powerband internet to play online gaming

Hi people,

Has anyone use powerband to increase dial-up latency to play online gaming such as WoW or Counterstrike?

Dial-up with wireless router?

I want to drop Hughes satellite and go with powerband internet via dial-up. However, I'd like to keep my wireless connection. Is there a router that accepts and external modem? I would need an external modem, right? I don't even have a land line any longer! But I'd get one back for this service!

Re: Dial-up with wireless router?

have you considered Mobile Broadband via Sprint or Verizon? It's way better than using dialup to go to some fast server, because you won't get any better speeds than you would using dialup alone. I've had Hughes, and now I have MBB via Millenicom, a Sprint reseller, and my experience with it is way better than Hughes...see my reviews for more depth on this. Both Sprint and Verizon have mapping services on their websites to show if there is data service in addition to phone service in your area.

Not an ISP

This is a remote desktop service and you can only use it on one computer at a time, basically you are remote connecting to there computer and using there high speed connection.

You are still using your dial-up connection and the speeds would be no faster than before.

In there FAQ they recommend that you get a DSL or cable internet connection to use with there service.

Re: Not an ISP

What exactly would be the point in using your DSL (or cable,or dialup) to get to their server to use their faster (say T3) connection? It's still not going to run any faster than if you used your connection to go to whatever site you want. A chain is no stronger than it's weakest link, and if your connection is slower than their "whatever they have," that's what will limit the speed.
