ata callerid - only six digits - why?

I make calls not to just the pstn, but direct sip to sip sometimes and conferences. I need my ata set to submit callerid as my real did number simply because I don't want my account number scattered around in public, and of course I like my real number there anyways. But, f9 currently rejects any call attempt that does not have my six digit account number as callerid from my ata. I am kind of stuck as I can only have my ata configured one way or the other. It should be seemless as the last voip providers I have ever purchased minutes from didn't care what callerid string the ata sends. The only thing f9 does right now is replace the six digit number before it goes out to the pstn with the hard coded did number I've provided. But why does it *have* to be the 6 digit account number? Why can't I just put in 10 digits and you replace it with the hard coded number anyways? This blocking seems so completely unessessery. It shouldn't affect authentication as the normal user/pass is still used to login and registration.

Ok, the reason I being a little "hard" with this post is that I tried to contact f9 support direct via email, and he/they do not even understand that the ata does indeed send a sip based callerid string. I am not demanding this to be changed immediately, only as consideration for future upgrades as a "suggestion box" type of request. But of course he/they haven't got that far of a suggestion after 4 email exchanges and just stopped replying to my emails. Now anyone can go look at the f9 website and see that they welcome feature requests?

Plan Details

Can anyone point me to a plain English explanation of how F9's residential plans work? Their web site is really confusing. I want to be able to figure what I'd pay at various call levels (500 / mo, 1000/mo, etc.) and the web site simply does not provide the details on the plans.

The PAYG plan says "Month-to-Month Price: FREE" but also says "US Phone Number: $5/month ($5 setup)". How can ya use the service if ya don't have a phone number?
