EarthLink's caps & SSL on its newsgroup/usenet service?

Hello.

I hope this is the proper place to ask these two questinos since there is no EarthLink dial-up forum. Does EarthLink's dial-up users (Experience account) have any limitations/caps on downloading binaries? And is there encrypted SSL connection?

Thank you in advance. :)

[TW] Proof that they ban p2p, long usages of online gaming

So Earthlink has hidden rules against people that hog the bandwidth they pay for.

So if your sharing something legal for too much your cable can be disconnected.

AUP:

Long Connections and Multiple Logins. Using a personal account for high volume or commercial use is prohibited. The Services are intended for periodic, active use of email, newsgroups, file transfers, Internet chat, games, and browsing the World Wide Web. Members may stay connected so long as they are actively using that connection for the above purposes. Members may not use the Services on a standby or inactive basis in order to maintain a connection. Pinging is expressly prohibited. Accordingly, EarthLink maintains the right to terminate any member's connection following any extended period of inactivity as determined by EarthLink.

So Earthlink may have set up a fair use policy cutting p2p use

and heres some more proof:

Watching TV shows on the internet

I am new to having a computer at home. (I always worked long hours.) I have Earthlink through Time Warner Cable. I was surprised to find that TV shows could be viewed over the Internet. I left my TV behind when I moved recently and don't miss it. However, I am finding I enjoy watching TV via the Internet. Does this make me a broadband "hog"? Increasingly, during the few hours that I would like to watch (evening between 8:30 and 11:00 pm) I can't watch, the screen barely moves from frame to frame. Should I change to Verizon FIOS?

This is all new to me.

[TW] Do I need to get a new cable modem when upgrading service?

I want to upgrade from Basic service (1.5 mbps max. download) to Standard service (10 mbps max. download).

I have an old RCA cable modem model DCM245. Does this model support Standard service? Do I need to go to a TWC customer service center and exchange the modem for a different model? Ideally, I would like to be able to just call the customer service number and get this upgrade done over the phone. It is difficult for me to get to the customer service center during business hours. Thanks.
