Power PC ON Via Keyboard (PS/2)

What I used to have: Old ASUS motherboards had an option in the BIOS that enabled powering the computer on by pressing a key. Several choices of key or combination of keys could be had. I selected the space bar. Press that key and the PC would power on.

My newer motherboards don't have this in the BIOS, so I have to get up, walk over to the rack and press the On button. Not very convenient, as I power up and down various machines during the day.

My keyboard is wired, PS/2. I am not willing to change to USB since that means a new KVM switch and cables.

What I am looking for is a PS/2 keyboard that has a "Power On" key.

Is there such a thing? I can't determine this from on-line literature available for the huge number of keyboards out there. A few I have read about have a "Power" key, but that only supposedly powers the PC down, not up.

I find it hard to believe that a feature like this would completely disappear from the BIOS and not be replaced in hardware somehow.

HP Laptop WiFi replacement issues

The wireless card in my mom's HP laptop died (system detects it, but does not pick up any APs), it was some cheap Broadcom 802.11b/g part.

A friend gave me an Intel 3495ABG card from his broken laptop, it's the same form factor mini pci-e card. Popped it in with no problems, attached the antenna connectors. After I powered on the system, I noticed that the WiFi indicator light next to the WiFi switch was blinking rapidly. It's not normally how it behaves, it's either Orange (wifi off), or Blue (wifi on). But I thought since this is not the original part it probably doesn't recognize it.

However, when I go to the device manager to install the driver for the Intel 3495ABG card, it does not appear in the device manager. It's simply not detected. I went to the BIOS options but there's no options with regards to wireless or antyhing like that...

So my question is, has anyone replaced the built in wifi with another brand on a HP laptop with any success?

The laptop model is HP dv9000 (dv9201ca) AMD Turion X2 1.6ghz.

Issues with my Gigabyte 965P-DS3 motherboard?

Well, recently I upgraded from a e6600 processor to a q6600 G0, but my rigs been acting up ever since. At first it wouldn't boot, so I upgraded my Gigabyte 965P-DS3 BIOS to the latest (f13) and everything booted up fine.
But once I started to try and overclock... that's where I ran into blue screens during Prime testing (trap_cause_unknown and a few other vague ones that Windows didn't go into details on). Also ran a Memtest after I reset the overclock to something tamer at 333x9(3Ghz) and everything is looking fine on Prime and on the memories side. (Patriot Extreme Performance DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220174)
I'm wondering if this issue might be related to the motherboard, and the fact it just might not be compatible with the G0 cores? (Though it lists that firmware version 12 enabled its compatibility I know sometimes it doesn't go as planned)
I also figure it might be due to the motherboards over 2 year age and past overclocking with the e6600 (400x9) might have stressed it out? And in-case it matters my power supply is a ENERMAX EIN720AWT INFINITI 720W.
Your help and suggestions on this would be much appreciated before I jump to conclusions heh. :D

Where to get drivers for cheap speakers?

I didnt have any speakers on my home pc since I mainly use my laptop for everything but my uncle gave me this cheap speakers to use that he had laying around for a while. I plugged them in and they worked fine, at least they did the job. I just did a format to the pc and the speakers dont work. Im sure I need the driver but this speakers are the kind you can buy for like $10 on any store so they are not known or anything, they dont even have a brand.

I looked on the bottom and they just have this sticker that says:

MODEL: GEM2.0-USB
by Diamond Audio Technology Inc.

I have googled for that but I havent been able to find anything. Could anyone help?

Thanks.

Graphic Artifacts

After a recent system rebuild, I'm getting some strange behavior when attempting to play FPS games (Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, in particular), carrying over to after I exit the game. See attached image--look at the tab bar in FireFox for example of post-game artifacting. I played the game at close to max detail all the way through without a problem before. Now, whenever I try to play, I get a screen full of gigantic polygons with messed up textures. Sometimes I get a few seconds of clear action before BANG! The screen goes.

I'm running the latest Catalyst drivers (8.7) on my AGP version ATI x1950 512MB card. I never overclocked this thing, and these aren't overheating issues I've seen before. Could this be something to do with refresh rates and the LCD, etc?

Thanks in advance. This forum has always been a truly awesome resource for me.

Toshiba Lappy just quits!!!

Hello fellow geeks,
I have an interesting problem with a Toshiba A105-S107 laptop running WinXP w/704Mb Ram. The lappy is refurbished and ran fine til 6 mos ago when it started shutting down on it's own. It will now only boot and run for approx. 15 min on a good day before it just quits! I have to manually press the boot switch to get it to restart.
I suspect a HDD that's on it's way out due to the sound of the fan quitting as it shuts down. Am I in the right area?

Thanx in advance for your help...

"System Failed CPU Test"

I've had my computer working flawlessly until today. Last night I shut it down for the night. Prior to that, all was working fine.

This morning I went to turn it on to do some book keeping. It wouldn't boot up. Instead, I get a vocal message saying "System Failed CPU Test.... System Failed CPU Test..."

The last time I got that, was when I installed a new Video card and forgot to plug in a power cable for it.

So this morning, I took it apart, took out the video card, and tried again. Same message. I put the card back, and reset the CMOS, and removed the battery, and reset that, just in case.

Nothing, same message.

I don't know what to do next.

My computer MB is an AUSUS P4P800-E Deluxe
