What is Verizon FIOS Digital Voice? is it Verizons VOIP

Hi,
I am planning to get Fios Triple play with Verizon FIOS Digital Voice and wanted to know what the advantages were compared to verizons freedom phone service. Is It and VIOP? If Yes are there any Taxes on It? I am currently using Optimum triple play and pay no taxes on the phone service.

borg - VZ FIOS DV is VOIP. Most likely your services will be provided through an MG9K Media Application Server. This is a lightly regulated offering, so there are probably taxes, but I don't deal with tariffs so I can't shed any light on that.
