bj9030 join:2000-08-27 Palm Desert, CA | Now that Time Warner cable has decided to continue with the foolishness of caps, coupled with their famous crappy service, and their separation from Time Warner Inc's bottomless money pit, Tte quality of the service has no where to go but downhill from it's already crappy standard. This, coupled with the impending loss of customers, due to this idiocy, will be the start of their downfall. There is no one to blame, except the management and leadership itself. Way to go Time Warner Cable !

| | I've noticed TWC cable service DHCP lease time on my WAN interface is only 10 minutes. Anyone else noticing this? Couple times a day my connection will hand when it's trying to renew and it's getting annoying. | |

shakira6 join:2009-06-11 North Hollywood, CA | In my area here (North Hollywood) I have seen Time Warner trucks all over the place. Today when arriving home they were in my alley. I asked the guys working and he said they are installing fibre optic line? could this be true? and how much difference do you think this will make?

| | It seems that TW had raised the speeds here in Rochester, NY to 20/1. | |
|
| | | Re: TW Road Runner in Rochester, NY When I do their speed test I get 18.67/0.97, previosly it was about 10/0.35. | |

spq982 join:2010-01-14 Charlotte, NC | I'm in Charlotte, NC and we got a letter from Time Warner that they are changing all of the channel numbers. All of the SD channels are different and to get HD you add a 1 to the front of the channel number.(A lot like at&t U-Verse).
Are they doing this everywhere or just here in Charlotte?
And also, are all of the channels going to change for the TVs not connected to set-top boxes, because it is going to be really confusing to have to remember 2 channel numbers for each channel.

| | Does Time Warner cap their bandwidth in Brooklyn, NY?
I found this on Wikipedia:
"The new plan was set to begin in the summer of 2009, however due to protests they had decided against the bandwidth caps. Currently, users have unlimited bandwidth usage."
But I wanted to make absolutely sure before downloading a giant video game on Steam using my roommate's account. I asked by the way, he doesn't know.

| | I just bought a house. YAY! There is no cable running to my home. BOO!!! It was built in 2001 and phone and power lines were buried. I have 3 orange PVC-like pipes running from the pole at street to basement (previous owner who built house ran these for 'future needs (i.e.- power telephone-cable)). Looking at wires on the pole already, there is no cable line or 'tap' as the installer put it going to my pole. He suggested the next pole over (about 100' away) that does have the cable 'tap' on it should have a hard line run to my house underground. Problem is there is an easement which i do not own that would prevent any digging.
Wouldn't it be easier for the cable company to just extend the cable service that is provided to everyone else's homes on the block that comes via a wire strung between the poles to my pole which is at the end of my driveway ~150' away from my house and usse the 'orange PVC-like pipes' to run a cable through?
Is that an option? | |
