Experiences?

I am thinking about going with these guys. They have a better deal then Megapath and Speakeasy... And most of the reviews seem to be favorable.

What I find interesting is they use a different company then Covad. I wonder how stable this other company is.. I know Covad is in financial trouble, but Covad seems to be the big one that most providers use.

If anyone is reading, can you tell me how Linkline's SDSL service is, and what sort of ping times you are getting on their service?

If you have had a bad experience i would definately like to hear it too.

Re: Experiences?

The company used is New Edge Networks. Small in comparison to Covad, New Edge has developed a survival strategy by diversifying into other products besides DSL, including nationwide frame relay and ATM. On the prowl for acquisitions, New Edge recently got a boost when their bid for customers of bankrupt @work division of @home (primarily T1 & T3 clients) and paid a mere fraction of the value ($1 mill) for the network and customers.

New Edge has generally deployed in "tier 2/tier 3" rural and suburban markets where Covad (and Northpoint/Rhythms) avoided, and so is not really a competitor of Covad. In most cases, you will find New Edge in central offices where Covad is not available.

thanks for the info

It sounds like these guys might be decent.

I heard a rumor that if Covad is in my area, NewEdge subcontracts through them, rather then competes, is this correct?

How is it after dropping Global Crossing

The sales rep there told me they aren't using Global Crossing any more. Just curious if anyone knows if their connection has changed for better or worse since they dropped them, and if so how (ie better ping times, worse ping times, download speeds, etc)?

I put an order in for the NewEdge ADSL 768/384 for $69 a month. Looking forward to having it installed and seeing how well it works. I tried to get the Cyberonic WorldCom DSL for $49 a month (1500/768), but aparently MCI doesn't know how to service my C/O cuz they said I am 15000 feet, yet LinkLine tells me I am 6000 feet away. I guess my CO must only be friendly with PacBell and NewEdge, because Covad couldn't serve me either.

LinkLINE 6000/608 Promotion

Effective 2/2/2004 and through 3/31/2004, linkLINE is offering an up to 6 meg downstream, 608k upstream ADSL package in select areas for $49.95. This includes one static IP only. For businesses, we offer a 5-ip package for $79.95.

There are no long term commitments (30 days minimum and 30 day cancellation notice) If you have a compatible modem, there are no set-up fees. The price is permanent and will remain in effect as long as you keep the service.

Customers of linkLINE with existing DSL on their line are not eligible. If you have another pots line at your home and business, and it qualifies for service, we can provision NEW service on another line and you may upgrade at no cost or downtime.

Customers of other ISPs are eligile for this promotion and welcome, however, we currently can not guarantee no downtime but we are working on resolving this issue. We also may not offer service in your area, even though you currently have service with SBC or another ISP.

Note that this is "Rate Adaptive" and that depending on distance, condition of wires, cable gauge, sunspots, landsharks, and other mysterious factors, the minimum guranteed rate is 1.5m down, 384k up. Most customers will acheive around 3 megs by 512k. If you are lucky enough to be a few blocks from an RT or CO, then you can expect to rock and roll. For more information, email sales@linkline.com.

linkLINE 6000/608 Promotion Extended!

Great News! The linkLINE 1500-6000/384-608 static IP DSL promotion has been extended through December 31st, 2004! Please note that this is a linkLINE promotion, and other ISPs and SBC may be offering different prices and features.

Speed: 1500-6000/384-608

IP Options:

Residential/SoHo/Business Customers: 1 Static IP $49.95
Professional/Business Package: 5 routed static IPs $79.95

The Pro package includes pro hosting/ DNS services - save on a la carte pricing.

Note: For best performance on this higher speed package, we recommend professional installation using a "splitter" rather than a self-install.
We also discourage multiple bridged IPs. New Customers needing more than one public IP should purchase the Pro package or a routed subnet. Call for details.

Lowest Price Around:

$49.95/mo with a Price Freeze Guarantee. Price will never go up! Price guaranteed for as long as you keep the service. Month to Month contracts are not available at this price. There is no setup fee on one year contracts.

Distance:
•7500 feet from CO
•10,000 feet from RT.

Taxes:
FUSF charges will be added to each SBC DSL circuit. The fee is currently $2.79, and is subject to change per FCC review each quarter. This is the only cost that may go up or down during the contract period.

Existing linkLINE Clients:
We can simply upgrade your circuit provided you agree to extend service for one additional year. (if you are in a current contract, the begin date on the one year will start over). Best of all, you will not experience any downtime! Simply call us at (877)546-5345

New Clients (with exiting DSL from another provider):
We can transfer your circuit with minimal downtime using the SBC ISP change request. Most clients experience less than 24 hours of downtime.

Important Note:
Do not request cancellation from your existing service provider until we have a confirmed due date for you.

Modem:
Bring your own compatible modem and save. If you need a modem, we can ship you one for $50 including sales tax and shipping.

Early Termination Penalty:
If you need to cancel before the initial 12 minute term, you will be charged a $150 early termination penalty or the balance of months of remaining service, whichever is LESS.

Linkline service

It has been such a pleasure doing business with Linkline. There is always a person (who speaks English) who is immediately responsive when I need HELP. There is not a maze of telephone prompts to get to a tech. After weeks (over a two month period) of telephone calls (often a 30+ minute wait and well over 30 hours on the phone) and conflicting advice from the imfamous Verizon I selected Linkline . WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

Our Commitment to Privacy

We've received a number of calls and inquiries regarding our privacy policy and if we use such "services" as NebuAd. Articles appear on DSLReports almost daily - It appears this practice is becoming more pervasive in the ISP industry. Please be reassured when if comes to your connection with LINKLINE - We don't!

LINKLINE earns all its revenue the old fashioned way - our customers pay us for their connectivity to the internet. We do not look at subscriber surfing habits or preferences as ours to use and mine additional revenue.

We do not share information with companies like NebuAd or any other marketing company.

LINKLINE does not gather, sell, or otherwise share or divulge user browing or internet connection data to outside entities for any reason whether anonymous or not, except under direct order by courts of law. Except when required by law enforcement and/or under court order, all customer usage data remains 100% confidential.

Sales hasn't responded to email inquiries

Sent 2 inquiries and still have not gotten a reply to either, one over 2wks ago. Must be nice to have so much business to be able to blow off potential customers.

Shut up and pay Dan

Read Dan Harley's post on this site. I am a longtime customer of Linkline communications. I agree with Dan that Linkline provides excellent customer support and that Verizon can be a pain to work with. However, it appears as though Verizon at least is willing to obey the law. I have spoken to Dan and I believe him. Linkline may have a point that Dan does not have a contract that requires Linkline to pay him. He says there are people who can back up his story- that he provided a service to Linkline and he was not paid. If the service was provided and Linkline was paid, why not pay Dan?
The reason I am so angry about this is that the excellent service that I have been enjoying was paid for by screwing Dan.I had friends who worked for Linkline. Were their paychecks cashed out of the unpaid labor of people like Dan? I am canceling my service and asking for a final bill. When I send them the check I am going to write on the memo line "Pay this to Dan Harley". I hope it gets there.

Linkline DSL - Down Since 9/28 PM

I'm surprised there are no posts regarding Linkline being doing since yesterday evening.

I noticed it dropped off between 9pm-10pm last night, 9/28. It has been down since then.
