    PSN on track

A message for all who read DSLreports both providers and subscribers. I signed up with PSN after 3 months of bad experience with PhoenixDSL. PSN gained my respect and is doing so continuiously. My rep Tone Sharfner was personable and a pleasure talking and working with. In fact PSN has sent a status of my order that reflects to me they're TCB (taking care of business)! Right up front with delivering my dial-up cd and setting up my dial-up account. Never had it so easy. All info needed listed right on PSN web page and in CD mailed to me. I'm up on dial-up now till I get the DSL line. More to come...readers, take a look at PSN. Their people seem to be service minded!

    Initial sign-up date: March 28th
    Follow-up status: April 10th

    Re: PSN on track

Yes, their pre-install sales pitch is very good...but that's about all. Good luck trying to get ahold of them when something goes wrong. Remeber that contract you signed that said "no refunds?" Mary, the provisioning manager is on an eternal coffee break. I've had my order with them since March 1. Tomorrow is my own personal D-Day with PSN.

Yeah, right on track.... with a dial-up. I got the CD too, that was 2 months ago. Hope you hear from them again. Please post your review then!
Anon Well I just talked with Tone, To cancel my DSL account( and I have only been up and running one day), he never asked why or how can he help to clear up the problem, all he did was say he sent the e-mail and hung up the phone in my ear.
If you talk to northpoint and tell them you are having a problem with an ISP 99 time out of 100 they will know it is PSN before you tell them.
Anon How can PSN be ON TRACK ??
If you can not get to them on the phone because the phone is busy, they dont return e-mails and they don't answer fax's. I have called approx 80 times in the last 4 days and have gotten through 5 times - 1 time on hold for 45 min., then voice mail (no return call) three times I gave up after 70 min on hold, and once got to a person and canceled my service, they then recharged my credit card. They do not reply to e-mails or fax's

    Great Service

PSN net installed SDSL into my house 2 weeks ago. Since then I have received exactly speeds both upload and download. They installed quickly and got me up and running as soon as possible. The service reps. were friendly and knowledgable. Overall, PSN.net was a good choice and provides reliable DSL.

PSN not teamed with Network Access Solutions

PSN Internet Service is no longer teamed with Network Access Solutions. Any pricing information from Network Access Solutions is incorrect.

Sold me SDSL in an area they can't

They sold me SDSL in Orlando,FL and now I find out from Northpoint that they can't. They are a bunch or scam artists here and at Teliquest.

    Getting Nervous

After my inquiry as to when my DSL would be installed, I received a "form" email saying that my DSL install was ordered via my local phone company. The email contained the wrong order number and the wrong date of initial order; I have called and emailed PSN several times with no call backs. I am getting nervous. Surely there must be more people out there with positive PSN stories.
    Anon

    Re: Getting Nervous

Don't count on it. Only positive stories have been so day/night to the majority of stories, that you have to suspect the source.

Almost There, still waiting for Northpoint

Well I'm almost there, I've got good pricing (we'll see if this is real) for 784k/392k, I've managed to get their xpeed 320 (no manual no docs) and Bell Atlantic made me wait all freakin day to show up and see Yes indeed you have a box with a second line, let's call northpoint and do an open/short test. So now, I did my own IW (like it's a big deal to hook the bridge to the box) and Northpoint only needs to approve. Do they have to come into my house???

    Some Positive News

Spoke with Veronica and Tammy from PSN yesterday. I have been waiting a month for DSL. They were very friendly. They made phone calls to Northpoint and Ameritech. They called me back and emailed me. Still do not have a DSL yet. Buts its nice to hear from humans. Seems like PSN is trying to get their act together. Will update. MK

    HELP ME!!!!

I ordered my DSL service over a month ago. I was told the second line would take approx. 4-6 weeks. I called the retention unit and they told me that they'd email me with the link to the service update page along with my order number. Well it's been over a week and I still haven't recieved this email. So while I still have some time I'm going to give them till the end of the month before I cancel and dispute the charge on my credit card. But in the mean time can anyone help? I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

    Re: HELP ME!!!! Update

Well it's now June 16th. Surprisingly I recieved a call on June 9th from PSN telling me that Bell Atlantic was coming on the 12th to do the outside wiring between the hours of 8AM-5PM. Then on Sat. June 10th Northpoint called me as well to let me know that Bell Atlantic was coming on the 12th. I was especially surprised to find out that PSN called me.
The BA tech came into the apart. since I guess he thought he was supposed to run the 2nd line into the house but that's a different story.
So I waited the 48 hours that PSN told me was needed to find out if the line was DSL ready. On 6/14 I called the provisioning dept and waited 45 min. before I was transferred to voicemail(like usual) so I left a message stating that Bell Atlantic was at my apart on Monday and I wanted to know the inside wiring date and equipment setup. Well to this date I still have no return call from PSN. But after leaving the message with PSN I called up NorthPoint cust. serv. and they gave me the # to the inside wiring dept. =) (yes, I'm happy with NorthPoint) They gave me an inside wiring date of 6/17 between the hours of 8AM-12PM so I'll be waiting. But this was only done because I made the phone calls. But at least NorthPoint is coming out tom to do the inside wiring. So I'll keep everyone updated.

    Avoid PSN!

I have had very poor luck with PSN. Their customer service is VERY poor. I have waited on hold for over an hour and the covad technician intalling my dsl had to wait on hold for over an hour. On top of that, I'm only connecting at 15kbs. That's pathetic when I was promised 784/392k. I have run some diagnostics on the network and all of the problems are on the psn network and not covad. Oh yea, their gateway routinely goes down.

Not as bad as I feared

I signed up for PSN w/Northpoint a little over a month ago ($38/month, 3 months free, static ip 784/392kbps, free sdsl modem, $250 installation fee (rebated after connected), no contract) because they didn't require a contact. The modem came quickly by air mail, and the jack was installed quickly. There were some initial problems getting me built correctly on thier systems at both PSN and Northpoint. But, the tech support were friendly and helpful (espcially Jason) (though a bit overworked because they are understaffed, so be ready for a long wait on hold) and once I was built correctly it turned out the modem was defective, but a installation tech came out replaced the modem and verified the connection quality.

Now I up and running and very happy with the connection. I have to admit I was put on guard by some of the negative customer experiences posted. And having to give them $250 up front to be rebated afterwards was a bit strange. But, now that I'm up and running I'm happy. Let's just see how long it take the rebate to come in the mail for my final evaluation.
    Anon

Re: Not as bad as I feared

Have you received the rebate yet ?
Anon Don't fret! If you've already received a confirmation email from Northpoint, then within 30 days of your being online, you should receive the rebate. In the meantime, enjoy DSL surfin'.

    @bms.com

It will get bad - dont worry

I got my DSL through PSN/northpoint about 45 days ago and I havent received my rebate.

I emailed PSN and Northpoint and northpoint actually wrote me back and said that i would get it by the end of October.

That is a bit off from the promised 30 days, more like 90.....If I ever even see it!

    Good News

I am very satisified with PSN. They are obviously extremely busy as are most DSL providers. The line was often busy, but when I got through and left messages with persons, I received a phone call back within about 24 hours. I received my DSL line in about 5 weeks, including problems with my local telco. My DSL line is blazing fast. I am getting almost T1 speed/results (its nice to live 400 feet from a CO) for $39/month. On a scale 1 to 5, I would give PSN 4.5. They would get a 5 if they had better telephone system and faster personnel availability.

    PSN SUCKS

No one answers your call at Provisioning department, no one replies to emails sent to install@psn.net. They charge you up front, Cliff Scalco doesn't respond to email, all he is interested in is to get you to signup, get your credit card number and good bye.. I had to go through my credit card company to file a complaint and have the charges reversed

    Service Has Been Good

I ordered DSL and received it in just over 5 weeks. I had some installation problems and I left messages with customer support; Customer support had technical support call me back within about 6 hours. The staff at PSN is outstanding. The staff workers continually apologize for the delays in communication. They explain that they are just "swamped" with work. I have been very satisified with the DSL service from PSN. I want to thank Luke and Tammy for their support. If anyone out there is considering DSL, PSN is a good choice, providing you have patience. If PSN could hire the people it needed, it would be an A++ company.

PSN is the worst ISP in the business just read all these reports do you think they are made up? I sure doubt it
PSN SUCKS WIND and the BBB of Arizona knows this. Go to better business bureau and they'll send you info on how bad PSN really is.

Re: My Service Has Not Been Terrible

Eh - why are you so bitter. Try the friendly friendly approach. I have PSN, have had a few service problems and get them resolved quickly by charming the support staff.

I work with Networking technology and this stuff is very complex. Remember, PSN is like a computer dealer they need the support of the network provider for anything more complex than simple issues.

Re: My Service Has Not Been Terrible

Listen, you can't fool anyone here, just look at all the PSN messages, tell me why we should believe you?
Take a look at the Better Business Bureau as well!
You going to tell me that they too are making this up???
Tammy NEVER called me back once nor did Luke , Sabrina, Tone, or anyone there!
Phone is always busy and no return calls hmmmm!!
A company that quickly takes your money before servicing you then no longer cares about you should NOT be in business.
PSN has no customer service whatsoever just re read all the posts here and again ask yourself why we should believe you?
PS. don't try the bitter crap with me cause it won't work. I speak fact NOT fiction
Anon What service are you referring to Internet Service or Customer Service. Try waiting on hold for 3.5 hours sometime. In 8 weeks of dealing with these people I have been on hold nearly 20 hours...I bill by the hour--$95 per...Whom do you suggest I send my bill too???

I canceled my account with PSN and they charged my credit card again with another 379.00 just like the first time.

    NO LINK ON THE BRIDGE.

I waited over 3 Months to get my dsl from PSN.NET,
each pointing fingers to see whos messedup..

I'm tired of this.. Bellatlantic worked on the outside wiring, he said it works. Then by saturday Northpoint contractor came in, he was nice, he did the inside wiring, he double checked outside if i get a signal, but i still got no link.. so he blamed northpoint to get my port working.

I called PSN.NET technicial support line.. waited over 2 hrs!!!! must be crazy.. i believe they only have 2-3 techicians working.. once i got hold of the tech, in 2-3 mins im out.. WTF!.. then they blame northpoint.. argh..

i bet by monday i still wont be see that green light LINK up.

    Don't even think about it

The customer service was not good since from the very beginning. When I sign up for residential DSL service, there was no call from PSN.NET and with the help from NorthPointDSL, the manager from PSN.NET call me finally. He asked my personal info and Credit card number in hurry. He answered my question in short. ( no sign of customer service skill )
Last week, there was technician for digital wire installation, but I have not receive my DSL modem yet. Fortunately, technician brought a DSL modem. But he cannot install inside digital wire. Technicain left me with a wire from outside phone box to my modem thru the window and a DSL modem. I configured my own NIC with the DNS and IP info they provided. Then I had to call PSN.NET to activate my new account. I call at 7:00 PM on Saturday night and the system message said there were 10 callers ahead of me. I put my call on speaker phone and did my laundry, prepared dinner. Finally human answered my call at 10:30 PM. The tech support did not know what he's doing and keep asking the other guy all the time. Finally he told me that tier 2 tech will call me back within 1 businessday. Three hours and thirty minutes waiting for the Tech Support just to hear they cannot help.
Everything I said were my experience with PSN.NET, all are true info and I like to warn those of you who consider PSN.NET to be your ISP. STAY AWAY FROM PSN.NET WHILE YOU CAN. THEY ARE REALLY SUCK. 3 HOURS HOLDING FOR TECH SUPPORT IS REALLY @#&*.

    WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STAY AWAY FROM PSN.NET

    Here's my PSN experience.
I ordered a line on 04/24/00 with Mr.Tone Sharfner who was the nicest person in the world as he tried to get me to order the line. Shoot he would call me within SECONDS when I called to voice mail or dropped an e-mail.
    Then it began:
04/29/00 After Mr. Sharfners 3rd phone call to me (see how he only calls when he needs your money) I finally said OK and gave him the OK for the order. He quickly charged my credit card for the service which was supposed to be FREE (yes mom taught me that nothing is free) then refunded with a rebate which is total BULL$h!t as it is from Northpoint NOT PSN.
Tone, where are you now? Since you took my money no more calls to me with status, no more calls joking about the family or any other matter involing my order. When I call Mr. Sharfner calls NOW go straight to voice with NO RETURNED PHONE CALLS. I finally get hold of him and he now tells me to deal with Sabrina who must be his puppet on a string because she will BS you all day long with promises that will never come true.
    The funny part:
Local telco came out on 05/18 but how would I know as no one called me to let me know, rescheduled for 05/28 no one shows up, they reschedule for 06/06 they tell me they will return to finish but never return. I call PSN like crazy ALL WEEK LONG AND NOT ONE RETURN PHONE CALL IN 7 DAYS!!!!! Not good customer service at all!
I call Northpoint to find out they scheduled a date on 06/15 then asked to switch to saturday they say we'll get back to you if it can be done.
No phone calls lead me to believe no saturday date yet as I'm arriving at my home the telco truck is pulling away I stop him and ask if he was here for me and he answers yes but he already called it in to Northpoint and had to now leave to his next stop saying they are going to return monday.
I call PSN net 5 times that day and you will be lucky to reach anyone at all because their lines are busy 6-7 hours out of a 10 hour day and if you get lucky and hear it ring don't hold your breath as you'll be on hold for a good 20-30 minutes with either a recording saying to leave a message or sabrina will answer and tell you nothing as her computer is never working when you call.... funny how my computer never failed me yet... but this companies computers are down daily.
Well I finally woke up and cancelled the order with PSN and will go with time warner cable as they WILL give me customer support that I the paying customer deserve.
Call PSN at any time to see if you can get through, you see that you cannot. Call Tone at 1-800-887-9897 ext 2078 and see if he answers or even try Sabrina at 2076 or better yet if you have nothing to do with your time sit on hold for a good 45 minutes with the famous option 8 for customer service which does NOT serve the customer.
    Last:
What kind of company is this that has complaints up the wahzoo just go to the better business bureau and they will give you a bunch of info on dealing with these folks who charge your CC# before any service is given charge you 250.00 for a line... WHY it's NORTHPOINTS LINE NOT PSN'S.
They then invest your money so they can grow while you sit and wait for a phone call.... oh yeah it ain't coming.
Bottom line is anyone who ignores this board which is a long list of complaints against PSN and orders from them will get what they deserve NOTHING!
Regards from a disgruntled DSL subscriber
PS. Tone tell us how DSL is a privilege!!!!!
I promise to make sure that I post in everymessage board regarding PSN and their terrible service so others do not make the fatal mistake I have.
    PPS:
To others who claim PSN is great and all they have is a dial up CD are full of it as that has nothing at all to do with their DSL service.. if that's what you call it.

Re: WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STAY AWAY FROM PSN.NET

    Here Here,
Congratulations, someone woke up to see that cable is a good thing. bad dsl service is widespread. I myself am a dsl tech for a major ISP (begins with Bell, ends with Atlantic anyway. I am much more happier with my cable modem than I ever was with my free corporate dsl line. Hail to Mediaone.

Those of us who know the disadvantages of cable also know the larger disadvantages of DSL....
