Problem with Uniden D1688 cordless telephone.

Have anyone reading this post purchased a Uniden D1688-3T cordless phone system around May of 2011 and experienced the same problems I will describe below.

I actually I purchased 4 systems because I needed 12 Handsets urgently and I could not purchase the handsets separately, because it was a newly released system. Within a week I noticed the clock would not maintain accurate time. All base stations exhibited the same symptoms. Random time change without warning. I also noticed that incoming caller ID calls did not set the clock to the correct time.

I called Uniden customer service and reported the problem. There alibi was that it was my line that was causing the problem and not the telephones. I stopped at a Uniden dealer and found a D1660 on sale so I purchased one. I deregistered the handsets from the D1688 and registered them with the D1660 and the D1660 clock always maintained the correct time.

Between May of 2011 and April 2012 I called Uniden customer several times to find out if there was a solution to the problem and received the same alibi and the problem was never resolved. Within the last month I decided to spend the summer at a location where I needed to use the automatic answering system on one of the D1688's. I called Uniden customer service to determine if the problem had been resolved. I was advised that an internal document indicated that early production of the D16XX base stations I purchased were defective when they were manufactured and never work properly. I asked a CSR if Uniden could replace the defective base stations. Uniden's position was that the warranty had expired and they would not replace the defective base stations. The representatives were dishonest and intentionally misrepresented the cause of the problem to delay replacing the defective units until the warranty expired. Has anyone reading this post had the similar problem with Uniden products?

Decent Free RDP Software for iPad 4?

I've been running Splashtop 2 on my Android phone for a while and, aside from the need to run a streamer program on the PC, it works quite well, considering the challenge of working with a 2560x1600 PC display on a phone.

Wife got me an iPad for Father's Day gift and alas, there's no free Splashtop for iPad. There's a Splashtop Enterprise that's free, but I can't seem to get past the login, even though I have a Splashtop account.

I'm looking for a decent RDP program (LAN only--don't want outside access), preferably one that doesn't use a streamer program or need internet connection. The RDP software must support high host screen resolutions and allow scrolling (although the Retina display on the iPad is very close to the resolution of the host PC, so scrolling may not be needed).

There are many RDP programs for free in the Apple Store, but alas, which one?
