DIR-655 only allow 140 HTTP requests per second

I run a web server behind my DIR-655 and while running some stress tests i maxed out at 140 requests per second. The HTTP server is sleeping at 5-10% CPU load.

If I use the internal IP of the server I can get 800 reqs/s (my server can not handle more) but trough my public IP it is 140 or less.

Is there anything I can do to improve this? I choose the DIR-655 for its ability to do 277 MBit/s troughput. 140 req/s is less than 1 Mbit/s.

[Help Me] DIR-655 Rebooting every 15 seconds

Hi All,

I know there's a related topic, but I'm currently unregistered, so I can't reply to it.

Anyway, I've had a DIR-655 a little over a year, and as soon as I upgraded to the 1.20 firmware, it's been stuck in a reset loop. D-Link, after an hour on the phone, informed me there's nothing they can do because I've had it over a year. I understand this, but given that their firmware release triggered the problem, it's still pretty frustrating.

Now, before I upgraded the firmware, I had been having occasional problems where I would have to power down the router for 10+ minutes. I had been having quite a few of these in the past few days, which is why I decided to upgrade the firmware again.

I'm going to investigate the heat level, and the power supply, as those things were suggested in the other thread. Any more ideas?

Thanks,

Passive

[Rant] D-Link tries not to warranty power adapters for their rou

I find that D-Link power adapters, AC plugs, whatever you call them often fail compared to the competition. I'm a reseller and called D-Link tech support for a customer I sold an EBR-2310 to a year or so back. (The reseller option on their phone system didn't work today, by the way).

After a 20 minute(!) wait:

Me: "Hi, I have an EBR-2310 here and the power adapter is faulty."

D-Link: "What's the problem with your EBR-2310?"

Me: "The unit doesn't power up."

D-Link: "What is the problem with your EBR-2310?"

Me: " ... " [pause, breath] "The power adapter, that plugs into the wall. It doesn't work. I tested with another one, from a working unit, and it doesn't work. The unit doesn't power on, it doesn't work. I need warranty replacement."

D-Link: "Please hold..." [hold 3 minutes] "Sorry, D-Link does not cover warranty of the power adapter you are using, because a D-Link router has its own power adapter. You'll ha..."

Me: "Hold on, hold on! This plug came WITH the unit."

D-Link: "Yes, well, I'm sorry that your router isn't working, but we do not warranty..."

Me: "You don't warranty the power adapters that come with a D-Link router? You just said you did!" [exasperation]

D-Link: "..." [quiet] "Let me speak with my supervisor, please hold" [7 minute hold] "Here is a case number to speak with the next level support..."

[20 minute hold]

So, after all that frustration and skyrocketing blood pressure due to incompetence and poor training, and an excessively long support call (almost an hour!) I finally have a #$*ing email that tells me how to go to their support web page to determine if my unit was under warranty (!!!) Why couldn't that have been done over the phone? Why can't they just ship me a new power adapter? This entire phone call was a damnable waste of time.

D-Link is brutal, and after having experienced their service from a customer's point of view, I'm sure as hell never selling another D-Link product for as long as I live.

DNS-323 NAS - FTP and File Server Inconsistency

Can anyone confirm this issue on a DNS-323 NAS server running v 1.05 firmware?

My DNS-323 shows the correct date and time in the Tools --> Time screen; It is configured to receive time settings from an NTP server. When files are uploaded to the DNS-323 via its built-in FTP server, the files are displayed with the correct creation date and time when viewed from a connected FTP client using the "dir" command. However, if you map a drive letter to the DNS-323 from a Windows system and use Windows explorer to view the directory containing the same uploaded files, the file creation time stamp is off by one hour. Thus I assume the internal DNS-323 Samba server is incorrectly reporting file creation information to the windows client machine.

This must be a bug in the v 1.05 firmware.

I reported it to D-Link but thought I'd post it here to see if others can confirm this behavior on their devices too. I haven't received a response from D-Link yet.

[Help Me] DI-524 strange symbols Connection-specific DNS Suffix

I have an DI-524 H/W B4 with firmware 2.03. I don't know if it's happening because of a power loss, but i do know that it gives me two strange symbols at Connection-specific DNS Suffix by DHCP. With this symbols i can't ping hostname, if i ping ips, it work ok, but not machine's hostname. I've saw the symbols at "LAN Settings -> Domain Name", removed them, worked ok after reboot but next time i tried to ping symbols were back. What could be wrong? This router is attached to a D-Link DSL-500G at bridge mode.

[Help Me] Multiple DIR-655's - best configuration?

I have 2 DIR-655's

Primary downstairs in the office
DHCP on
Connected to 5 port GB switch (D-link) and 3 other devices
FW 1.11

Secondary is upstairs in family room
DHCP off
Several devices connected
FW 1.20

GB Cat5e cable between the two, SSID is the same for both. Both are set up with wireless channel on "auto" and channel width on "20MHz."

All clients use 802.11G, not N

Here's my questions.

What is the best configuration for the best G troughput? If I turn it to "G only" will that be best?

We roam between the two a lot and I am concerned that having both set to the same SSID allows me to roll back and forth without disconnecting and reconnecting (important for my non-tech wife), but sometimes my strength shows ~25% close to the downstairs router. Feels like I might still be connected upstairs....

Any thoughts or inputs are appreciated.
