ?

Anyone? All I can do is make outgoing calls? No incoming
Lee

Re: Voicewing Outage ?

All day Sunday and still today, Monday. Only outbound calls will work. If you try to call in you get a recording that is cut off at the beginning stating the 'service is temporarily unavailable'.

I can barely access the website to get the contact info to call about this issue. It has been well over 24 hours. this is pathetic from a telco.

Re: Voicewing Outage ?

Hi,
I agree. I went with Voice Wing from Vonage because I thought if Vonage went belly up I would lose my phone number.
Now I'm back with the Telco (Or their contractor) I thought I would be safe. Guess I'm wrong..
If they only had kept their landline service competitive I would go back. However all the BS charges. I would go back to VONAGE before anyone else. I had only minor problems with them.

Voicewing works

Uh. Voicewing service has been working for me. I have 2 line system. cant get fax machine to work though.

Website has been upgraded and is faster now - it was useless until about 3 weeks ago. Still needs some improvement but at least the buttons work now.

Volume was LOUD. Had customer service crank down to lowest setting. sounds fine.

Verizon Voicewing sales sux!

After reading website after website about Verizon Voicewing and their almost complete failure to sell a decent product, I was still interested and I emailed Verizon from their own website to inquire about this product.

First initial contact was made 4-9-2007 and it took some one 2 business days just to answer, that the email has been forwarded to Voicewing. Nothing more than that or if I had further questions I could call them directly. Today 4-14-07 and still no respond from them.

I did try to call them though, just to get some very sad answers to my questions like: Is the account manager website improved and the answer was: every user got different speeds trying to log on to it. Second question was: Is it reasonable that it should take 4-6 weeks for number porting? Answer to that was: It shouldn't take more than 14 business days but no promises. It could take some extra time if any complication showed up.

Am I wrong if I say that Verizon got the customers by the neck? Meaning that if a customer got phone(pots) and dsl service and cancel out on phone service then the price for dsl will increase? So if we don't chose their product for VOIP then we are screwed.

So with all this in mind I can't give Verizon any positive input and intent do file complaints with BBB and Attorney General if that will help anything for all of us. You just never know?

Verizon wireless to/fro VoiceWing call benefits? In-Network?

Hi.
This question is mainly for users that have both Verizon Wireless and VoiceWing. Although, others who have a sound opinion may also reply.

Will calling to wireless number from VoiceWing be an 'In-Network' call?
In other words, can I save minutes to my verizon wireless phone if I send/recieve calls from VoiceWing?

VOICEWING ......Buyer beware!!! Hidden Costs

I had Verizon DSL (3mbps) and Verizon Landline Phone (no features ,no call wait, etc) and was paying about $62.00 INCLUDING TAX. Seeing how I was a complete Verizon customer, I switched to Verizon Voicewing thinking I would save some money with there $19.95 plan a month and save me another $10.00 per month on my phone bill. One of the Major points I asked the Sales Rep when I was inquiring about the Voicewing service is if my DSL service would remain the same. I was told"YES" seeing how I was already a Verizon customer everything would be the same and it makes it very easy. WOW! Was I in for a surprise. First of all, they were completely wrong about my DSL being the same. First of all what they dont tell you is, you will no longer get a DSL bill anymore as you now have what is called a "DRY" connection. (meaning no landline phone service) You must now give Verizon DSL a credit card to allow automatic draft of your credit card with only an e-mail showing you what they have drafted. No more looking at your bill on line first then paying it. The major screwing though was the price!! it changed! Went up from $29.99 to $39.99!! HUH?? When I called they said, "oh sorry sir no one told you this, but you cannot continue to keep your $29.99 3mbps speed with a dry connection anymore. You have automatically switched to our $39.99 a month plan. ha...ha...ha...got you didnt we?" So I try to switch back to my original plan I had with the landline ph. Guess what?, another thing they dont tell you, once you have switched your ph. # over to "ANY" Internet ph. service even if it is Verzion that you have always had, you now "LOOSE" your phone # and can not reuse it again to switch back to a landline ph!! UGH! I cancelled my Voicewing service after learning this and was told it would cost me yet another $39.99 for canceling the service only 1 week longer then the allowed 30 days trial period. Thats because I didnt get my DSL bill in time to realize what happened. Too late...."sorry sucker! ha....ha...ha....got you again." After a good whinning session with Verizon, they told me in a nice way that that it was my fault for not digging into it more and doing my homework to figure out all the hidden costs. As usual, all Verizon services , even though the name is the same, they all act like separate entities never knowing what each other is doing. Internet Voice over phone service is not for budget minded people, and it appears to me to be for Geeks that travel alot that luv to use there Laptops for everything such as looking at there ph. messages.

Lack of features and slow website?

I am another Sunrocket refugee. I switched to Voicewing because it was the only service that said they could easily get my number back. They did seem to successfully port the number, but I am not very happy with the lack of some services and the horribly slow website to manage the account.

The main service I miss is the ability to receive voice mail attachments as part of the voice mail notification. All you get is an email saying you have voice mail, then you have to call up or go to the web site and open the file. Sunrocket sent the voice mail as an attachment automatically. Do any other VOIP services handle it the way Sunrocket did?

My bigger complaint is the portal to manage the service. It takes forever to load each page, and every time you change pages it takes forever again. Any way to speed this up? I have Verizon Fios with a 15/2 connection, and any other web pages load quickly, so I assume the problem is on their end.

A main reason a tried Voicewing is because I have Fios and was constantly frustrated that the whole Verizon customer service experience is built around having a Verizon phone number. I thought having Voicewing would simply things and give me a "Verizon" number, but now it appears they do not treat Voicewing numbers as "Verizon" numbers, so nothing gained there.

The help on the site is also not very helpful. For example, it says that the service includes synchronization software to synchronize the address book with Outlook, Notes and a few other specifically mentioned programs. While the help says this, you can actually only export a csv file and then import it, no actual synchronization available (and no, this is not just symantec, the help page says you can actually find software on the Voicewing portal that you have to download to enable this synchronization, so the help certainly envisions something different than what actually exists).

I also discovered that there is an early termination fee, which was not disclose at sign up. It took them 10 days to get me the adapter, and then they would not start the port until after I received and configured the adapter, so now I have to pay the fee if I leave. I want to be sure I know what I am getting into before I decide to pay the $40 to leave.

Anyone else have these issues or any solutions? I called tech support, and they only said "that is the way it is."

Thanks

TTRL

Re: Lack of features and slow website?

I concur with your frustrations. I went from a regular Verizon customer to the Verizon voicewing. I was going o go to Vonage but was worried about all the reported legal issues between Vonage and Verizon. Anyway, I've had FIOS for over a year and figured that the broadband connection would facilitate a good and reliable 2 line business Voicewing account. They ported both my numbers though their sales people told me they couldn't port one of them because it was a "smart ring" number that I used for a fax and 2nd phone line. I went ahead and put the smart ring number in for the order to port over and it did it without problems. So, the sales people make up stuff if they don't know it.

Worse is that you can almost never get through to their technical help line. Currently, I've been on hold for 12 minutes and counting. Funny how their voice message on the technical support line first states “due to unusual high call volume…” it should state “due to USUAL high call volume…” I've had to call them numerous times for the same reasons. I have one line simultaneous ring to my cell phone. It doesn't always do this. Also, I have the second line auto forward to an online fax number. That also will just stop working from time to time.

So, here is what the braniacs did at Voicewing. The only way you can check messages is to call your own number or to log into the web site. The web site is EXCRUTIATINGLY SLOW!!!!! if it works at all. It is criminal to have a web site like this in this day and age. So, if you 're not near your computer or you don't have all day to load the page then you have to call your phone number to get a message. And then, guess what, it auto rings your cell phone and never goes to the Verizon voice mail but to your cell phone voice mail. So, if it glitched and your business call got onto the Verizon voice mail and you are not near a computer then you can just forget it.

I don't know how much longer I can tolerate such crap. I've now been on hold for 29 minutes. Good luck to the rest of you.

Re: Lack of features and slow website?

I'm jumping ship and leaving VoiceWing after 2 years. What began 12 days ago as a outgoing call suspension mistake by their e911 system has progressed to no outgoing or incoming calls. During these 12 days, it has become more and more difficult to reach their technical service and I've been on hold for over an hour twice today without getting through. They have failed to follow through time and time again with commitments they made. They absolutely ignore e-mails. So it's not like I had a choice - no phone service and completely unable to reach them to ask about it. Adios, VoiceWing.

Re: Lack of features and slow website--all too true

I have experienced all the problems mentioned and more. Voicewing has the worst customer service and web support ever from a telcom and that covers a lot of ground! I am terminating my accounts and trying to get a credit back but from all the complaints here I don't expect much success.

Do NOT sign up for Voicewing service. You will regret it and end up paying to leave early.

Re: Lack of features and slow website?

I must be using a different voicewing service than you guys. I too am a SunRocket/Teleblend refugee. Yes the voicewing web site is slow but it's usable. The only problem I had was a bit of echo at first but that was resolved by Customer Service - who it took about 2 minutes to get on the phone - making a configuration change to my TA and having me power cycle it.

I've been very happy with VoiceWing.

I also miss the feature of having voicemail emailed to me as an attachement but it's really not that hard to pick up the phone and get it, or log on to the personal account manager and get it. It's proably more secure that way anyway because attachments sent via email are readable by just about anyone who wants to.

Verizon Voicewing Not Compatible with Satellite TV or Tivo?

This is text from the Verizon Voicewing search feature of FAQS: "Does VoiceWing work with Satellite TV or DVR (e.g. TiVo) service?

VoiceWing will work with these services. However, you may experience troubles ordering Pay per View through your Satellite TV provider. Or you may need a wireline connection to set up your DVR. We recommend you contact your provider for any special updates or direction offered when using a VoIP phone service."
---- Well, i just hung up with a Verizon Voicewing tech rep and he states that this answer is wrong and that my Dish Network connection will not work on their VOIP service. There is something seriously wrong when a tech rep doesn't know how to resolve an issue like this or when website info is wrong. I have no idea who/what to believe now. Very frustrating.

Verizon VoiceWing poor quality and abysmal service

Verizon totally sucks. Like a fool, I switched my second line over to VoiceWing back in June, then after a few months, it stopped taking incoming calls. Tech support had me reset the ATA, and then nothing worked. Did all the basic stuff like reset/reboot the ATA/modem/router, etc. Still broken. Couldn't get anyone in tech support who even had a basic clue about how the service operated, and what my problem was. The were simply working mindlessly off a script. Attempting to escalate to a supervisor or second line support was futile. They also refused to correspond via email, which I would have been happy to do, given I actually work for a living, and can't spend hours all day on the phone debugging their problem.

After two weeks and no service, I just canceled, and refused to pay their termination fee. My next stop was going to be the state utility commission or attorney general's office. Their handling of my situation was incredibly poor.

Turns out VoiceWing isn't even delivered by Verizon, but instead a whole VoIP provider called DeltaThree, that appears to be going out of business (check their financials). It's amazing Verizon has put its brand on such a poor service offering. Unless, of course, they're trying to frighten subscribers away from adopting VoIP.

I'm switching to Comcast Digital Voice, which is what I should have done in the first place. Plus, I'm switching over my primary line, which is going to cost Verizon about $600 in service revenue that mostly flows through to their bottom line. Everyone who has a high quality alternative to Comcast should do the same!

Poor service/reliability of Voicewing

First I had poor voice quality problems. After getting that fixed now the phone is down. I get busy signal on the line. I have had enough with this voicewing service.

And interestingly at the completion of one year with Verizon FiOS, the Actiontec router quit promptly. When I called for replacement, they said I am out of warranty(by a few days) and I will have to buy one.

Verizon Voicewing WORST VOIPcomapnyAVOID,Danger, danger

WORST company ever! They are NOT VERIZON. They are a low budget company that bid to use the Verizon name. There is NO customer service. It took 5 days for them to restore my account when it was suspended because of a brief modem power failer. NO one works on weekend. The phone was good for 5 days. The after 5 minutes your call breaks down. the conversion has echos, and your voice drops to the point where you cannot be heard. They charged me up front and never refunded my money. It took 4 weeks to receive my phone adapter. Another 2 weeks to get my old number. After 2 weeks of crap service, I tried to switch back to my olde Verizon land line. Voicewing (verizon VIOP) would NOT release the number for 2 weeks, pushing past the 30 refund termination deadline. Further proof VoiceWing is NOT Verizon. They are a spererate entity, and only paid to use the Verizon logo.
