| I did not have to configure anything. I has napster already running and installed zonealarm. It gave me a dialogue asking whether Napster could have permission to access the Internet and whether this is permanent. Just respond, and you're all "configured"." That was my experience. | |

| Anon | Help with Napster over shared DSL
I can get files fine, but nobody can access my files. Their connections always time out. DSL is coming into another computer and we use Win98's sharing to access the internet through the DSL line. Is this causing my files to be inaccessable? Please email randyminer@yahoo.com Thanks.

| | Anon | Re: Help with Napster over shared DSL Bingo! Your second PC sharing the connection must be on a different subnet. Napster simply can't find its way to your second machines files when connected through your DSL machines IP address. Offhand, I can't think of a way around it. If I think of anything to try, I'll post it.

| You did not mention whether or not you are behind a firewall. Also you did not mention if the other computer can up load Napster music. I installed a router which has a built in firewall. I could not up load music either when I first installed the router. Then I used forward addressing in the router and had it communicate with one of the TCP ports that Napster suggests in their help menu. It now works like a champ. I have two computers networked with ethernet connections and I'm using Windows Me as my O/S. Both computers can now up load to Napster users. Also check to see if you have allowed sharing under the preference option in the Napster program. Good luck. | |

Considering all the bad publicity with Napster, I would considering testing out scour, it's still in beta modes but it seems to work well for me... I've heard only one complaint about it... after a long period of use (one two hour session or so) it seems to suck up a lot of your systems resources more so than general downloading. -- "Heads I win, tails you lose, outta my way, I'm commin' through"
