Tilt shift effect - bulk processor?

Hi All,

Im looking for an application, preferably that runs on a Mac but Windows is fine, or even command line from a Linux box or something, that can apply a tilt shift effect to a bulk lot of images.

Im looking for something that i can use to create simple tilt shift effect movies from a series of stills.

I dont have PhotoShop or CS3/CS4 or anything like that so references to tutorials in how to do it with those apps will be no good to me. :-)

Im talking hundreds of frames, so doing them all by hand will take far too long, so some sort of bulk processor will definitely be required!

Thanks.

Digital photo archiving - anyone use parchive?

I was just reading some of the discussion on a Slashdot article on digital file corruption and saw some comments on writing CDR/DVDR with PAR2 files. After a little digging, I found some information on Parchive over at Wikipedia and a dedicated site for it on Sourceforge.

Has anyone ever used this technology with their digital archives? It seems that with a 20% hit to storage capacity, you can add some extra data recovery capabilities to archives.

I've not used this technology before, so I am wondering how it could be easily implemented on CRD/DVDR media, or some sort of external hard drive.

Better on DX but it has an ugly bokeh. :hmm:

Looking at monolight kits..umbrella vs softbox vs both

Okay...I'm going to ask Santa to bring some lighting equipment on Christmas, but he has said he doesn't have the elves available to research lighting, so I'm throwing it out to everyone here...

I'm looking at the budget monolight kits from various places. They're more than adequate for what I want to do which is learn more about studio lighting. I have willing subjects (a.k.a. my kids). I'm still a little fuzzy as to whether I want umbrellas, softboxes, or both. I'm leaning towards getting two monolights, one umbrella, and one softbox like:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/459064-REG/Impact_VSD160_2KIV_VSD160_Two_Monolight_Kit.html

OR

http://www.adorama.com/FP320K.html with http://www.adorama.com/FP320S2.html

Maybe for kicks, I'll add in http://www.mpex.com/browse.cfm/4,12662.html

Opinions on the umbrella / softbox issue? And does anyone have experience or opinions on these kits?

I recently ordered a lens, UPS did their best to destroy it as you can see.

Thank goodness Cameta Camera packs well.

This is not the first time something like this has happened.
FedEx is head and shoulders above this crap company.
If given a choice....don't use UPS!!

Personally, I hate UPS.

Thanks, had to vent.

Pentax K-7... your opinion?

Anyone bought it? How do you like it, compared to older Pentax models?

Reviews seem to like it, I have pretty much outgrew my K10D... I need better ISO performance, but above all, faster AF... I really hate sometimes how the AF on my K10D is incredibly slow, and since I do a lot of indoor shooting where the only light source is the modeling lights, it can be frustrating.

The fact it records HD would just be icing, I'm basically looking in better ISO performance, faster AF. Reviews say it's faster, I'd like to know from users who actually held it in their hands and experienced the camera!

Thanks!

Beauty Shoot for "Citizen K" Magazine "How Did I Do It?"

Beauty Shoot for "Citizen K" Magazine "How Did I Do It?"

Recently, I received an e-mail from someone who saw my image on my introduction page of my blog, asking "...how did you do it?" I will not include what he speculated, which was actually quite close.

For those of you wishing to participate, I would like you to tell me, what you think I did. I will eventually tell you all the technique I employed for this particular beauty story shot for "Citizen K International".

So, go ahead and tell me what your impressions are. Post your answer on the Forum and on my Blog. That way, everyone who has participated can see all of the responses.

Thanks
Ben
