| Anon | INYC doesn't own their internet connections! Well, I've been duped into a 2 year contract with INYC. They falsly claim they have high speed access, when in fact they don't own any of the of their internet connections. They are merely resellers of other companies' networks. They don't mention this on their website. This is false advertising. ON my contract I was supposed to get Web Space, it's be a few months now and they haven't set it up. My connection is slow as hell because I'm using a company call fastpoint.net. I get constant packet loss, and get this! Their pricing scheme has changed, and they have failed to notify their customers.
This ISP is total bull shit. It's like their a franchise, but they don't even tell you that they are. They make claims that they are connected to 3 backbones, yeah right!
I've contacted the better business bureau and I'll probably take them to court if they fail to cancel my contract. I'm not paying any fees for this bullshit service. I had better service, in terms of bandwidth when I was using ISDN.
This sucks.
They should make it clear on their website they you'll never get what you paid for because they ar "backhauling"!
| | | Anon | Re: INYC doesn't own their internet connections! Strange. Altho they do resell their connections they are building their own. My service with them has been great.. pings are always 10ms . I am not on fastpoint tho.. | |
| | Anon | INYC was good for me before it stopped working My DSL was installed on March 26th. INYC dragged their feet a little,not getting me online until 2 days later. Its was another few days until my e-mail was set up and I found out about news. And this was due to my persistence. I should have realized then what the future could be like. My first couple of weeks were great, so I canceled my secondary phone line for my computer. Two days later my connection is dead. I have been calling everyday to check on the status and all I would hear is that they are working on it and I'll call you back. Guess what, they dont call back. After being down for eight days now, I am waiting to hear from the VP of sales about an appointment with Northpoint. Something I feel should have been set up after they couldn't find the problem in three days. I have started looking for another ISP and if I find one before I am online again...BYE BYE INYC..I am definitely not satisfied with the way an outtage is handled. | |

The first 6 weeks of iNYC / Northpoint was a completely dead line. iNYC does not give enough information to determine who is really to blame. I know that sometimes it is them but Northpoint gets the blame. I tried calling Northpoint to let them know I was pissed, but its not their problem, it it... I'm getting the run around about recompensation for the 6 weeks of no service. Currently it is up, but it spent two days down just before this. Mail server is down right now too.

@209.208.x.x
| I finally have my 2Mbps SDSL service from iNYC. In summary, it rocks!
Now, it did take Bell Atlantic (now Verizon) almost three months to get my pair straightened out. But once that was done, NAS (the CLEC) was here two days later, and the same afternoon I had service!
Their peering with UUnet in NYC is excellent, and I'm getting the full bandwidth, at least between here and work (work is on UUnet). I hope it stays that way!
