Do NOT Do DSL Through WorldLink!!

I only hope I can convey this message through this story...

I paid for 768/768 Connection through worldlink for a time, running Linux. The Connection itself was working great, and I was learning linux quiet well using the fast internet connection, until I recieved an e-mail which was a letter of termination saying I was running a Server on there network. I then quickly learned about the /etc/services file and inetd.conf and explained my ignorance to them....

Unfortunetly for them, I also started looking at my connection logs, and found that once a week prior to this e-mail they had been port scanning me, and trying to logon to my telnet port using guest/anonymous/root/nobody as a logon!

This to me is called Hacking, something that when I asked them, they tried to find an excuse for, but Please Please Please do yourself a favor, if you are looking for relyable, secure DSL do not get it through these half-wit hackers!!

Those of you who do have DSL through them, I suggest you install a Firewall ASAP, and block connection attempts from the computer known as FRODO.W-LINK.NET

If you run Linux look at your logs, you will see them!

If you run windows install a firewall and watch how they will port scan you! This is an invasion of privacy! and for you ppl who run windows, They do scan the NetBios port, so if you have File & Printsharing installed (which hopefully you don't either way), they have access to your Files!

So in Closeing Please Please Please, do Not get DSL from these Hackers, unless you dont care about your own privacy and security!

I wouldn't recommend them for colocation either.

I've been a customer of Worldlink's for several years. They've had their problems, but I was lenient. They didn't meet their uptime guarantees, and wouldn't honor their agreement, but I wasn't going to fight over single pro-rated days (or even a week that I was down once). They take days to respond to "emergency" reboot requests.

But the real kicker... I've had enough. I decided I want to move to another company:
THEY WON'T LET ME IN TO GET MY COMPUTER!

Stay away from these thieves.
