Laptop won't power off

I'm having a problem with my laptop -> Acer Aspire 5670.

Specs:
Intel Core Duo T2300
ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 128MB
100GB 5400 RPM SATA hard drive
Slot-Load DVD super multi drive
1GB DDR2 dual channel memory

When I shut down the laptop, the power led remains on along with the hard drive activity led coming on. The battery will drain rather fast and be completely dead in about 3 hrs (battery life when running is about 2) at which time all led's go off.

So I was having the problem with XP, I then installed Windows 7 and the problem went away for like 2 weeks at which point it started doing it sometimes, and now it is everytime.

Anyone had a similar problem or have any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

Can't get into BIOS - Pentium 4

I have an older Pentium 4 and I'm trying to get it to boot off of CD-ROM but it won't.
I can't get into the BIOS for some reason either.
The computer always just boots straight into Windows XP.
It shows like an Intel Motherboard screen when you first turn it on and I try hitting F2 or F12 or DEL and it never does anything, just shows a black screen with a cursor blinking in the top left corner and then a few seconds later it shows the WinXP startup screen.

Any ideas?

Dell V305 - Cartridges not moving to center

I have a Dell V305 printer and it's giving me an error that the cartridges are jammed. Problem is when I lift the center control, the cartridges are supposed to move to the center where I would remove them and install them. However, they dont move to the center and therefore I cant do anything.

What do I do?

Thanks.

Sony VCG-LS30E HD upgrade

I'd like to upgrade the HD in this machine, but can't figure out where the hard drive is, and how to get it out. I rather not tear the whole machine apart looking for it. Do you know how to replace the HD on this machine?

Samsung SyncMaster 191T Issues

I have a dual monitor setup on my system. 2 Samsung SyncMaster 191T monitors. 1 is on DVI and the other is on VGA.
The one on the DVI port will not turn on right away after turning it off. It will sit blinking the power light for like 10 or 15 min after turning it on.
I've even tried switching them around so the one that won't turn on is on the VGA cable and it still does it. Nothing I can do except wait for it.

[motherboard] newly built computer not starting

Hello, I hope one of you experts out there can help me figure out a problem with my new home-built computer. The computer turns on, but only stays on for 4 seconds, then turns off for 4 secs, turns back on for 4 secs, etc etc etc. Do not get any thing on the monitor, just keeps restarting. It is an ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 motherboard with an ANTEC 850W powersupply, and Intel Core I7 920 processor. I am thinking it is a grounding problem maybe? Any ideas or has anybody else run into this problem? I appreciate any feedback!

GeForce 8800 GTS - no signal to monitor

From one day to the next this problem emerged;

I turned on my computer and it started humming - vaguely louder than normal, which I later decided stemmed from the GFX card fan - but my monitor did not start.

I unscrewed one side of the cabinet and not being a major hardware buff, I didn't see any obvious reasons it shouldn't be working. I continued to blow some dust of parts of the interior and screwed the side back on. This did the trick and I could now turn on my PC as usual - it ran perfectly for several hours until finally I shut it down and went to bed.

Alas, the next day the problem had returned, but this time I couldn't fix it - I tried vacuuming the insides og my pc and cleaning any fans to the best of my ability. No luck. I then tested my monitor on another PC to rule that out and the monitor works fine. Lastly I tested my PC with another GFX card of an older sort(geforce 7500 LE) and this works perfectly aswell

Now, after having done all this I had my GFX card tested at the store that sold it to me and they reported it to be in fine working order.

After being adviced to do so, I tried resetting cmos by moving the jumpers back and forth - no result. I also tried this combined with popping the mobo battery out and back in with the same lack of result.

From what I can tell the computer starts up just as it has always done, the screen just doesn't get activated.

A little note - the 8800 GTS requires a power cable of it's own whereas the 7500 LE does not so this might be where the problem lies? Alltho, if I connect the 8800 GTS without the power cable it warns me with a long BEEEEP and that is not happening now - I'm unsure if it just checks for a cable to be connected or for actually getting power.

As I said my hardware knowledge isn't much above average so I'm left puzzled which I why I come here seeking help.

I'm desperate :)

Need to replace ATI sink/fan

After several days of trying to figure out why my computer is crashing, I discovered that the fan on my video card is spinning at about 5 to 10RPM. Makes sense why it was locking up the system only when gaming.

Anyway, I need to obviously replace the faulty fan and likely the sink as well. I have never done this so I'm looking for help in picking out the right cooling apparatus and ask how difficult it is to remove the old and install the new. Here's the kicker.

The card is an ATI Retail X850 Pro AGP. The system it is within is 5.5 years old and due to be replaced. However, I don't mind spending some money to fix the card since I'm sure this system will find it's way into someone's needy hands in the near future. Advice, recommendations and input are GREATLY appreciated.
