Re: Anyone Else?

I'm also using Speedsite, but I'm looking to go to Cable or another DSL vendor due to Speedsite raising their price for a 1500/512 connection. When I was with IWC, it use to only cost me about $50/month for the same connection. Now it's about $90/month.

FYI: I get around 1400 down and 450 up

@speedsite.com
yea, the whole thing has me pretty mad. It's not like anything changed, they just raised the price for the same ole stuff. I use them only because I don't have a regular phone line, just DSL. For less money I can get the same level of service, or for the same money I can get much better offerings. All I can say is SBC will steamroll right over them and leave them flat, just like Wile E. Coyote in the Roadrunner cartoons.

Re: SpeedSite Mail & Home Web Page Server down?

Update: I just tried it and Speedsite's mail server and home page are now working. Not sure how long they were down, but it was for at least 4 hours (Feb 16 10pm to 2am).

Focal migration

Well, I'm a former IWC customer who got sold to SpeedSite. Now SpeedSite is migrating my circuit to WorldCom. Trouble is, if i could get WorldCom (or Covad) I wouldn't be with SpeedSite (I keep getting denied). Should be interesting.

Re: Focal migration

We were migrated a couple of weeks ago, and have had nothing but trouble. Their support is unattentive and unresponsive. Our 1500/512 dsl line is doing about 300/150, if lucky! Emailing tech support has turned into a waste of time. Anybody else think these guys stink?

Yea, I had the same problem with speed and dropped them after failing to get information from tech support...it was not the bad quality of the connection, it was the lack of information from tech support that got me to leave. I'm waiting to get reconnected again. BritSys offers the exact same package for 49 dollars a month-1500/768, free modem, 99 bucks to install. The 99 fee will be paid for in 2 months, given their drastically lower rates.
Speedsite will be gone within a year.

Re: Focal migration

My not-for-profit ISP Coop was a Focal customer, and Speedsite was the only viable option for a quick, short-term replacement for the Focal ADSL to ATM connection.

As luck would have it, everybody in the Co-op except me has survived the transition reasonably well, with most members getting at least as good throughput via SpeedSite as they had with Focal.

I was getting 460-512Kbps on Focal with a "dry pair", after the SBC installation finally went through, my pre-existing POTS line just barely supported 160Kbps... for about three days, after which SBC killed the new DSL order.

Apparently, since the circuit wasn't up to their standards, SBC and/or SpeedSite (plenty of blame to go around here) chose to instead kill off my Internet connectivity entirely.

I'll try posting my tale of woe to the SBC forum, perhaps I can get some assistance from SBC where SpeedSite has failed.
