zhonka join:2003-03-23 Olympia, WA | Get back to service from those you know and trust! Zhonka.Net is the name of the new DSL provider started by the former OlyWa.Net crew!
Zhonka.Net is the Northwest's Premier Provider of DSL Internet access. The friendly folks at Zhonka.Net have been providing premier DSL access since Qwest rolled out service in 1998 with a superior committment to quality and speed.
We offer unmetered accounts, static IP addressing, and our generous usage policies encourage you to use your dedicated connection for hosting/servers, etc. This policy, and Zhonka.Net's superb NW backbone makes Zhonka.Net's DSL service the best choice for small business and home broadband access across the Pacific NW.
Zhonka.Net also has a wide array of value-added service including web-hosting, server co-location Frame-Relay, ATM and Point-to-Point high-speed connectivity.
Zhonka.Net is the new provider created by the founders of the former OlyWa.Net. We offer the premier service you remember!
| | | zhonka.net down? Haven't had an internet connection since yesterday (06/17/08) and their home page and webmail sites are down...anyone having the same issue or know what's going on? | |
| | | Zhonka.net orphaned!? I noticed that the credit-card auto-pay system hasn't paid my bill since November of last year. While my DSL Internet service has been up and working perfectly, I have not been able to get a hold of anybody about the issue for the past two months. They haven't replied to any e-mails, answered their phones, or returned voice messages. Now when I call their phone support, it says their voice mail box is full.
I hope everything gets resolved! I'd hate to see Zhonka.net go!
| | | News on Zhonka, 2010/03/17 I was doing a web search and I found this: »olyblog.net/zhonka-0
Copy & paste of their reply: Dave left to move back to Canada five years ago. We tried to continue on, but our technician died tragically (at the age of 33) this spring.
I know the service and response has sucked increasingly over the past couple of years. All attempts to resolve this have failed, and I've finally decided to make sure that all DSL customers retain connectivity by switching roles with one of our wholesale customers. The DSL circuit switch is complete, so if you have Zhonka DSL and are having troubles, please call and leave a message. We *are* listening to them and trying to get any straggling accounts that are experiencing problems working again.
FWIW, we tried really hard, but never got enough traction to self-sustain, and with the failure of the Telecommunications act of 1996 (Thanks to George Bush's FCC who defines internet access competition as "one phone company, one cable company",) it was impossible for us to continue.
Again, I apologize for the crappy service some of you have received. I had to take a job to pay my mortgage, and there is basically no-one left to do the work, which is why we've switched all customers over to TelebyteNW (another "semi"-local ISP based in Bremerton,) who deserve the chance to keep your business. I suspect you'll get much better response now that the switch is almost complete.
So, having said that, if you got crappy service from Zhonka, I'll buy you a beer. If you were charged incorrectly (for service that was not rendered), I'll work to get it refunded. If you are still a customer and your CC was charged a large amount, because you hadn't been charged for some time, I'll refund some of it.
FYI, we're still supporting Olyblog, at the cost of about $75/month for server hosting, and will continue to do so under whatever banner / entity ends up carrying on the VSP business we have.
As DaveO would say, "Keep your beverages cool, chillax, and keep on chooglin'"

| | 1 edit | Re: News on Zhonka, 2010/03/17 I can verify this. As far as I can tell, zhonka.net is essentially no more. All zhonka customers are now Telebyte NW customers. Apparently zhonka dropped the ball on handing off their customers to Telebyte, so if you're a zhonka.net customer, I would HIGHLY recommend calling Telebyte and verifying your account and billing info! Don't call zhonka. There is no one there. They were suppose to forward their phone to Telebyte, but never did. :/
