slow speed and can't connect through router Hi, I have called in to support, but thought I would also post here to see if any one else is having similar issues in Brockville. I came back after lunch and none of my PCs or laptop had any internet access. I factory reset modem, rebooted router, etc... still no connection. I have the ASus RTN66U. The router actually said i was connected to the internet, but the ddyns function on the router couldn't connect to the internet, as well as any devices on my network. So I took my router out of the picture and connected directly to cable modem. I got connected to internet, but speed is way down, less than 10 Mbps against start server, I always hit 60 Mbps. I tried my laptop directly to modem, same slow speeds.
I tried sticking an old linksys router in so I can share my slow connection, but this other router was also unable to share my connection.
I know these two issues kind of seem unrelated, but it happened at same time, and now two routers are displaying the same problems.
I have reset cablemodem at least 3 times with no improvement.
Another weird thing is I just checked my usage, and it is way down, it says 36.1 gigs used, i was over 200 last time i looked yesterday.

I see you have a ticket in, signals look good but we'll wait to see what Cogeco has to say. They are pretty quick at confirming any local issues.
If so, switching from one router to laptop to another router will cause problems, see number 3 here:

Something else is up too though..

My only comments are that several years ago, reading the posts about TekSavvy look like reading the posts about Start today.
I'm not saying that Start will proceed down the same path as TekSavvy, but that there are enough things that can happen outside the control of the ISP to seriously besmirch a good reputation, and the bigger you get the harder they are to manage.
Re: [rCable] Youtube starting to slow down during peak hours
said by jonbon:Yep I've been using YT center for years, disabled DASH as soon as it came out.
It could be the dash playback, that youtube has set up, where it only loads a few seconds or so, at a time. if you download youtube center, it'll have an option to disable dash playback, where it will load the whole video, even when you pause

Re: Start: New Installation?
said by DavePC:it might take a few hours after the tech leaves. after he's done he will mark it in his system and it will be provisioned sometime after he leaves.
thought so, I'll wait until tomorrows tech visit.

Re: Start: New Installation?
said by DavePC:It varies I think. Sometimes it's minutes, sometimes it's a couple of hours. I've had both occur. The last time (current connection) it was up as soon as he connected the cable and powered up the modem.
interesting, last time when Start was installed at my house, the Rogers tech just did something at the Demarc box (rogers box outside of my house, I think), and I was up within minutes.
I've picked on Cogeco long enough. Who's next? Any volunteers?
Need an new router. Hey.
I have 25/2 with Start, and I need a new wireless router.
I would prefer something with basement to upstairs coverage (good-medium signal is good enough), router is being placed on ground floor, far end of the house.
Any good recommendations under $100?
Around $60-$70 would be best.
I don't care about the firmware, as long as it works I'm fine.
