I have had PP since Nov. 2012. It was great until the beginning of April 2013. Since then I have not been able to call my local numbers in xxx-278-xxxx with any kind of consistency. ALL other outgoing calls and features work fine as well as all incoming calls. Any calls outgoing to 278 local code call results in messages from "invalid routing call contact your phone provider", dead air, ringing 4 or 5 times then dead air etc. After 16 or 18 e-mails and attempts with T2 techs I have resolved the problem going back to TIME WARNER phone for $20 a month just to call local codes in the xxx-278-xxxx, sucks but what can I do. Still keeping PP for all the other goodies which are great plus not giving up and losing my 2 year paid up front fees. ! Anyone else have something like this problem. i.e. calling into a Frontier system with voip?
What!? If you're paying for PP service, then call in, it's faster. Don't start to pay another 20$ if you already have PP. As I can tell, you have a routing issue. Call in, they'll run some tests. They'll work on their end for about 3-4 days, then call you back and re test.
Well after a year of PP not working for outgoing calls reliably I am trying to cancel and let them keep the up front $280 as I just got an email stating they will be charging ANOTHER $58.00 for the second year. Let me see, my $5 a month has cost me $14.16 a month for the 2 year deal.... or $28 for my 1 year of not using it as I went back to Time Warner phone back in April for $20 / month and it works GREAT and no long distance for my neighbors to call me. YES! The first few months of PP was good and then it stopped as mentioned above. "invalid routing call contact your phone provider" nonsense evey few days. Not worth the hassle.
I'm having trouble with one phone number not being blocked. It is 877-503-6145 which shows up as Fingerhut. I have nothing to do with them yet they call every couple of weeks. I have tried blocking it several ways.
In the ICM I have a custom block set with several rules.
1 - I have it entered as part of a telemarketer contact group and then have that group blocked (reject the call) as a rule. 2 - I have added another rule for 877* to my rule set that should catch ALL 877-xxx-xxxx numbers. 3 - I have added the actual number (877-503-6145) as a rule to block that number.
So, I have 3 rules in my ICM rule set that should block this number but it still rings through.
Try putting the number at a higher place, eg. Lets say the rule is all the way at the bottom, then put it up higher. Also delete all the other "wild cards" for 877* .. This might also cause a conflict. Just have one way to block it and put it up higher in the rule.
I'll try that. I did send an email to PP support and they replied that that would "love" to help me solve my issue and to just call them. I replied that I did not see a reason to call as I stated everything I knew and could do to block the number. They needed to check their logs and see why it keeps getting passed through.
They re-replied and said ICM was still beta (like a year now I think) but that they did tweak the rules settings.
If they call again it'll be about 2 weeks before I know if anything worked or not. -- Certified Jenius!
Just have to say that I was in Europe in August and the PhonePower android app was wonderful for free calling back to the states.
I have a T-Mobile cellphone which also has free wi-fi calling with their proprietary app. That app, however, often does not activate unless the wi-fi signal is super strong. The PhonePower app had no such problem. So most of my calls were with PP and it was great.
I wasn't even aware of this PP ability until I started researching prior to my trip. Thanks PhonePower for another valuable service and making my annual payment to you even more cost effective.
We just recently released a new version of the Android app which addresses some of the interface issues and glitches. We are looking at a much shorter development time frame for the app so we can start addressing some of the feature requests & corner case bugs.
The support staff has started to add more videos to our much neglected Youtube channel. We will be adding 1-3 videos per week depending on the nature of the video. We are also open to suggestions regarding the videos that you the user would like to see.
I have to call my home landline (PhonePower) several times a day from work. I use my cellphone but it burns up minutes on my calling plan. I have the PhonePower app on my velphone but when I use to call my home number it appears to use the cell service, not VOIP. Which, in a way makes sense but I am wondering if there is a magic setting on the android app that would call my home using VOIP? For example, call into line 2? Thanks appreciated.
I'm receiving SIP error 488 when attempting to send faxes using my Zoiper Biz client connected to my PhonePower service. I know PhonePower says they're T.38 compliant, but I can't seem to get this to work. Am I missing some configuration setting in my SIP account setup?
Unable to answer incoming calls using PhonePower Softphone
Since I installed the softphone, I have been unable to answer incoming calls on my PC. If I click the button to answer the call, it briefly says "Established" in the call window but then disconnects the call. Am I missing a firewall port setting or some protocol configuration?
