Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 or Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 ?

I can get these both at the same price, I just need help deciding which one is best?

I will mainly be using my PC for playing the latest games, browsing the Internet, watching videos, and using Microsoft Office software.

I've heard the E8400 is best, but surely 4 cores is better than 2?

Building my first gaming PC - are these specs good?

Hard Drive 500GB http://www.ebuyer.com/product/115479

DVD Drive http://www.ebuyer.com/product/140649

Looking at these specs, please help me in answering the following Q's...

Q1. Will this is all connect together properly? I'm a real novice at this stuff and dont want to find I've bought incompatable pieces or something!

Q2. Can you estimate how well you think this setup will run modern games such as Crysis and Call of Duty 4

Q3. What do I need to buy to be able to connect to the Internet both wirelessly, and by cable? Is this part of the motherboard or do I need another piece of hardware?

Q4. Are there any specs included here that you would change? (although keeping in mind the price difference)

Bargain basement dual purpose PC build

Hi,
I am looking to gather info on the least expensive, up-gradeable PC that will run the current batch of games and possibly the new games for the next, say, 2-3 years.
I am re-using a Thermaltake Mambo case, don't need a new monitor, HD, CD or speakers. Oh, running XP Pro.
I don't mind ordering from different vendors but would like to limit it to as few as possible. I am also not ruling out any pre-built boxes.

So, a new MB, DVD, RAM, Graphic and Sound. On a budget. A real tight budget.

Thanks,
Dave

Graphics issue

Hey.

When gaming i get a wird issue with what seems like only thin objects, there will be like a long line around thin objects that seems to outline them.

It's really hard to explain, and for the life of me i can't find out what's wrong, so i'm hoping someone can identify what's going on.

I've uploaded a video to youtube (below)to demonstrate what i mean.

Pay close attention the the edge of the object infront of the car, and the fences, notice when i get closer to them, the line-like thingys dissapear, and reappear as i get into the distance. I recorded this with 4xAA so i'm pretty sure it's not that.. and this happens in all games. Especially with textures in the distance like world of warcraft, it makes them look like they're flickering and fuzzy until i get close.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Youtube and specs below.

XP or Vista

When I changed to Vista I also bought a larger HD. Well Vista went crazy last night, crashed, corrupted file etc.

Out of frustration I plugged in the old HD with XP on it, and everything is of course looking great.

Here's my question. IS it worth reformating the Vista HD and starting again, or should I stay with my old XP and use the HD as additional storage?

I noticed a few extra DX10 effects in Vista in COH and I think in Bioshock.

But then again COH did run slightly slower.

Which is better for gaming XP or Vista?
