Nice to see that we have a forum for this service. I for one would like to hear from anyone about any good or bad experience they have had with sky.
Myself, well, having opted into the full speed (up to 16mb) I have now been capped at 7mb on the basis that there were "errors" in the line at higher speed. This all stemmed from the fact that my supposed speed was hanging around the 3mb (and still is). They of course have said "not our fault" as most do and blame it on BT.
If you ask BT to check a line, they will say that if no problem is found, you may be liable for up to £115.00 charge !!
Naturally, not wishing to incur such a charge, I have not opted to ask BT to do a check. So I am left with a capped line with sky saying that I opted for the "extras" and it is basically bad luck (my words not theirs).
I too opted for the 16M unlimited option. I am lucky to sync at 2mbps, they site range from exchange as the reason. The oddity is my work DSL (provided by another provider) is a 4M service are works fine. Perhaps I should move my Sky broadband machine downstairs
To be frank, I am only interested in the "unlimited" aspect, speed is all relative.
Good to see this forum. I have Sky "Max" package also, but lucky to get 11mb at best. My biggest problem is frequent dis-connections on daily basis & have yet to find any answers. Also there are no definitive tcp/ip settings recommendations specific to sky broadband, specially not from sky itself. I would be grateful if any one has recommendations for MTU & RWIN settings for 16mb connection thro sky in uk.
I have a had to take out a the bt connect service due to the fact that Sky do not actual have an exchange near me so they piggy back. I have checked the speed reports and seem to never get above 2.5 mbps even though I have a 16 mbps conection (so say). Have been told that the sky exchange is comming soon so maybe notice a change then?????
Hi my sky boradband used to be quick but now it is as slow as a snail. I have just run some tests and have some of the results here can anyone help me and tell me what exactly they ean and if i have a problem. Here is one of the tests
yes sky connect is the worst ever, during peak times 5pm -12 am and weekends they cap users speeds, its shocking i pay £17 a monh for speeds of half a meg (if im lucky) in the evenings, if u considering sky take note, the connect package is truly the worst in uk, i cant even jump the dyke as only aol is in my exchange
I'm absolutely fed up to the back teeth of Sky shoving out adverts shouting about their "superfast 20Meg broadband". It is clearly not. I manage a top-flight mind-bending warp-speed of 4.3Meg, if I'm lucky. I understand the limitations of copper wire systems and cable lengths, before anyone points this out.
I would much prefer providers to advertise their "average customer's speed" when selling their wares. I wonder what Sky's average customer's BB speed is? Anyone know?
