2.5" USB with programmable button

Can someone recommend a good external case for a 2.5" laptops drive that has a programmable button? I'm trying to setup a PHD device so our non-tech users can walk up to a server, attach a drive, press the button on the drive, and the backup files from the night before will be replicated to that drive.

I just need the button to launch a replicator program like Karen's Replicator.

Thanks.

Are you more likely to buy an eBay item with priority mail?

[poll]Does priority mail shipping make an eBay vendor more attractive to you for a purchase over vendors who offer standard shipping?,Yes,No[/poll]

I'm curious.

If you see a bunch of items and they are all within 5% price of each other from different vendors, are you more likely to buy the item from the vendor that is using priority mail vs. the vendor using "standard shipping" ?

I remember when I did more eBay buying 2-3 years ago, priority mail was always a tipping point for me. I knew there was a chance I'd get Saturday delivery - something I'd have to pay out the ass for with FedEx & UPS. I knew my item would be moving on Saturday, which allowed for faster delivery, and I knew even if it shipped from California to New York there was a chance of getting it Wednesday(usually Thursday) if I bought it Monday, whereas UPS would often take 5-7 days which turns into more than a week.

Thanks,

Eye Floaters-Anyone had or have them?

Damn...just developed some eye floaters on my left eye. And it came on rather suddenly.
Naturally, after doing some research on the net, it scared the crap out of me that maybe I had a detached retina or some other serious problem.
Went to the eye Dr. for a complete exam, and everything checked out "fine", or so he said.
Just something I have to "get used to", he said. In fact, he said I have them in both eyes, although my other eye is clear as can be.

How am I supposed to get "used to" a giant hairy black spider, along with what look like a million tiny eggs, right in my field of vision? It's driving me insane at the moment. I'm almost considering wearing an eye patch sometimes just so I don't have to look at the thing swirling around in there. Feel like I'm back in the 60's again, but this time it's no fun at all. :D

He said in some cases laser surgery can be effective, but it's risky and he didn't recommend it.
Am I really going to get accustomed to a hairy spider living in my eyeball? :(

C-Corp Tax Question

During the 1/3 of the year I worked as a 1099 employee using my SSN as my tax ID. For the remainder of the year I was employed under my C-Corp who invoiced the same client during that time. Basically I formed a C-Corp and that entity billed the client (Corp to Corp).

I have received a 1099 for when I was doing work under my SSN, but should I receive something similar during the time my company was billing them? I'm getting mixed responses from various people (including tax preparers). Thanks for the input.

questions for cat lovers

so my family has decided to get a couple kittens. my wife has finally come to terms with loosing our one cat that we had together for ~12yrs. i have had cats all my life and so now that i am pushing 40 it did not hit me as hard as it did her (it was her first long term pet and she took it really hard- it has been ~2yrs).

he died of renal failure like a lot of cats do now-a-days because of the crap corn and ash that they are fed (and possibly also from the clay based chemical soaked litter).

---so my questions are what kind of food do you recommend (out of the retail brands). and what kind of litter do you use?

in a perfect world i would like to feed them a diet of ~90+% meat but i know that is impractical as i am not going to make my own cat food and i dont think there are any on the shelf like that. as far as litter i am open to all suggestions.

let me know what you all think

Do you think I am being unreasonable in this situation?

I have never really had a problem with a purchase like this in all my years, but I will explain the situation and then ask you if you think I am being unreasonable or not.

I purchased a very expensive PC and, as I posted in another thread, the package or the machine itself was damaged by FedEx at the local sort facility and had to be shipped back to the vendor. They never attempted to deliver it so it had to be pretty bad.

Well, my feeling about this is, even if the box was just really messed up, but if they expect it and see no damage, I still don't want it. I don't want something I paid $4400 for that has been dropped, whether it shows signs of damage or not.

Am I being unreasonable in feeling that way? Normally if something is wrong with something, I don't worry about it, but this is a pretty big bit of pocket change. Especially it being dropped and jarred and stuff.

I have never had an issue in situation like this and am just curious if I'm being unreasobale. I don't think I am but wanted some feedback from others. What I want to do is write the vendor/merchant and tell them that I would prefer that they build a new machine, and charge the expense for the one that was in the damaged package (or the machine that was damaged) to FedEx.

And if you agree with me, how would you address the situation with them. Cause this company has a good reputation, but I could see some companies taking what components out that don't appear damaged and putting them in the new machine. And they may all test out fine in their testing area, but then might cause be some grief when I take ownership.

Third-Party Corporate Surveys

The company I work for has been promising that all employees will have the opportunity to fill out a corporate survey regarding their job. The survey is done by one of those third-party reporting agencies that will tally up the results and deliver them to corporate. The questions are of the typical format: Strongly Agree, Agree, Neither Agree/Disagree, and so on. The questions themselves are not overly specific: "How likely would you be to recommend [us] to a friend?", "If in 12 months you had a similar opportunity at another company for similar pay, how likely would you consider leaving?", etc.

The privacy policy of the third-party agency say that any personally identifiable data/tokens will be stripped prior to releasing the results to my company. Somehow, something in the back of my mind tells me that while that all sounds nice and good, it may not be 100% truthful.

The email I received asks me to go to the third-party site via link and to enter my special PIN to enter the survey. Each person has a different PIN sent to their corporate email address. When you think about it, they could match the PIN to my email address, and boom there is my identity--they say they strip that data, but who knows what really is done.

I'm not a disgruntled worker by any means, but I (and others) do see problems that are fixable, and we have been brought many solutions to the attention of management many times, but we're never listened to. These are problems that effect efficiencies, and as such, "the bottom line". I'd like to communicate something like that in the email, but I feel slightly "on edge" about telling the truth, feeling it could get back to me.

I don't plan on filling out the survey on my work PC - I plan on doing it at home.

What is the general opinion on these surveys regarding privacy? Is the data really stripped? Has anyone's constructive comments ever resulted in any sort of demotion, disciplinary action, or change of treatment in the office? I'm trying not to get crazy about it - i.e. should I use a proxy service when connecting to the survey at home? Etc.

I'm one of those people that likes to fix problems. I like to look for problems simply to see if I can fix it. When I have a solution to a fixable problem and I'm ignored, it annoys the shit out of me. I'd like to communicate that to corporate without my identity or fear of termination.

Opinions?

Missing USPS Priority Pkg

I ordered some items online. USPS shows delivered today. I checked my reg mailbox and there was a key to open a larger box. I opened the box and no package but another key was in that box. Once you open the box the key stays placed. Tried to open the corresponding box, key fit but it would not open. I have ordered from this company and other companies before recently and my packages are usually in the first box. I am thinking the postal worker took my package. It was sent priority mail as usual. What should I do. I still have the key to the 2nd box.

How to get more customers for excavation business?

Started my excavation business Aughust 2010. Got serious about it last year and picked up a few jobs. I am licensed and insured.

So far, work is dead. I see people with junky ass, raggy equipment getting work but I can't seem to pick up jobs hardly.

I've got a 4x8 sign to put up this spring, and have 2 lawn signs on a power pole were people can see but haven't got any calls. I had my ad in whats called the weekly trader, but everytime I gave a quote they "changed their mind" because I guess they was price fishing.

Any tips from anyone in this field that could land me some more work? What did you do to get customers? Last 3 jobs last year was people I knew.
